I was voyaging home after my exam from Delhi to Mumbai by means of carriers and I was truly eager to backpedal home. In any case, the aircrafts I picked Deccan carriers was not a decent alternative. I booked flight 1st time a fly Simplifly Deccan airlines, my trolly suitcase got damaged, a crack and a dent. Nevertheless the agent at the airport had filed a report and taken a picture of the damage; I had to complete and submit additional documents. Nevertheless it was crystal clear that my suitcase was damaged they refused to reimburse using as an argument that I submitted the requested documents not within the alloted time limit. this is a weak argument used to escape from their responsibilities to reimburse their customer. My first time with simplifly deccan airlines, has been at the same time the last time I will fly with them will never book ticket again in deccan.

On 6th February I took a flight from Kashmir to Amritsar using Simplifly deccan. No complains although nothing was memorable. Most likely because my baggage was underweight and I had no Handcarry. On 9th February I had another flight with Simplifly deccan from Amritsar to Delhi. This time my baggage exceeded the weight limit. I had no handcarry but the staff was adament I remove items from the baggage and handcarry them. It is a simple request which can be adhered if communicated well. I was in queue for almost half an hour and shoved left and right between counters.


I maintained my cool because I understand the staff was busy. Once again the counter staff told me to continue waiting as passengers from earlier flights will need to check in first. Does that mean the counter staff will rudely tell you off to remove the excess weight immediately or pay the additional fees. I am expected to wait for ages for the counter to serve me but when I am need to remove the items from my baggage, I have to let all other people to finish checking-in? Another group of passengers were complaining and they got served immediately. So should I assume that manners are not appreciated by simplifly deccan?


As a result the staff does not have respect for the passengers? My flight to Delhi was scheduled at 4.10pm. My boarding pass said 2.55pm. When I asked the staff about the timing, they don't know what time will the flight depart. They told me to wait and listen to the announcement. How much better can this experience with Simplifly deccan get?

This was my  first Flite from I was travelling and I have a bad real experience .This Airline is not good at all.


I was travelling from srinagar to delhi .I had to book my flite through some other way .Online booking was not happening .It created fuss for me .Finally when I booked the flite.i gave extra charges for the food stuff which they provide in the plane.


on the day when I had to leave for delhi .I was at the srinagar aiport .I collected my boarding pass.I was waiting for the departure and the flite was late for 15 minutes and then again waited .It was delayed almost half an hour.


I was dissapointed to book this flite but I did it unfortunately and when I entered the plane .It take off .The plane was almost so degraded . so noise  and ups and downs due to the structure of the plane which was not maintained.


Then food was not given on time.The menu I chose with the flite which I booked and charged extra to me was not even given to me .A lot of changes were there.Finally I reached.


The result which I came to know that no to travel by this airline .Its good for us.

I took the middle class seat for my travel and I approached the tickets counter and they had  no idea what exactly the time was flight boarding. Finally after waiting 2 hours my plane finally was ready to board the passenger and as I approached the terminal they told me to stand aside and the  after 10 minutes they took the ticket and said they thought I was not having a proper  ticket. Then we boarded to place and I can tell you it was so small plane and so tight that even one person couldn't move properly and put their luggage and it was taking very much time and even air hostess were confused.


There were 3 rows of seats on left and right and on the middle space to walk which was really less. The seats were stiff and were really uncomfortable and didn't had the proper  space for legs. I was really uncomfortable during the whole journey.


The food was still ok but air hostess were not responding most of the time and when I asked for water once she didn't gave any she just plain ignored me.


The people sitting with me were really taking up my space as the seats were very tightly pack and it was such a disgusting experience.


I would never chose this airline as the experience is as same as the buses.

So I don't do many journey from the airlines but when you have a bad experience you don't need to travel all around the world to feel that. I HD to go from Delhi to Madhya pradesh for the purpose of my work and I was traveling after a long time and got my tickets provided by my company from air deccan.


I didn't traveled before from their airlines and it was my first experience. I wen to the ticket counter and everything was ok there, my queries were answered and they responded to everything.


