I do not have any allegiance to one particular brand of toilet soap as my choice is governed by the availability at the time of need and what offers go with it. If two brands are available and one has an offer of four bars for the price of three than I buy that. It is only when all things are equal that I stick, out of habit and nothing else, to one particular brand and that is Shield.
I am fortunate, I suppose, that being a bloke I pay little heed to advertisers and in any case I do not fancy a face like a baby’s bottom. I am quite happy to let my weather beaten and starting to wrinkle face, reflect my life as it has been. What some people might refer to as a “lived in” face.
After many years of using Fairy my latest purchase is Elida Fabergé’s Aqua Shield in a pack of four for £1.69. The scent is quite powerful but not too unpleasant and the turquoise green soap lathers quite well and removes all but the most stubborn of muck. Being retired the chance of me collecting “stubborn” muck, are remote so the soap serves me well especially as the scent disappears after a few hours, which pleases my cat as he shies away from me after using it.
I notice that the marbling effect is not as prominent as it use to be but that does not indicate that the soap has any less of a deodorising effect. In fact I would venture the opinion that Shield is better as a deodoriser than in years gone by.
I strongly suspect that people with a delicate or sensitive skin could have problems with this soap but those who are clad in leather like me then Shield is as good as any on the market.
The thought occurs that having a Shield of toilet soap and a the sword of Dettol I would be a match for any muck attempting to take control.
