If you suffer from dry, irritated, dark circles, hyper-pigmentation, rosacea, acne, oily skin, wrinkles, etc. Then this book is for you. I came across this book when I was in the library. For the heck of it, I checked it out. What blew me away was that she broke skin care down to a science and she goes into depth on the 16 possible skin types that one can have. I checked out the book so many times and returned it late so many times till finally I bought the book and it is worth every penny. Granted her system is not perfect, meaning that a person can dry skin one day and oily skin the next, she offers guidelines on products that may help, granted it is not a perfect suggestion. For example, the sunscreens she recommended for my skin type, which I tried in the past, has severely irritated my skin all over, not just my face.
But no system is perfect and plus I think I am allergic to soy in skincare products. But I love the fact that she recommends products for various price ranges, but the ranking system is a bit off in my opinion. For example I bought a soap that I would never in a million years would have purchase for myself. I recall seeing a commercial advertising this soap many years ago but never wanted to try it because it looked too harsh. I wished I ad tried this soap sooner, it would have save me so much heartache and money.
With this recommended soap, keeping a simple routine, and carefully reading the ingredients before I buy, I can honestly say that my skin is improved tremendously. I like the fact that she explains which ingredient can improve your skin and which ingredients can worsen your skin condition. Granted her product recommendation is limited, it makes sense because companies come out with hundreds of products within the year. So it is nearly to impossible to keep up with.
This book has helped me save money in terms of purchasing skincare products. Now it doesn't cure the itch for me wanted to try new products but this book keeps me educated on what ingredients I need to look for. Please be aware that this book should only be used as a guide, not a cure-all for all of your skin problems since everyone's skin is like a fingerprint, each one unique from each other. I recommend this book for anyone, male or female, young and old. I can't sing enough praises of this book. This book is highly recommended.
