I had been here with my family who were here for Mumbai tour.a lot of things have changed since the renovation happened.the aquarium is neat and clean.you will get to explore many species of fish here. But what was disappointing was watching big turtles in small tank where they can hardly move around.also the place is very very noisy.loud music, public talking.thats realky horrible.this place is very near and easily accessible by walking through charni riad station.also from here you can go to girgaum beach and marine drive . The ticket price is very less.but photography isnot allowed here for that you need to buy seprate tickets.overall an average place.maybe very fascinating for kids . but not for adults.

Taraporewala Aquarium Mumbai Review
Feb 01, 2018 01:52 PM3463 Views (via Android App)

Taraporewala Aquarium located at Marine Drive, Mumbai is a beautiful aquarium place which is a very famous spot for mumbaikars. The aquarium features a wide variety of fishes including sting rays, sea turtle, giant arowanas, marine fishes, piranha, and many more.

The entrance of the aquarium is a big tunnel like aquarium which is stocked with marine fishes like clown fish, queen angel, puffer fish, etc.The aquariums are always kept in clean conditions with proper temperature and hygiene. When the aquarium was renovated many of the fishes had to be kept in quarantine because of climate change issues. The structure of the aquarium building is fancy and it attracts people towards it.My personal experience with the aquarium was good, many more variety of fishes could be added to make the aquarium look very attractive and exciting. The infrastructure is good.I had to remove 1 star from the rating as various varieties of fishes and aquarium could have been added.

Overall, Taraporewala Aquarium was a good experience for me and I recommend this amusing place to everyone.Taraporewala Aquarium is a big YES from me.

The most captivating piece of the aquarium was the creative sort of entry way angle tank which is made of glass and gives a sentiment being submerged. In the new increments of fishes my most loved was jellyfish. The turtles were immense and animals from ocean life added to the uncommon accumulation.

Good aquarium but lack of maintenance
Sep 14, 2017 07:39 AM4447 Views (via Android App)

Taraporewala aquarium no doubt is one of the good places to take students on a field trip / Educational visit. It's the biggest aquarium in Mumbai. The location of the place is very good as the aquarium is the sea facing aquarium in Marine Drive. The only drawback of this aquarium is the lack of maintenance and poor facilities. The aquarium has a cafeteria which charges quite heavy than the others. And the food is also not that good. The tickets /entry pass to the aquarium is reasonable. Inside the aquarium most of the time the tanks are not clean and the floor is not swept which seems bad to any person.

Taraporewala needs to correct this.

Careless maintenance, very careless
May 06, 2017 07:42 PM6850 Views (via Android App)

Hello friends, I would like to let you guys know about the careless behaviour of the people from the Taraporewala Aquarium. I went to this Aquarium today and was happy by setting the entrance which was beautifully designed by the idea that there was a big dome shaped tank over the head and was looking very beautiful. After that when I went inside, the were variety of dishes and all the information regarding the fishes was displayed above on a screen, but the party which I didn't like was that there was no one to look after the fishes as they were finding something to eat in the tank but there was nothing given to them for eating so they were eating the sand and the stones and throwing it after knowing that it's not food. this was the carelessness of the people. and there was a very adorable sea turtle over there which was about 3 - 4 feet long, it was looking very beautiful but as the size of the tank was too small for his body, he was very tired and was not at all moving from the corner, he was testing in the corner of a tank and was looking too much tired as must be too old. this was the thing that I didn't liked about it, otherwise the aquarium is well maintained and pretty, and cameras are not allowed, if you want to take pictures then you have to buy a ticket which costs around 500 INR. thank you for reading my review, of you felt it useful then plz share and like it : )

Best amongst Indian aquariums

After the renewation the aquarium has many new species of fishes and aquatic animals. The most intriguing part of the aquarium was the innovative type of door fish tank which is made of glass and gives a feeling of being under water. In the new additions of fishes my favourite was jelly fish.