When boarding to the flight, the flight attendent was a bit rude just snatched ticket. That didn't felt right. The seating conditions was also bad I was not impressed and the seats were really tight and uncomfortable. The were stiff as a rock and you cannot move them around to get your seat accurate position.


I was sitting with my back straight and it didn't provided much comfort at all and the whole travel was really tiring and I couldn't sleep at all.


I am not a looking  for attention when I travel but the aur hostess were just plain ignoring me and was not responding most of the time. Also the food was just ok but I wasn't happy with it as I was still hungry and I don't eat that much.


The whole travel went by my back straight and no way to lay back for a little bit and I couldn't even stand as I was not told to.


Instead of a normal or even ok journey it was really exhausting and overall a very frustrating experience.

Well.if you see the Air deccan punchline.Simlify.Lowest transportation.Everyday.Anytime.


I think its all bul.h*t. Their flights get off daily. All different flights area unit late for over four hours. the rationale they furnish is Operational reasons. Refund policy is very poor. If they cancel a flight, attributable to that we tend to might have to cancel a round-trip ticket, they wont leave the cancellation charge conjointly. They charged ME Rs a thousand for no fault of mine. Now, i'm fighting for the reversal of  the cancellation charges.


They say, its not Air Deccan's policy. client care doesnt apprehend something.puts you on hold for each straightforward question you raise and so provides you negative answers. typically they wont even answer calls.


My suggestion: Book a flight in Air Deccan only its associate degree fully necessity. Otherwise, paying a bit a lot of and recovering service isn't a foul plan

I been travelling in Airdeccan quite some time. Yesterday I supposed to travel from AP to Bangalore. I need some clarification and I tried to reach call center from saturday. I been trying again and again, but I couldnt able to reach any of the executive.


The message is all the agents are busy, please wait. What nonsense is this  how can a cuctomer will be on hold for more than 10 mins, that too calling them while roaming. Even after so many time the purpose is not resolved. Really I am sorry for Airdeccan to have this kind of STUPID call center other wise overall Its OK

I will write this review exactly in 10 points. I hope this will cover all relevant things.


This I experienced on one of my goa - mumbai trip




  1. Being a low cost airline I do not expect 5 star treatment but professionalism is something which can not be taken for granted at any given time. The casual attitude of one staff spoils the name of any organization.




  2. To make someone a repeat customer, you have to be friendly with everyone and not just those who are frequent fliers. The check in staff greeted only one person in the que not everyone.




  3. The location of the check in counter is such that you have to ask for it.




  4. Doing a job like a job and doing a job with a smile is a totally different thing. At least you can say good morning or good evening to customers?




  5. I would like to tell one thing that at least water is what they give you for free




  6. I do not know about other times but my flight was on schedule




  7. Take off and landing was smooth.




  8. Voice inside the cabin was not very clear as well as the accent.




  9. Washroom was ok




  10. The service is nothing unique, everyone offers the same.






Mr. Gopinath, how would you stand out and get noticed?

Most of my reviews surround train and air travel and although I notice service and quality issues, I am not a fussy passenger onboard.


In most cases, if I get my privacy, good food and minimal interaction, I will come back satisfied from my travel experience. All this changed in my last experience of flying the supposedly "good times"


I was booked on chennai - mumbai's last KF Red departure at 8.30 pm. First things first, the tickets were expensive..a Spicejet flight 30 mins prior to KF Red was selling almost 600 bucks cheaper at 4600 but I was hell bent on KF as I though after a hard day trip in the heat I could use some comfort on better seats and a better meal.


As I saw the spicejet flight close boarding and take off, I got the news that my flight was delayed by an hour. So here I am, with an expensive low cost ticket, waiting for one extra hour. I must appreciate that they gave me lounge access basis my gold membership even on a KF Red flight.


After 30 minutes I was informed of another 30 minutes delay. At this point the only thing that could cool me off was a pint of beer. So I went up to the 2nd floor lounge at the Chennai Airport to swig some. The only beer available was a local brew called Golden Eagle. I love experimenting so I ordered a bottle and was not disappointed. Crisp and cold, just what I wanted..but... sorry I am drifting away... :-)


Back to the flight..the boarding process was fine and onboard I was allocated a non-reclining seat! I complained why the boarding agent did not inform me of this and the crew told me to adjust for the moment and they will try to move me once all passengers are seated.


