Sankara yatra A bad experience
Apr 27, 2019 03:34 PM2497 Views (via Mobile)

Sankara yatra is not an organised set up. I doubt their capability to handle Kailash yatra, when I started asking few questions they took a retreat. Also even though I paid advance and got a receipt they informed me that my name not available in their computer.i had to fight for 3 days to get confirmation. They apologised after that. They have become uncormfortable with me and I had to opt out. But now I feel I took a correct decision not to book in Sankara yatra.

Worst ever tour by Sankara Kailash Yatra
Apr 15, 2019 07:38 PM4350 Views

We were one of the poor and pitiable members in the Kailash Yatra in June, 2018. The Kailash Yatra tour was totally mishandled by the tour operator and they totally misused our faith in Hinduism and many fall prey as a victim to Sankara TV advertisements on Yatra.

ITS A TRAP.

No coordination from the time we landed in Lucknow. Partiality to the core in each and every move by tour operator. When we landed in Nepalgunj we were told that the Kit bag was not available despite the tour operator fully well what is the total number of bags required.

At the immigration place was one of the worst experience. From evening 2.00 p.m. to 11.00 no water, no food and no toilet. The tour operator didn't bring any water for ten hours. Everybody kept in the van for nearly ten hours. They didn't even provide any snacks leave the dinner part. I pitty the old age people who travelled all along without water and snacks. Most of the members are old and having sugar and bp. How can they survive without water and snacks? Very bad management. Despaite the fact they had one camp nearby at Hilsa they could have provided something to the old people. Immigration toilet was the very very worst many struggled with natures call. Poor ladies and old aged people who paid the money for suffering.

From there the partiality started from allotment of rooms and getting into helicopter. Its a known fact that the bigger group cannot be accommodated in the available helicopters. But you should formed a smaller group to take care. The bigger the group bigger the problem because of the inexperienced operator. I have seen well managed bigger and planned group. The management makes the difference. No planning in any where and everywhere.

Most important point to mention those who wish to take Parikrama. The operator collects a lot of money for parikrama horse and they pay a meagre amount to the horsewala.

The worst part of it they don't even care whether the horse takes you or not. They allot one horse for two people and one will stranded in the mountain. You have walk in the mountain. If you can walk then why should you pay for the horse.

We were collected a lot of money and the operator canvas for the horse, because they get more commission than anything else.

But left in the lurch. No horse to travel despite the payment of money. Language barrier you can't say anything to anybody.

You will be left all alone in the mountains to walk.

NO BODY WALKS THE TALK. I PITY THE PILGRIIMS. THE PITY PILGRIMS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CARRY EVEN WATER AND RAINCOAT DESPITE PAYING HUGE AMOUNT. YOU HAVE GET WET ICE RAIN IN THE MOUNTAINS. NO BODY CARE.

The darchan drama:

The operator placed partiality drama and allots good hotels to their whims and fancies.

The hotels themselves are displaying Not more than two people allowed in a room. But the operators allots four five people in a room. The problem is with high altitude as the night goes in age old people get suffocation due to many number of people allotted in a small room.

The return journey is more horrible than you imagine. We were stranded in a place called Simikot due to bad weather. The partiality the core took place. No flights operated due to bad weather. Only few helicoters operated. Thats the time for tour operators. Minting in money. They demanded 1000 dollars 75000 per person for drop which goes to the tour operator. The govt is providing the helicopter. He is taking the money. Who ever they want to take care were sent back to NepalKanj where you started.

You have to see the plight of pilgrims in Simikot due to bad weather. Food is scarce no supply from mainland due to bad weather. When they resume the flight service after two days, the tour operator become the God. The pilgrims are standing outside the small airport as beggars asking for their passport and ticket with the tour operator who will stand inside the airport where the security wont allow without passport and ticket.

But I thank the operator for providing the good accommodation and food except at immigration.

Think twice before taking any decision and read reviews

Very good experience

I had traveled to Kailash Manasarovar in 2017 through Sankara Yatra. Very decent and prompt service very through briefing before we left. We had a clear picture of what will come and how the yatra will be. Food was good throughout hotels were decent keeping in mind the yatras tough terrains. The best part was there was no hidden charges whatsoever. some of my friends who went through other agencies had a lot of hidden charges. all in all a good experience an would totally recommend.