Taraporewala aquarium at marine drive mumbai is a wonderfull place I still remenber the first time I had been there when I was nine , but according to the last vist I came to know that it was just the good side of it that I saw when I was nine, I came to know that its really far from churchgate station I t may be around 4 kilo meters it took me nearly half an hour to reach by walking, the cost of the ticket is less but the place is really small , it had a line starting from the gate and it was like never ending , I ended up by just seeing one fish which was on the entrance and just ate some raw mango which was sold outside the aquarium , the place doeant have proper sitting facility .the people who be on entrance does not welcome thier guest properly.and does talk without respect.i gess now at present I gess it doesn't even worth the money people pay.

Don’t see all people going to that place anymore. I were there a while returned. It has actually lost all charms of being a reputed aquarium. It's miles dirty and full of awful crowd at all times of the day. In truth, it is both that manner, or is absolutely abandoned! The fish were unclean and wanted right lights. There regarded to be no guide round. There have been people transferring in all instructions, forming no que of any type. The statistics about the fish are old. They want to be refreshed or maybe put right into a one-of-a-kind format frame. They now not most effective appearance but experience old and worn out. There may be a heavy smell of dirt. The area desires a radical cleaning and painting. The fish need to be taken out, and the aquarium wishes cleaning. All the paan stains need to be washed clean. Perhaps also plant few extra bushes across the aquarium. The blue paint appears vintage and useless. Want to be in brighter blue. In order that human beings feel like they're going out to sea, rather than just any other museum.

Well it ended up being "all show and no substance" Firstly, there was a long line to get the ticket and afterward to at last get in. As we entered, the highly "discussed" oceanarium was a huuuuuuge disillusionment. The oceanarium was small to the point that anyone could undoubtedly miss it being there, on the off chance that you strolled quick! On the other hand we needed to remain in a line to achieve the Freshwater Angles area. The disturbing part was, while remaining in the line I could truly smell fishes.as in a fish market(& not an aquarium!)! Eeeesshh! At last in the wake of entering the Main segment, I was upbeat seeing the assortment. Be that as it may, my bliss was fleeting with the protect shrieking with his shriek, youngsters circling, and individuals talking without end to brilliance! With the measure of pushing and pushing, it didn't feel an ounce the place I thought it to be. As though this was insufficient, when I was perusing the depiction of the fishes composed on the overhead show unit, a monitor, began yelling/admonishing to advance! As per them, you need to finish seeing the fishes and perusing the portrayal, everything in level 15 seconds! Goodness! Lastly, the highlight of my excursion was-the names of the fishes in the show weren't right! How could an aquarium mix-up this? The very reason it was assembled, was to spread learning about the assortment of fishes and its "names" Not expected this, profoundly baffling! Why you ought to go: - Truly! Regardless you need to go, particularly in the wake of perusing the review!(Haha) - On the off chance that you wanna see what an Indian Oceanarium resembles. - You need to deliberately ruin your day. - You have cash to squander! Why you shouldn't go: - Rank! The passage scents of "fish market" - The staff is egotistical! They will converse with you like they possess the place and you have entered it "for nothing"

-(Taraporewala) Aquarium has incited extraordinary development organization issues and the entirely touted "workplaces" such an assortment of people can't see the fishes unmistakably in the midst of surge time. various fishes are seen to be kicked the can

various fishes are seen to be kicked the can major reason is the utilization of "isolated" water direct sourced from the Arabian sea, achieving high saltiness and pollution in the fish tanks. Ocean stallions are back on display, yet tragically the jellyfish and some other fish have kicked the basin in perspective of some contaminating impact of water. Authorities wearing down the fish tank indicates said that no under 600 fish had been removed so far and the incidents obtained so far could continue running into a couple of lakhs of money such a substantial number of fishes were cleared so its waste to visit. encompassing is shocking of condition.

Good for one visit!!

Taraporewala Aquarium is India's oldest aquarium and a good tourist spot. Taraporewala aquarium has both fresh water fishes as well as marine fishes. It is located on marine drive mumbai. The entrance fee structure is Adults INR 60 and children below 12 years INR 30 which is cheap and affordable but you have to pay extra for clicking pictures for mobile phones INR 500 and for digital camera INR1000 and INR 5000 for special camera which is quiet expensive according to me and I think its of no use of visiting the aquarium without clicking pictures so unwantedly you have to pay extra big amount just to click a couple of pictures . I visited taraporewala aquarium with my friends while we were crossing the marine drive we stopped and visted the aquarium. My experience was not good as the timing is very sickening of the aquarium that is in the afternoon from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the evening I did not like the timing because its in the afternoon and its very hot outside and you have to stand in a long queue to take entrance fee and the photography fee. It is closed on monday. And I was thankful that the aquarium is maintained very nicely and the place was very neat, clean and hygienic and well air condition inside the aquarium. Inside the aquarium when you see the different types of fishes it feels heavenly it is very good to see them. The only thing I did not like was the crowd screaming you to move forward so you cant stand and see the fishes for a moment you just have to keep walking in a line so we ended up seeing the aquarium with in 20 mins and we couldn't see half of the fishes in the rush.