I have to say this was the most uncomfortable aircraft seat I have been to EVER in my life. Cramped, hard and extremely uncomfortable. The only solace was that I found the flight almost 40% empty... but not for long..read on.. After takeoff, and seat belt signs switching off, I got up and hunted for a comfortable reclining aisle or window seat..but I was shocked to see that almost 50% of the aircraft's seats were non reclining. I did not understand why an airline would do that. I counted and found that 14-16 rows in a 32 row aircraft were non reclining rows. This was just unacceptable. When asked, the crew sais that is a special seat configuration. Gruntling I moved to the emergency exit non reclining seat where I had some leg space.


Onboard meal service is a recent KF initiative and I must say it went as wrong as possible. We got a rice meal which was at best a mix of pulav, biryani and zeera rice. Tasteless and smelling of excessive condiments, I did not enjoy the meal at all. Left half of it and waited to reach my beloved Mumbai... Thankfully we landed in 2.5 hrs but to my dismay we landed on terminal 1A!!! As far as I know KF Red airlines depart and land at term 1b and KF flights use terminal 1a. KF needs to sort this mess out of mixing airport terminals.


I was a taxi traveller but if I had family of friends picking me up, I wouldnt know what terminal to tell them! Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the whole experience pre boarding to post landing and will never travel on KF red unless fares are a lot cheaper than other LOW COST carriers or it is the only flight taking me to my next destination..

I am not a person who expects lot of attention and service. All I want is to have comfortable journey.


I have travelled once in AD that too becoz I had no choice, I had to fly back here in Mumbai soon. I had purchased tickets from the counter itself from Trivandrum. I had no issues over there, counter staff were informative and very patient to hear my queries and answering them too. Flight got scheduled and like the other flight service this one was also a bit late however once I was inside the plane I noticed very evidently how the seats were. Seats were very uncomfortable, i started getting back pain as the seats where fixed(You can't push it back for getting that sleeping position, it rock solid!), the seats got a steel made kind of arm resting thing, it made me believe I am in some wired seat and i would be soon electrocuted! I have flied dozen of times however I never experience such an intense pain in my ears because of change in air pressure, I thought may be I am growing old however my friend whose dada is in technical team of AIR INDIA told me that the way air bus is made makes lot of difference in handling air pressure, temparature etc.inside the plane. No wonder AD bought the cheapest models from boeing.


You have to pay for food and they are no cheap though I believe there should be difference in the food and service after Mallya merged with this bald pal. The plane crew were like any other I have experienced, friendly and ready for providing service. The food is from kingfisher kitchen(I could see the packed food have kingfisher logos) so it was great in taste(not in psychological way, it was really nice!). The pilot flew smoothly and there weren't any hollywood kinda experience and weather was also favoring. Flight reached Mumbai on time I expected however my journey was never been so uncomfortable.


I am a guy who nags the least and compromises to some extent but this experience was really bothering. You might act like a friend to me but you know it hurts when you pinch!


Low cost carriers

It is very true that  airdeccan flights and the standards of flying is very risky, as competition is there in the air I would recommend to use other airlines, like JETLITE or INDIGO so that the LCC can not dig more holes to our pockets, as the currents crises over the fuel many airline have reduced their airbase.


But still we should thank to them that we atleast have some connectivity. and these Low cost Carriers (LCC), are scarry coz when and what moment they would be cancelled with out evening informing or over boarding in other aircrafts.


I was travelling from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam and after reaching airport which is 48 Kms from city after reaching airport, on checking they said that flight is 2 hrs delay, and later they said 1 hr. and when I was in the aircraft at that time I have received a message stating that there is a delay of 3 hrs.


And once on my way to mumbai, after reaching hyderabad waitied for 4 hrs and then I was informed that flight is canceled, and there is no facilty for carrying to other air plane, now I had lost my that days business meets. This is not in the case with LCC, the major like kingfisher, or  airindia or jet also has the same, but here you are secure that if there is any thing they treat you good.