Awesome experience with sankara yatra

We had been to turkey with sankara yatra this October 2018. The trip was organised very well and everything was so perfectly arranged by the team. They booked well rated hotel rooms as we were vegetarians the hotels where booked near veg restaurants. Very nice service by sankara yatra totally recommend.

Awesome Experience with Sankara Yatra
Apr 08, 2019 09:29 PM2270 Views

We had always wanted to visit all the Vaishnavi Kshetras in Tamilnadu & Kerala; our work commitments, education of children kept us busy for the past three decades. Now with our children settled and we retired from our jobs, we decided to take up this journey of visiting Vaishanvi kshetras.

After we heard lots of good things about Sankara Yatra, we went to their office and enquired about the 95 south india divya desham yatra. After, understanding that the yatra will begin in a week's time and having been satisfied with the response of staff we booked the tour with them by paying the advance amount. The centrally located cooperate office and courteous staff made our work easier.

We were picked from a central location on the day of the tour in a decent A/c, vehicle, The group mainly comprised of senior citizens, except a few of them who were middle aged.

The tour was very well managed, even if it was for 13days. We were given hygienic food, essential medicines were taken by tour manager. The vehicle was comfortable. Unlike other tour operators, we ere asked to adhere to time management, but still were able to complete poojas and seek darshan of the deities.

Sumptuous food was served in the temples, we were really happy as we were able to take prasadam at most of the temples and spend lot of time at the temples.

We were also fortunate to understand the mythology of the temple, explained by localities at some temples and by the priest himself when there was less crowd at some temples.

It was a very different and memorable experience for all of us who were not known at the start of tour but became good friends after the tour. I THANK SANKARA YATRA for conducting such a tour of visiting Vaishnavi kshetras.

I will definitely recommend SANKARA YATRA For all my friends and Relatives.

This is one of the worst experience we had with them. They had formed a watts app group where my name was not added even though I was a Yatri. They had added my sons number. Actually the arrangements they had made was terrible and they had their own privileged group and others were made to stay in a rat hole. When we raised objections to this along with e family in the group my son was removed from the group and we were totally disconnected. My family did now our whereabouts. Some how with total difficulty and influence one of our group member had in Nepal, we reached katmandu. Our experience I. This trip was terrible from day 1 as when we reached katmandu there was no one to receive us in airport and were stranded for more than 3 hours like beggars. When we were trying to contact their bangalore office they did not help us and after more than 3 hours we contacted the tour manager Murali and he was ignorant of our situation in spite of keeping him informed of our flight details. Throughout the yatra every time there was problem tour manager murali was never contactable. This is one of the worst trip we had in spite of paying more. We shall be happy if they will compensate for the trouble they have given us throughout the yatra from day 1 to end. Request at lease yatries to be careful next year and never travel with this after seeing the adverisement in Sankara tv??

Feedback on Kailash Manasaovar Yatra - 2018
Sep 19, 2018 09:02 PM5006 Views

This June I went with Sankar Yatra for Kailash Manasarovar. I had opted for the 15 days yatra with Rudra Homam at Darchen, Kailash.

Let me start with only one positive note: The food was decent, at least I did not see anyone getting affected by food poisoning.

The accommodation at Katmandu & Nepalgunj was good. We did not expect to get anything decent at Manasarovar, HIlsa & Simikot as they had told us about it during the briefing session.

But what I( we) did not like was the partiality shown to some of the yatres in providing the accommodation at Darchen & Kailash camp. Some fortunate people were accommodated in the best hotel at Darchen while some of us were put up in a rat hole with absolutely no water, power or safety.  What was even more irritating was neither of the tour managers bothered to check if we were keeping fine. AT LEAST ONE WAS TOTALLY ABSCONDING. People were mad with fury. HE even told me later that some one had bashed him( I am not surprised)

On my recommendation my cousin & two of her friends too joined from Mumbai.

They had booked their flight tickets from Mumbai to Katmandu. Sankara Yatra people had promised that they would be received at Katmandu airport & taken to the hotel. But no one came to pick them up & they had to wait for 3 hours at the airport. They were frantically trying to contact the tour manager Mr.Murali and the Bangalore office staff Yamini. Their first-day experience itself happened to be bitter & nightmarish.

