Tangerine - Indiranagar gets a 4/10.

LOCATION :- Tangerine is a sizzler's place situated on Indiranagar 100 feet road. It is to be found on the left side of the road while going from the CMH road junction towards old madras road.AMBIENCE :- The interiors aren't something to brag about. Just like any other restaurant.

It is a bit dark though. There are hanging lights on each table, and only a couple of the tables have sufficient lighting. The good thing was the instrumental music playing in the background. It was a perfect fit considering the overall setting.

FOOD :- They have a mix of veg and non veg fare. I would recommend the Veg Crostini starter. In the main course, they have a variety of sea food and meat sizzlers. Steer clear of the Mix Veg Chutneywala sizzler though. It is an Indian sizzler with a whole lot of spicy and sour chutney on top. Also, the other dishes weren't all that great either.

Just regular fare. What I was surprised about was, the sizzlers did not have any rice/noodle base. Just some veggies and a potato jacket.PRICE :- I felt it was slightly overpriced. It would have been justified had the food been great, but alas, that ain't the case.SERVICE :- Nothing extraordinary.

Tangerine Stinks, Sucks - Stay Away from Tangerine
Oct 25, 2006 11:14 PM5452 Views

Yesterday, it was the 10th time I visited Tangerine restaurant on M.G.Road (near Coffee House). Last time (9th time) I went was a couple of months back, when I was as impressed with the food, hospitality and service as I was on my first visit.

Yesterday, we went to the restaurant in a group of 15 with regular expectations. To my shock, the interior was stinking with suffocating smoke. When I asked for the manager, out of the blue, jumped Mrs Sushma B, declaring that she was the managing director, and announced that the new management had taken over from the past management a month back. She is the most uncouth, uncultured, boorish restaurant-manager I have ever experienced in Bangalore. She declared that whether the AC works or not, the customers will have to live with it. She was discourteus to the children in our group, sarcastically saying "they are no VIPs". She also ordered us "Sit down and make no fuss about the AC and (stinking) ambience. When I, being an MD, can adjust, why can't you all?"

Whether Sushma B is an MD or a waitress, I don't care. I am a customer, I pay money, and I want good food, service and courtesy.

As far as the buffet was concerned, the Chicken Kabab was ok. The rest of the items on the menu were shitty stuff. The Naan was harder than rubber. Have you heard of chicken sweet corn soup filled with green chillies? And the so-called live Mongolian counter had no more the stuff it used to - no seafood, no prawns. The number of items on the menu has been cut down by half. The service staff were busy watching TV and absolutely indifferent to the customers. And at the helm, the words of Sushma B were stinking like rotten fish! Perhaps this aspect can compensate for absence of "fish' from the menu..:-)

No wonder that besides us, there was no other customer. Folks who used to flood this restaurant are now avoiding it - and for very strong reasons. And dear "MD", if you are reading this note, you can bet that you have lost 15 more.

Sizzlingly kewl

I always thought Bangalore lacked some good restaurants which serve sizzlers. Tycoon on Infantry Road closed down some time back and I stopped visiting Indi Joes after I read a case of food poisoning which happened there.

But Tangerine is a real savior for sizzler lovers. It offers an entire gamut of non veg and veg sizzlers and each one of them is a must try. My personal favourite being Chicken Louisa. Each continental sizzler is served with boiled vegetables (asparagus, baby corn, cauliflower and carrots) and a boiled potato with a cream topping (Health conscious eaters might want to omit the cream). One also has an option of choosing pickled potatoes instead of the boiled one. That's the accompaniment with the Indian sizzlers.

The restaurant has good ambience with dim lights. Rubber wood furniture with chimneys overlooking each table - acting as vents. Service is excellent. Thankfully the Chef doesn't mind my tinkering with the sizzler sauces and make a concoction which appeals most to my pallette. An ideal place for a romantic meal.

Besides sizzlers, the restaurant offers Indian cuisine and thus is not a disappointment for foodies who might want to eat something Indian.

Pricing is very reasonable. Sizzlers are in the range of 120(veg) - 200 (non veg). The portions are large and while I am able to finish my order, I have seen couples at times sharing a sizzler between the two of them. If you opt for starters that might indeed be the thing to do. Ice tea is a must try.

Location : While coming straight from Domlur on Indiranagar 100Ft road, once you cross Pai/KFC square (where 100Ft road meets CMH road), you need to come further down. Tangerine is about 100 meters after Dominos in the same line.

Parking: Is available on the road side.

Meal for two : Rs. 450

Indranagar sizzles (new review-realized my mistake
Aug 19, 2005 04:03 PM4042 Views

I had been there only once and was really enchanted by the ambience and what all they have in their menu.

Their speciality is sizzlers and I have never seen so specific theme restaurants in my life. This was the first one which all the diners getting sizzled and made felt like they are treated specially (put in hot seats kinds). Due to the sizzlers there is for sure to have a lot of smoke in the place so they had concealed lampshades and also exhausts.

Nice crispy chilly veg non-veg sea food or land food they can put anything into a sizzler or make anything into a sizzler. It was hard to believe and also I could not afford all of them to see what each in the menu looked like.

I ordered a sizzler with cheese and potato - with a dash of lemon.

I bet you will like all of them. They have some creative indian style sizzlers also which will make you think why did your mom never cooked one but hey it's oot your mom who is wrong it's the creative thinking of the shef who made indian sizzlers.

Have fun but keep a brake to your passion of eating cause you will be in sweat if you see the bill cause the dishes are kinda costly. And I do have a habit of not seeing the costs if I like the name and always regret of paying a lot afterwards, but I do love what I have.

Have fun...

Also sorry to all those folks who read my review earlier as I had done some typo mistake copy mistake also and copied the b;lore times version of the review than mine and later also deleted my review as I had already made a web copy - that is what I thought. Please read and send comments.
