Tirupaachi Songs Movie Reviews

Music can't get worse than this.
Dec 31, 2004 12:57 PM 2901 Views

Tirupaachi is the next film that is due for Vijay. The cast consists of Vijay, Trisha, Mallika.

There are 3 music directors involved in this film as Dhina, Devi Sri Prasad and Manisarma. All the three have disappointed in this film. All songs are item numbers and they say its the trend of the industry. Its pathetic and this is not the way for Tamil industry to go.

People like MSV, Raja, ARR, Yuvan have been giving great music for almost 5 decades and off-late Vidhyasagar too is worth mentioning. We are better off encouraging talents that give quality music than scrap ones. Once a while a song which is an item number can be good but as they say, too much of anything is poison.

Lets get down to business now. Below is my view of the songs.

Nee Entha Ooru

Sung by: Tippu.Music Director : Dhina

The start sequence of this song is very similar to starting number in Madurey. Another fast tracker. Tippu is really fast catching up as the hier to SPB who has sung numerous intro tracks for various artistes esp. Rajinikanth. The lyrics of this songs too resemble the philosophical numbers of Rajinikanth. The song is pretty ordinary unless Vijay's dance adds pep to it.

Appan Panna

Sung By: Anuradha Sriram, Pushpavanam Kupusamy. Music Director : Dhina

A class ''A'' item number. There is no rythm or melody whatsoever in this song. Anuradha Sriram is a good singer who has been under utilised. She has a good voice that could be utilised more melodious tunes. Remember she has sung songs like ''Karuppu thaan'' (Vetri Kodi Kattu), ''Roja Poonthottam'' (Kannukkul Nilavu) and many more. Pushpavanam Kuppusamy has a great voice for folk songs. Definitely not a song I would recommend to hear.

Avichu Vecha Nellukkum

Sung By: Manicka Vinayagam. Music Director : Dhina

A folk number sung by Manicka Vinayagam. Nothing great in this song to mention. The song actually ends before it started.

Enna Thavam

Sung By: Dhina, Mas Ramkiran, Swarnalatha. Music Director : Dhina

A pathos number that is supposed to pour emotions between a brother and sister. The voice of Swarnalatha adds a real dimension to the song. Other than that there is no real attraction to the song. Not a lengthy song. Can be heard once.

Kumbida Poona

Sung By: Malathi, Shankar Mahadevan, Music Director : Dhina

Same pair that sung the famous number ''Manmatharaasa''. This number is also an item number. The lyrics has neither a meaning nor a catch to it. The music is really pathetic. Am appalled by the standards that the director has agreed for the music. No more for this song. Definitely not recommended for any time.

Kattu Kattu

Sung By: Manicka Vinayagam, Sumangali, Music Director : Devi Sri Prasad

A peppy number by Devi Sri Prasad. The voice of Sumangali has blended well with the tune. The tune as such does not catch your attention unless you are a item number fan. The pallavi has more english words than tamil ones. Some parts of the song resemble songs from Madurey, Vijay's previous film. The charanams dont catch your ears too well too. The lyrics are hardly audible and even if they are audible, they song a bit odd. Not a good one from my view.

Kannum Kannumthaan

Sung By: Harish Ragavendra, Uma Ramanan, Music Director : Manisharma

A slightly melodious number from Mani Sharma in the lines of Aasai Aasai from Dhool. Its been quite some time before which I heard Uma Ramanan's voice. She hasn't lost any charm in her voice from yesteryears. Harish's voice is pleasing as ever. The song might catch your ears after a couple of times. The catchy lyrics in between the charanams are good to hear until you understand what the voice really utters.