Its waste of time and money ...
Apr 22, 2016 01:31 PM8103 Views (via Mobile)

-(Taraporewala) Aquarium has prompted extreme movement administration issues and the quite touted "offices" such a variety of individuals can't see the fishes unmistakably amid surge time.

  • numerous fishes are observed to be kicked the bucket fundamental reason is the use of "separated" water straightforwardly sourced from the Arabian ocean, bringing about high saltiness and contamination in the fish tanks.

  • Sea stallions are back in plain view, yet sadly the jellyfish and some other fish have kicked the bucket in view of some polluting influence of water.

  • Officials chipping away at the fish tank shows said that no less than 600 fish had been expelled so far and the misfortunes acquired so far could keep running into a few lakhs of cash such a large number of fishes were evacuated so its waste to visit.

  • surrounding is terrible of condition.

MY VERDICT:-

Longer lines, activity growls, yet remodeled aquarium neglects to inspire.

Its totaly waste r your money and time also .And its not an beautiful place.I was awfully let around the way things capacity at the Taraporewala Aquarium.

I was all energized and prepared for a brilliant affair! Well it ended up being "all appear and no substance" Firstly, there was a long line to get the ticket and after that to at last get in.

The sickening part was, while remaining in the line I could actually smell fishes.as in a fish market Its an aggregate no no.as you need to remain on long line to get passage to the aquarium furthermore there is diverse line for tickets too.No additional electric reinforcement power. Indian government is simply plundering individuals by accusing overwhelming measure of no appropriate detail in it. What's more, the camera charges are excessive Recommend not to go and squander your time.so toraly disepointed with us.

Look out for change

The ticket rate is Rs.60 for adults and Rs.30 for children. photography allowed with proper ticket. Mobile camera-Rs 500, Digital camera-Rs 1000, Professional Camera- Rs 5000. when I visited on 25/10/2015. Monday closed.

Aquarium was good . It was clean and tidy.thankfully temperature inside was not too humid and AC was working fine.considering one can get roasted in minutes in the hot afternoon sun outside. Certain variety of fishes were worth seeing like the piranha, Sea turtle was huge.

After renovation it just has got little bigger.
Mar 26, 2016 09:26 PM8254 Views

I have been there before its renovation too. so I didn't find the much changes. they have just decorated the building from outside. and has installed AC in the hall. so if you have visited there before and wants to go again just to see what has changed.

I would say please don't you will just get disappointed. they haven't increased the variety of the fishes. fish tanks were stinky and if you will stand for few minutes at one place a guard will come whistling and will ask you to move. so I would say better you go on the beach and enjoy if you don't have kids with you insisting to go to the aquarium.

DON'T TRY THIS PLACE!!!
Dec 09, 2015 05:07 PM8600 Views

After the "much hyped" renovated opening of the Taraporewala, I was all excited and geared up for a wonderful experience! Well it turned out to be "all show and no substance"

Firstly, there was a long queue to get the ticket and then to finally get in. As we entered, the much "talked about" oceanarium was a huuuuuuge disappointment. The oceanarium was so small that anybody could easily miss it being there, if you walked fast! Then again we had to stand in a queue to reach the Freshwater Fishes section. The disgusting part was, while standing in the queue I could literally smell fishes.as in a fish market

Its a total no no.as you have to stand on long queue to get entry to the aquarium and also there is different line for tickets too.And after renovation there's not much changes as it just got little bigger and central air conditioned.

RS 60 is not worth as you are not even allowed to take a snap.its just the outside of the building which is decorated quiet well.instead would like to be at chowpati and eat gola.
