Sugar N Spice, MG Road, Bangalore Reviews

Bangalore India
Sugar N Spice off Kammanahalli is okay
Jan 04, 2010 04:18 PM 1733 Views

I just read the only review about Sugar N Spice or SNS. I think the fellow that wrote the review is a bit too harsh, but that's ok, no hard feelings.

When you see SNS from the street and as you approach it, you immediately notice how busy that cafe is.

Its always packed, full house.why? The basics, its a place for many of the local, singles, students and the like to hang out. Some just get off work, want to relax over an Americano and a hookah.

SNS is not the type of place where you go for a quiet evening.no way Jose!

Its really not for a family, unless you go there during the mid afternoon when there is no one there.

The staff, yeah they have a bit of difficulty with English.well so do most people in Bangalore. They speak Hindi perfectly.so if you have any questions address them in Hindi, if you can. The owners are always verifying the order to make sure its correct, which is rather friendly.

The number one reason I go there is because of its local, its close to my house and its an open air cafe. Its a great place to people watch.I haven't found another in the area that is appealing or laid back.

If you want Global Street Cafe experience you need not to bother with SNS. SNS is a community cafe with locals, artists, and students from abroad. Just a chill venue.no hype no pretensions.

By the way, if you have the opportunity, try out their bountiful veggie pizza, its good.

Oh you can check out the blog they have https://sugarandspicecafe.blogspot.com/

Avoid Sugar N Spice @Kammanahalli-B'lore
Dec 21, 2009 11:24 AM 2590 Views

Hi,

This is just to make all people staying in and around Kammanahalli-Bangalore aware of experience at Sugar N Spice so that you may not spoil your evening.

I had visited Sugar N Spice Café at Kammanahalli(Opp to Dominos outlet) on a Sunday at around 7:30. I unfortunately had been there with my family and my experience was extremely bad.

1.       The person who took my order had no Idea what each item was.

2.       It very much over priced.

3.       I had ordered for a Ribbon Sandwich and he had taken the order. After sometime the owner of the restaurant asked us what we had ordered. We said we had ordered for Ribbon Sandwich. She said was the order taken because we do not have provide ribbon sandwich. I said yes. After sometime I was served bread and tomato sauce with cheese slice in between and they said this was ribbon sandwich. Cost was Rs.55.

4.       We did not get two items even though they had accepted the order.

Now, things get worse.

a.       Saw a DOG coming out of the Kitchen and was staying near the billing counter and the restaurant folds simply did not bother to move the dog from there.

b.      They refused to give me a bill. When I said I would not pay without a bill they took a piece of paper(it did not have any name of restaurant and no bill number as well) and just scribbled on it and then added a 15% service charge(which was not there when they initially told me the amount I need to pay). There was no mention about the 15% service charge in the menu card as well.

c.       Smoking Hookah was allowed in public and outside the restaurant as well and the person preparing the Hookah first took a few puffs.

d.      Playing cards was also allowed in the restaurant in public.

Going by the above mentioned points. I strongly recommend people to avoid that restaurant and never go to that restaurant with your family.
