The Blue Poppy, Salt Lake, Kolkata

This restaurant was referred to me by a friend from Sikkim when she used to live in kolkata. This was many years back, I couldn't find time to visit this place for a long long time. Just few months back, I decided to visit this restaurant inside Sikkim House, which is just opposite SAI complex and next to Nagaland House. The price is in the steeper side of things. I had ordered one plate Momo, Steamed and waited for it, they didnt take much time and when I went home and shared it with everyone and saw the number of momo's given for the price taken, I was pleasantly surprised by it. The size of one momo was big enough and the chicken inside was actually chicken and not just "naam key wastey" chicken. For the first time, I didnt feel cheated! in buying restaurant food. You should visit this place not just for chinese but for tibetan food as well. They also have thali system.as far as I can remember! if not, you can always go and check out what is!

If you are strolling around the salt Lake area, you have got to visit the blue poppy. It opens at about 5.30 in the evening. The service is excellent and the food is superb. Waiting time ranges from 5-10 minutes, and the waiters are well mannered.  I ordered meat balls and mixed fried rice and they took only 10 mins to deliver.

This place is a bit hard to locate as it is tucked inside the Gorkha bhawan.

we ordered Thupka and thenthuk and both were super delicious.Than we ordered Fried momo and they were really made to perfection though these were a bit oily.

If you want to have a Tibetan-Nepali-North-Eastern cuisine without burning a hole in your pocket than this is a great choice.

The blue poppy where I had my first Chinese when staying in salt lake kolkata. Now it's shifted to gorkha bhavan near city centre. Blue poppy is very good restaurant to taste Tibetan food. I had here lunch when I was in college.

The best dish of blue poppy is pan fried momo. People generally eat this momos. Another item is very tasty is chicken and pork shapta which is special taste. Prawn Cantonese noodles these item they make like Tibetan style. Today also I miss their food. Decoration will take us to north east India.

The staff are known for their knowledge of food quality. Prices are not very much affordable. I recommend to my friends who are in kolk now to enjoy blue poppy.
