Review of SGVU PhD Program Enrollment Experience
My experience with the SGVU PhD program enrollment has been deeply disappointing. I initially intended to join the PhD course starting in July 2024 and completed all necessary requirements, including an entrance exam and a supposed personal interview. However, from the start, I encountered numerous issues and misleading practices that made the entire process feel dishonest.
Firstly, the admission process was managed through a third-party organization called SRM, which communicated on behalf of SGVU. I paid an initial fee of approximately 26, 000 INR, after which SRM introduced a so-called SGVU program coordinator. This person facilitated the entrance exam, allegedly created by SRM, and arranged a "personal interview" that, in reality, was never conducted.
After this stage, SRM informed me that I was "selected" and asked for a remaining payment of 210, 000 INR. I was approached by SRM representatives, including a person named Nishu, and later by a finance team member, Tanu, who pressured me to pay the full amount upfront or take out a high-interest loan at 18%.
It became increasingly clear that SRM was operating independently of SGVU in a way that raised serious concerns. When I attempted to reach SGVU directly about my enrollment status, I was informed that my details were not even in their database. This has led me to believe that SGVU and SRM have a questionable arrangement, possibly to bypass proper enrollment processes and retain fees without transparency. Furthermore, I've learned that the UGC has canceled online programs, which adds to the uncertainty surrounding this program's legitimacy.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise against enrolling in the SGVU PhD program through SRM or any similar third-party arrangement. Prospective students should be cautious of these tactics, as they risk losing both money and personal information.
