Hello friends

Recently we went to manali, and stayed in this beutiful hotel Solang valley Resort.

Hotel is almost 8 km away from main city of Manali which is good to be away from crowdes city.

Entrance of the hotwl is very beautiful with a big lawn full of colorful flowers welcoming you.

Lawn has small playing area for kids and an adjoining restaurant.

Hotel has 2 types of rooms, River facing and Hill facing rooms. Bothe the sites are extremeky beautiful

Rooms are quite spacious with adjoining balconies, from where you can see the vuew around

Hotel has a spa, and they usually give one complementory session of an hour to their guests.

The buffet breakfast is good if not excellent. And in evening they have lits of activities like bollywood song show, folk dance show and fun games.

During day time also they have some fun activities for kids.

You can enjoy A-la-carte lunch in any one of their restaurant.

Dinner is also buffet dinner which is good sonetimes with live song sessions .

In all I enjoyed staying here.

3.5 star out of 5 to this hotel

Manali is a nice hill station, and there are many hotels, resorts to stay. My cousins have visited Manali recently. But if you have good budget, than choose this place to stay Solang Valley Resort.

First of all, if anyone gets chance to visit Manali, He or She must be there for explore nature of Manali, but if you want that resort you are choosing to stay is also be a good place, than choose this Solang Valley resort only, little expensive but full of worth.

It is about 10 kilometer far from Main Manali, but the view from this resort or the location of this resort I can't explain in words. We can painting this awesome view, a resort on Riverside and other side Mountains of snow.

You do not have to go far, you will get many photos here only to capture in camera. After all this view just from Hotel, I forgot food room etc.

This hotel's staff is good, professional, food is quite good. Steam food is superb [pure vegetarian] Bedrooms are good, clean and best thing view from bedroom.

With refer to my booking from 13-15th Aug09, inspite of giving the reception 1 day prior notice for booking of taxi for rohtang pass they failed to do so.

The taxi was confirmed for 10am and at 10.30am after having our breakfast on asking the reception they told us that the same could not be arranged. from innova/qualis they came down to alto/Maruti Van. after coming to such a distant place from delhi our whole vacation was spoilt as we were not able to go to rohtang pass.

moreover at the time of check out we requested for some additional discount/apology letter for our compensation to which the reception agreed. but after giving the full payment on good faith they refused to give us the letter stating that the same shall be issued by taxi union. When we had given our booking to the resort it was their duty to ensure the arrangement. After much discussion we finally got a letter against our complaint.

The reception also confirmed that due to heavy rush/better commission (Rs.200-500) the union must have diverted the taxis. inpsite of having such a reputed/established resort they are unable to maintain the relations/goodwill with the taxi union resulting the taxis are diverted for commission like Rs200-500. For such a small amount our whole trip was spoilt as the reception failed to consider the amount /demand from the taxi union in view of customer satisfaction.

After looking for the best options in manali and reading some good reviews , we opted for this resort. We took the all inclusive volvo package from delhi . Following was our experience(both good and bad)1) For the bus from delhi to manali , I had to call up the office multiple times on the day of travel. They guys had no clue on which bus we were booked in.

I think they never made the bookings in advance and handed us the seat number. At last minute the guy from the office put us on some bus with seat number changed and the bus was not in good condition hygenically. We started an hour late.2) Reached manali on time. Had to wait for the pick for half hour after calling the resort office. We were the last ones to leave the bus stand.3) No boys to pick up the luggage , had to wait in reception for half hour. Other guests had similar complaints4) Rooms are average compared to the price paid. The seat cover in the room was broken.

After first shower , bathroom was full of water due to drainage problem. Had to ask multiple times to get it cleaned.5) The resort has excellent location and view. There are ample activities for kids and my kid enjoyed thoroughly there. Resort people arranged some events in the evening which were good fun.6) Food was excellent and the restaurant staff is great. We really enjoyed all our meals and I can say that it was the best part of the stay there.7) The hotel administrative staff is very poorly organized and seems to be lost. The reception guys sat with us 3 times explaining our schedule for next 3 days and we told on which day we want to do what 3 times . He noted it down as well but starting next day all was goofed up. The days were interchanged. I feel that the staff needs to take more ownership and responsibility8) The best part of the events was that the resort arranges either a guy or a taxi for the entire event duration. For eg for our trekking activity , one local guy took us to the place and got all the activities done , we enjoyed that throughly. Similarly on other days we had taxi for local site seeing and other events .

