It is a small, beautiful town located in Karnataka. surrounded by lush green and the linganamakki dam on three side, the sigandur village is encircled by the holy Sharavati River. This place is known for sigandur chowdeshwari temple. The place is very beautiful and you can see natural beauty here.

There is no direct road connection to sigandur. sigandur is at 40 km to sagara town. From there private buses are available to sigandur. Sagara is connected by road and rail. The bet time to visit this place is in mansoon.

Limited accommodation is available at the temple primises and no private lodge or restaurant. Temple also offer free foods to all visitor.

Apr 11, 2017 07:39 PM 9603 Views

I visited this place on 26th of March 2017 along with my office friends. It is nearly 40 kilometers from Sagar, Shimoga DIstrict and frequest buses are availavlie. Basically we have to cross the river sharavathi by ferry to reach the chowdeshwari temple. Even we can take our own vehicles to visit this place as ferry(lanuch) facility is available. If you are visiting this place for the first time then plan properly as it will take more then half day to visit this palce and come back. This is very cool place to visit with family. Along with this I am also adding my trip photos.

Beautiful piece of nature

Shimoga is my husband's native place and sigandur is located in Shimoga and so I have visited this place a lot of times.

There are thick forests and the river sharavathi flows in between the forests. This place is famous for sigandur devi chowdeshwari temple which is located in the forest.

You have to cross the river to reach this temple. First you have to board a launch(a big boat like thing) and cross the river and from there, you will get buses to go to the temple.

The temple is wonderful and you can see the beautiful forests and hills behind the temple. Chowdeshwari devi here is said to be very powerful and your problems will be solved if you pray her. I just love its environment so much that it so hard to come back from that place.

That fresh air, the cool weather and if you go in rainy season, it keeps raining the whoel day sometimes and the weather will always be chill. If you happen to visit sigandur, also plan for jog falls, it is near by and one fo the famous falls in India.I totally recommend this place to everyone.

I have visited this place for more than 3 times and it is located in shimogga,

I had been there in the month of june and the weather was so cool that the rain was coming without expecting!and that was awesome!

There is sigandureshwari temple which they say that the godess sigandureshwari is very powerful, and you can visit western ghats as well, and you will have to go in launch to reach

the sigandureshwari temple and you will get a bus which goes to the temple, and going in launch was feeling awesome in that kind of weather! if you are a nature lover then you can enjoy more!

It's best and feels good in monsoon, so my advice is to visit this place in monsoon! you can make a swaraj mazda private bus if you are going with your family. there are hotels in shimogga.I recommend this place for people to visit  atleast once.

This is a wonderful place located in North Karnataka famous for its beauty and the temple in the thick forest of western ghats.

I have been to this place 2 times and have enjoyed the weather and the wonderful treat of nature to the eyes.

The best time to visit is post monsoon when there is light rain and the place is very cool and awesome for a trip.

The river sharavathi flows in Sigadur village and on the other side of the river, there is a forest where you can find the temple of a goddess.

You have to take the boat to cross the river and from there, there are buses which go into the forest and to the temple.

You can find lots of people visiting this temple everyday, as  the goddess is known to be very powerful. This is a best place to visitif you are planning to visit shimoga. I recommend this to all lovers of nature.

Wonderful place for nature lovers!

Sigandur is located near Shimoga, Karnataka. It is a small town where the river sharavathi flows.

Since it is near the famous jog falls, you can plan a trip to both these places one day each.

Sigandur has beautiful forests on the way and best time to visit is during and after monsoons if you want to experience that cool weather and the wonderful climate of that region.

Sigandur is famous for its temple, located in the forest, which requires you to cross the river and take a bus to the very old, but powerful Chowdeshwari temple.

It is totally a wonderful feeling. You have to go near the river and a boat like thing, called launch, which takes around forty people and a few vehicles at once can be boarded to cross the river. You can see a few water birds in the river and the landscape view is beautiful! It takes around 10 to 15 minutes to cross the river, and from there, you will get buses to the temple which is located in the jungle.

If you happen to take a car or something, you can take it in the launch and drive to the temple. Since we had been in a tempo traveler, in a group of around 12 or 13, we took the bus.

The temple is awesome and its surroundings are very calm and refreshing.

If you go behind the temple, you can find the beautiful forest with such fresh air! You wouldn't feel like leaving that place. I totally loved being there.

You can come back by the same route and the launch keeps coming and going all day and there were two of them.

This is a must visit place if you are planning to go to Shimoga!