Remember the movie'Pyar to hona hi tha'? Kajol is petrified of flights, yet love makes her take her first ever flight from paris to India and her reactions to the flight are theatrically comical. While watching the movie, I had laughed my head off and wondered whether people like her really existed. After flying with air deccan for the  first time, I decided the script writer probably flew the same flight to come up with something like that:O


Well anyways, so I was to take this small two hour flight from pune to bangalore. And I was really excited about it.  I had been saving to be able to afford this peak season flight(sometime around diwali) to my parents and pleasantly surprise them. Little did I realise that air deccan, in the spirit of all festivity, had planned its own unpleasant little surprise for me!


The check-in was with little hiccups. I dont remember precise details, because the drama which followed occupied most of my memory space, pertaining to this event. But I do remember heading off in a very irritated mood to proceed towards the security-check.  The flight was predictably delayed and I spent the hour fuming on the uncomfortable torn foam chairs of the airport.


When I got the the dingy flight,  I realised that the seat I had been alloted was neither window, nor aisle. I must mention I am a tall woman, very proud of being tall, but at that precise moment I wish I could just shower myself with a shrink spray so that I could squeeze into the seat alloted to me. What made the situation worse was that I was given a seat right between two guys. I had never been more uncomfortable and claustrophobic in my entire life. In the three seats adjoining mine, another female was facing a similar predicament. The gentleman in the adjacent aisle seat smiled and exchanged seats with her, so that we could at least be comfortable for the two hour journey which lay ahead of us.


After taking off to a very shaky start, I had hoped that I would sleep till destination beckoned. But instead I found that my knuckles had turned white because of the death grip I had on the handlebars of my seat! To say that the flight was turbulent would have been an understatement. I felt like I was riding a horse in the middle of the freakin heavens and it felt like absolute hell! My stomach was queasy and had I not had an aversion to throwing up, I would be displaying the contents of my early morning breakfast in a brown paperbag.


My neighbour sensing my panic, started urging me to look out of the window at white fluffly clouds. She was making light by asking me to imagine the clouds into various shapes.


"There!" she exclaimed pointing over my shoulder, " does that nto like a white fluffy guinea pig?"


I turned my neck with the dexterity and grace of a spodilitis patient and the white fluffy guinea pig of hers scampered away as the flight did another almost sommersault!


I was never more glad to have touched the ground. I scowled at the stewards with constipated smiles as I headed off, because not once had they made any attempt to ease the disastrous flight!

My thanks in the first place to God and then to Air-Decaan – for keeping me alive to write this piece!!



I have never been afraid of death, because I die everyday! The other reason of course is that I am not required to cry upon my death. But terrifying than the actual death is the thought of death ie being very near to death..and still surviving to tell the tale. But thanks to habit forming, we can get used to that too, like I have. I have travelled 8 times on Air-Deccan & nearly 4 times I felt I had to say my final prayers. Of these 4 on 2 occasions I did say my prayers!! Thanks to Air-deccan for making me think of God. ;-)


For those interested in numbers & history Air-deccan was founded my Capt R. Gopinath. Though it had humble beginnings, eventually it was the first of the low-cost no frills airline. Now they operate to some 54 domestic destination (many sleepy small towns too) with their 250+ flights a day. Finally this all culminated in Mr. Mallya buying stakes in Airdeccan. Now the two operate almost as one, what with counters, ticketing, route sharing, staff sharing et all happening.


My Experience: All of my flights with AD have been only in the southern sector & in their ATR crafts. I am of the opinion that there will always be fliers in India if the price if affordable. Once in the air all airlines are the same – we get to see clouds from all of their windows ;-) I personally don’t consider the interiors, seat cushion, colors, leg space, how-wide-the-hostess-smiled, their dress etc as parameters of comparison. They all look same to me.


Yes, even in other flights I have been faced with ‘turbulence’ but what I experienced on AD in those 2 flights is worth recounting, not just for the shrill it gave, but also for the theories I was able to come up with ;-). In other flights I had seen turbulence, shaking etc. But in 4 of AD flights, I got more than shaking; it was as if the nuts, bolts were giving away. But the recent 2 which made me say my ‘last prayers’ is something I can’t forget.