That was very relaxing.9) The must do activities is high altitude paragliding from top most position and snow biking in rohtang .10) Do not buy any arguments about the different types of views from the room. One lady was given the river side view and she created a scene at the reception because she could not see the river from her room. Would recommend that buy the cheapest rooms there since all are same. Their garden is the best place to enjoy all natural beauty around.

Some couples left other resorts in manali after staying few days and moved to salong valley for its view and kids play area and they really were enjoying the stay here afterwards.11) On return again there was lot of hassel related to bus seat bookings and I had to spent half hour of phone calls and chasing guys to get the right bus -- THUS in short , do not book the bus service from resort people. Do it on your own independently12) I could not make the price comparison for hotel arranged events and in case I would have done on my own. If you have been to manali , would suggest to do on your own. Though we enjoyed our stay overall in manali very much , it could have been much better if the hotel administrative staff could meet the expectation they set at the time of making the bookings. The property is very good , but the staff downgrades it to a 3 star category. If you go in summer , try places high up like solang valley for stay as in manali it can be pretty hot.

Worth every penny spent.....

Me and my wife decided to go for our honeymoon to manali. After 3 months of searching the web like a hawk I realised two things, the web has some "made up" ratings and reviews. Secondly there are two kinds of hotels in manali, one which is cheap and not worth staying in if you are on a honeymoon and second which is good but very expensive. In short I knew if I had to enjoy luxury at manali it would come for a price.

I zeroed down to Ambassador resort and Solang Valley resort. What I personally wanted was excellent service, excellent food and excellenty location/view and didnt want to compromise on that. And Solnag valley resort scored more on the last factor more than ambassador.

We booked the maharaja suite for around 34k for 5 nights 6 days with breakfast and dinner...expensive. But what followed in the coming days did justice to the kind of money we spent. We had spent 3 nights in Eastbourne Resort (shimla) in the expensive superior deluxe room and our expectations vis a vis the room and food had risen.

Lets start with the rooms....The rooms are spacious, neat and clear, bathrooms well maintained. It was not a luxury freaks dream come true but still good. There is no 24 hrs hot water in the hotel (something which was disappointing) but from what I gathered is that hardly any hotels have 24 hrs hot water facility. We were upgraded to the presidential suite for the 4th and 5th night. It was AWESOME. It has a spacious living room and bedroom, huge balcony and a HUGE bathroom with a jacuzzi.....now thats what I call luxury....(check out the pics). So as far as rooms are concerned I will give it a 4.5 out of 5 (-0.5 because of no 24hrs hot water for a ITC welcomheritage chain of resorts).

Food : Me and my wife both are big time foodies. The food was excellent, though the choice was limited in the buffet system. Though everyday we had a different spread. Same with breakfast. Dont forget to try the mushroom on toast. It left us craving for more.

Though the choice of desserts on the menu is limited they are all very good. However the food is very expensive if you are ordering from the menu.....food gets a 4.8 out of 5, though I am sure my wife would give it a complete 5.

Service : This is where I was the most impressed. In all the reviews on the net I had read about solang, special mention was made about the service and the courteous staff over there. And this was one of the things which prompted me to go for this resort , coz if you are not comfortable with the service the whole fun will be damaged. Right from the reception (Mr ravi - always smiling and warm) to the laundry guys, to the waiters, everone is so well mannered and warm...they make you feel at home. Housekeeping is quick to respond and laundry is not too expensive either. I would give it a 5 out of 5 here.

Location : Astounding.......snowcapped mountains right in front of you and the serene sound of the river beas flowing makes you want to spend the whole day in your balcony but its too cold :).....awesome location......i think the best location and view any hotel has. (check the pics to believe it)

Others : they arranged for cultural programmes and stuff every night, massage etc etc. But what the heck I went there to enjoy luxury, food and the snow and I was not disappointed at all.

Me and my wife have no doubts about where we will be staying when we go to manali again.......
