Thank You Mr. Glad is a political novel written by Anil Barve and published by Popular Publication.

This book is based on the story of a Naxalite, Virbhushan Patnaik, who was a medical doctor-turned-communist revolutionary. After getting capital punishment by the court, he was sent to a Central Jail before he is hanged where he met with a very rude and old-fashioned British-trained Superintendent Mr Glad. He did not left India after its independence rather chose to show his loyalty to tri-colour surrendering his loyalty to the Union Jack.

This novel is a conversation between these two people of different school of thought and later the Jailer's daughter Jennifer came to met the Naxalite and impressed by his thought. The story tells us why the jailer could not understand the enthusiasm the Naxalite still carries even after being given a capital punishment. The passion he has for his revolution changed the thought of the jailer towards him and recognized him as a political prisoner not as a criminal.

The author Barve has bravely shown the root cause of Naxalite movement in India and its major consequences. The story of a medical doctor turned to a revolutionary helps us to know why even a well educated person turned towards such violent revolution. What forces drove him there and who are actually responsible for this? A serious thinking on these issues is much needed today when people are turning towards violence for the cause of religion. What factors motivate a person to become violent? This is a serious question to deal with.

A calm reading of this book is a good starter to think on these issues.