The Event: Here are the events that led me to postulate the below 2 theories! ;-)


I recently travelled to Vishakapatnam from Bangalore. The only direct flight makes a stop at tirupati in between. Check in, secutiry check, et all went smooth as usual. So was the takeoff too. Then comes the water supply & then the crew turn salesmen. They bring costly groundnuts, eatable & then they bring many other things as part of bid or buy. All was smooth until we reached over a hilly place over tirupati. Suddenly from nowhere we are engulfed in thick smoke(cloud?) & the craft begins to loose height, we can hear the whole plane body reverberating, shaking… I am reminded of all those National geographic channel programs on Air-crash investigations .. ( I begin to imaging, I survive the fall & the channel guys come to interview me!! ) . To add fuel to fear is all those scenes from Hollywood movies involving planes, crash, hijack etc ( wonder spreading fear is part time job of Hollywood? )..and I also said my prayers. .. prayers are heard, soon the plane becomes steady, everyone breathes easy. The cockpit announces we had a ‘turbulence’.. I am sure this was more than turbulence. On return the same things repeated, I said the prayers, but this time I had time to formulate 2 theories which you are not permitted to belive in ;-)


Theory 1 – Pothole theory: Imagine a Bangalore-hyderabad flight. Once the plane takes off & gathers height, it travels in a straight line to HYD. Now there are multiple invisible air tracks connecting BLR & HYD, at different heights. ( these are invisible just like the longitude & latitudes ). Depending on the cost the airlines are allotted which track to take. Which means that low cost airlines will get the cheapest of the tracks, which will have potholes in them, so the bumpy ride! The air tracks mostly resemble their counterparts on earth – the roads!


Actual reason is that low cost airlines often resort to cheap methods to cut cost, one of which is hiring cheaply available pilots from foreign countries, often aged & retired. No one knows whether they were flying planes or pesticide choppers there. Like our IT aspirants, they fake their experience & get jobs in AD etc. Their inexperience also results in bumpy rides.


Theory 2 – Bermuda Rectangle theory: I couldn’t notice the timing of turbulences on both occasions. It was over a hilly terrain near tirupati. So I am proposing that there is a Bermuda triangle like situation there. We could really feel the pull downwards. So if your craft doesn’t maintain certain height, it could well be sucked down. The place was a mountainous region with no habitation around. I am also of the opinion that the protruding peaks of these mountains are also responsible for creating potholes in the air tracks! ;-)


One negative point: Recently they have started charging a ‘rescheduling fee’ of Rs. 750 if you got for date changes in travel. To this they also add any difference in fair for the requested dates. I think this is not required if for the dates you are looking to change, the tickets are available, often with no changes in price.


My opinion of AD: I didn’t find anything different here in terms of facilities. You can take this if you believe in God. If you don’t, they will make you belive in God ;-) jokes apart AD is as good an operator as anyone else. You can buy tickets from their website, too. Don’t worry about potholes & Bermuda rectangles, if you have to fly & an Air Deccan is available, simply fly ;-)

AirDeccan Refund : Refund is pending since 06 June

I have booked the flight on 05 June 08 for Hyderabad to Goa & got that canceled next day 06 June. They have deducted Rs 750 per passenger( in my case we were 2 so 750 x 2= 1500)+ some charges which is arnd 300-400.


After the deduction of approx Rs 2000 they owe Rs 4000 approx to be refunded to me within 14 working days as per company policies. Its almost 2 months now( am writing on 26 July 08) and I haven't got the money.


If you call up to there call center they will extend the date by 4 days or 1 week. I am doing this from last 2 months.


Recently they told me that there refund process is manual and that's the reason. If you argue they will refer you a person name Eshwar in Bangalore refund department who is reachable @ 080-41584062, 5082 / eshwar.c@airdeccan.net . But of no help as I didn't got thru the numbers and haven't got any reply thru mail .

Is there any way I can file a suit against them with ease
