“Tulip Touch” is a disturbing story about the relationship of a posh girl named Natalie and a mean girl named Tulip. Tulip never learns when she does anything wrong and who also loves fire

but on the other hand Natalie is a hold your coat merchant who does anything Tulip tells her to. I think that Tulip became mean and strange and evil because of her lousy childhood. This is what Mr Barnes says. He says she’s not had the best upbrining.

Tulip was born in an abnormal family with a very mean dad, as we know from the book when he shouts down the phone, ‘snatch her bold headed’ to Mrs. Petifer.. He also doesn’t like Tulip hanging around with Natalie. It doesn’t mention anything about her mum which gives you a bit of suspense because we don’t know anything about her.

Natalie was born into the Barne family and was well-mannered. The Barnes’ are an ordinary family who own a hotel called The Palace. She also has a brother who receives more attention than her. Soon after the two girls became best friends and played strange games that Tulip had created. Some of these games were sometimes bad and Natalie always got blamed. These games included “Rats in a Firestorm”, “Days of Dumbness”, “Little Visits” and “Road of Bones”. These could put Tulip in serious trouble if anyone caught her and someone did, the police officers.

After a long time Natalie realized that Tulip wanted her to get blamed. Soon Natalie began to hate Tulip because of that, but Tulip wasn’t easy to get rid of. They also had a lot of arguments all because of Tulip. Natalie tried her best to avoid her.

Before Natalie left Tulip there was a lot of things happening. One of the things where that Tulip was making all these lies. Here is one of them. When Natalie 1st met Tulip she was holding a cat and it caused a long conversation. But later on in the story Natalie asks “where is your cat?” “OH we couldn’t look after them anymore they where having kittens” but it was in more detail. People who read this will know that this is a lie and she has done something to the cats. In the story Natalie wondered how Tulip could be so cruel that she killed kittens so even Natalie knew she was a liar. Tulip’s dad started the kitten killing when he tortured the remaining kitten before he killed them. After that Tulip wanted to kill them by herself to not make them suffer.

Also tulip’s dad wasn’t so happy for her daughter. He just didn’t want her around. With that kind of dad no wondering she became that kind of child. It’s hard to show love when you have not been taught how to do it by being loved. She just acts like her dad almost in every situation. If he’s bad then so will she be. You can’t do so much if you were in her situation. The ones that can do something is the teacher that noticed her situation but didn’t do anything about it. She just kept on living her life as if nothing had happened.

Tulip was different. It wasn’t easy to make contact with her. She often lies to get the attention that she didn’t get at home. This was one of her silly games that was named “the Tulip touch”. If she had lied to you then you had been touch by Tulip. Well it wasn’t one of her games it was what Mr Barnes had nicknamed her lies. The author have also mentioned some strange ordinary situations that you could recognize from your normal life like when Natalie didn’t wanted to be with Tulip. She just kept on telling strange excuses why she can’t be with her. I mean, how many times have you wanted to lie and say can that you can´t talk on the phone because you are fed up with someone. The author didn’t say that Tulip was strange girl and all that. You have to think by yourself and that’s what makes this book quite interesting

I think it is aimed at 12 and up because little kids might not be able to understand it.

My best character was Natalie because she did the right thing to get rid of Tulip and because she knew right from wrong.
