Effective job interview skills
Nov 05, 2018 02:28 PM3834 Views

I have worked at top banks and companies for over 15 years and have been running a recruitment outfit for over 6 years now. So, I would like to give some practical tips for youngsters who are appearing for job interviews:

  1. Do homework about the client: Perhaps this is the single most important point. Please spend a day or two researching about the company and industry. Many of the candidates get rejected because they are not adequately prepared.

  2. Dress Properly: Proper dress gives a very good impression to the client officials. Improper dress gives the impression of being casual and careless.

  3. Don't be late: If you have been assigned some particaular time for the interview, please be on time. Being late can ruin your chances.

I hope these tips help you in your interviews.

Aug 11, 2018 11:29 PM3843 Views (via Android App)

HI FRIENDS! ROHIT BACK AGAIN

Friends lets come to the point. I will share some of my personal interview experiences.

I went to some interviews for profix, trivim and and ojas. These are my college high level interview panels. Now whats that key to crack an interview. Whats that impresses the interviewer. Its nothing but your CONFIDENCE my friend.

Just be what you are. Dont show off. Stick to reality instead of talking hypothetical. Dont use heavy grammer. Because any one them can catch that single word and extend your entire interview on that particular word. Really!

Then dress up well. Well cut hairs and tiet in shirt. Shoes polish. See now one says in every interview you had bilingual options. But it would be an extra butter if you go with well english.

Next all what you do in that given time. Best of luck.

Bye!

TO-DO List for an Effective interview.
Jan 02, 2018 11:34 AM4380 Views

Good morning to all the viewers of MouthShut.com. I will be pointing out some of Key things that will help us to crack any kind of Interview.

Now what is an Inerview? It's nothing but some kind like WAR with our own Fear deep inside us and by taking the Help of our common sense and Knowledge reach at the Goal which is just opposite the Line of Control.

Now I have seen that many of us fear to face an Interview. I also had gone through the same phase and hence I list out some of the key points which will help us to suceed.

a. Know youself: This is the main thing that we need to know first, yes it is ourselves. We have to make ourselves ready for that situation. We need to acquire that positive vibe that will help us a lot during shooting the answers.

b. Do a bit homework: I have also seen many of the people just drop in to attend the interview, but when they are questioned whether they have any idea for which process they give this answer, "I do not know, I just got to know that there are openings and hence I came". Now this is awkward.

Hence we should take out sometime and then do a bit research about the Organization for which we will be facing the interview. This will indeed make us more comfortable with the interviewer.

c. Simple and informative resume: I won't comment much on this as everybody does hold a good resume. But according to me the Resume is nothing but you in front of the interviewer. Hence it shold be simple with our names and achievements and also the important dates highlighted. In this way the interviewer will find easy to navigate through the same.

d. How to prepare the Interview questions: Nowadays there are many websites where in most of the questions that might be asked in the interview are listed out. Many of us tend to remember the answers line by line and that is what we should refrain from. If we try to remember and then tell the same to the interviewer if we forget a single word also we will tend to fumble with our words and hence THE END.

Hence preparation is good but not mugging up everything line by line.

e. Time: Time is something that we need to follow. We should try to be at the venue always around 15-20 minutes prior the scheduled time for the interview. This will help us to be more comfortable.

f. Dress code: Now this is somewhere that I would like to point my own feelings. Many of us tend to go in Complete Formals, like Black/Brown Pants and white Shirts. But why does only these colors come in to our mind. We can chose any other colors.

What needs to be taken care is that we are looking descent in out clothes. I have friends who have gone in a pair of JEANS and casual Plain Shirt. They look good and yes they have been selected too. We need to remember we need to be ourselves first only then we can tackle the questions.

g. Now some etiquettes for inside the Interview room: > Do not rush in. Walk normally and be confident. What I follow is if I see that the Interviewer is quiet aged I greet him "Good Morning/Noon Sir, I am here for the interview". And if they are quiet young then be casual, "Hi There, May I come in?". In this way we can make a bond with the person in front of us and he will also get a positive vibe about us. > We need to make sure that we are not rushing towards the answer. We need to an active listener, let him complete what he wants to know and then proceed. > Maitaining Eye Contact. This is very important as just look at the interviewers eyes while answering, in this way we can gain more confidence. > Never argue with the interviewers. Sometimes the person who is in front of us will try to check our patience level and hence they might ask some of the things that we do not want to answer or it can not be. At that time just let them know in a very confident voice that you can't. That's all.

h. Now the last thing, please avoid asking. Sir/Madam, "Am I selected?". This is something that many of us tend to ask and needs to be avoided.

We need to remember that its just an Interview and whether we get selected or not, we will definitely learn many things and will gain more confidence.

Even the smartest and most qualified job seekers need to prepare for job interviews. Why, you ask? Interviewing is a learned skill, and there are no second chances to make a great first impression. So study these 10 strategies to improve your interview skills.

Practice good nonverbal communication

It's about demonstrating confidence: standing straight, making eye contact and connecting with a firm handshake. That first nonverbal impression can be a great beginning - or quick ending - to your interview.

Dress for the job or company

Today's casual dress codes do not give you permission to dress as "they" do when you interview. It is important to know what to wear to an interview and to be well-groomed. Whether you wear a suit or something less formal depends on the company culture and the position you are seeking. If possible, call to find out about the company dress code before the interview.

Listen

From the very beginning of the interview, your interviewer is giving you information, either directly or indirectly. If you are not hearing it, you are missing a major opportunity. Good communication skills include listening and letting the person know you heard what was said. Observe your interviewer, and match that style and pace.

Don't talk too much

Telling the interviewer more than he needs to know could be a fatal mistake. When you have not prepared ahead of time, you may ramble when answering interview questions, sometimes talking yourself right out of the job. Prepare for the interview by reading through the job posting, matching your skills with the position's requirements and relating only that information.

Don't be too familiar

The interview is a professional meeting to talk business. This is not about making a new friend. Your level of familiarity should mimic the interviewer's demeanor. It is important to bring energy and enthusiasm to the interview and to ask questions, but do not overstep your place as a candidate looking for a job.

Use appropriate language

It's a given that you should use professional language during the interview. Be aware of any inappropriate slang words or references to age, race, religion, politics or sexual orientation - these topics could send you out the door very quickly.

Don't be cocky

Attitude plays a key role in your interview success. There is a fine balance between confidence, professionalism and modesty. Even if you're putting on a performance to demonstrate your ability, overconfidence is as bad, if not worse, as being too reserved.

Take care to answer the questions

When interviewers ask for an example of a time when you did something, they are asking behavioral interview questions, which are designed to elicit a sample of your past behavior. If you fail to relate a specific example, you not only don't answer the question, but you also miss an opportunity to prove your ability and talk about your skills.

Ask questions

When asked if they have any questions, most candidates answer, "No." Wrong answer. Part of knowing how to interview is being ready to ask questions that demonstrate an interest in what goes on in the company. Asking questions also gives you the opportunity to find out if this is the right place for you. The best questions come from listening to what you're asked during the interview and asking for additional information.

Don't appear desperate

When you interview with the "please, please hire me" approach, you appear desperate and less confident. Reflect the three Cs during the interview: cool, calm and confidence. You know you can do the job; make sure the interviewer believes you can, too.