They had told us that before the commencement of the yatra they would make a whatsap group of all yatrees to keep the family informed of the pilgrims safety & any crucial information. But it was never done till my husband forced them after repeated phone calls to Yamini. That too only around 20 names of yatrees were included among the 120 yatrees. In fact, most of the others never even knew that such a group existed or they were supposed to be included.

So obviously the families of those could not have known what was happening at the yatra. When things started becoming bad I first exposed it to through the common group. Obviously, the families got worried & angry.

We were able to do two days of Parikrama and happily waiting for the completion of third-day parikrama. In fact, we had paid money for the pony for three days. But to our utter disappointment, it was called off and we were asked to pack up and return to Darchen. No one including the two tour managers never gave us an explanation of why they did that. In fact, both of them went missing. We were left at the end point of third-day parikrama without even a shelter and it started raining. no tea or snack after a tiring day. Finally, we were shifted in batches to Darchen and given dinner at 12 midnight. Then we were asked to leave for Taklakot & reached there at 3 am. At eight we were asked to leave for Hilsa. We had not bathed for days and no time gave even for bathing & no hot water!

Then we got stuck at Simikot for two days and no information about the tour managers. They did not come to check if we were alive or not. On the third day, we went on our own to the SImikot airport to try our luck. Finally, we( the four ladies alone) by the grace of God managed to get boarding cards & left for Nepalgunj. The others also managed to reach Nepal by end of 5th but we missed our flight back to our cities on that day. Again we had to make our own arrangements to fly back.

But, despite all this, I thank God that I was able to go to Kailash & Manasarovar. It is only because of the blessings of my parents & all the elders. It is because of the bad karma I had to travel with such bad organizers.

Why I would never ever recommend Sankar Yatra:

they are highly priced

tour managers dont even know the itinerary

unprofessional &  poorly trained staff members

cheating in the name of God

no first aid or a doctor in the group( but they say doctors travel with every group)

Please please don't ever choose Sankar Yatra. Don't get cheated by their advertisements.

There are so many other good tour organizers

Good Luck

Most awful tour
Dec 22, 2017 04:22 PM4708 Views

Three sisters going on this yatra, totally fooled by the TV adverts and by the man who came to our Chennai house to get the money for the trip before we left for Bangalore. The hotels were dreadful, filthy, small, dirty linen and cockroaches too. Spent a huge time in the small Tempo. Spent very little time in the temples. The darshans were non - existent, the tour'guide' was hopeless. No communication and he, in cahoots with the driver, stopped when they felt like and often left us scrambling for darshans at the last minute. I would warn all future travellers'DON'T USE SHANKARA TOURS'. One of the worst trips in my life time. I used Make My Trip .com and found they were far superior.

Your Operator: Total incompetents

Tour Guide: A waste of space with no communication skills at all.

Travel convenience: NONE. Tempo old and awful, hotels disgusting, darshans none organised, meals awful.

They should shut this tour down. DONT GO.

Horrendous experiences
Apr 23, 2017 03:41 PM8252 Views (via Mobile)

One of the worst travel experiences. Absolutely a fraud company exploiting people's sentiments in the name of religion and using the term'Yatra'. We were serviced by their Bangalore branch and it was a terrible painful experience. A bunch of inexperienced folks deputed to handle. One Vedavalli Iyer who was nominated to assist had no clue and was non responsive and never reachable on email or phone. Even till a day before we never had our iternary or tickets. Big time goof up on our darshan tickets. We finally had to plan on our own and do a long queue darshan with our aged parents.

The places they took us for lunch was unexplainable but they looted on the price. Never get cheated by their adverts on Sankara TV and use them. Stay away

A bitter experience 95 DD trip in Feb 2017
Apr 21, 2017 11:47 AM8979 Views

I went on this divya desam trip from Jan 29th to Feb 10th 2017.  On 30th Jan I had very high fever and hence returned to my place by cab from sholingur.  After recovery, I again joined the trip on Feb 2nd from Aduthurai.  I had missed 37 divya desams in these 4 days.   This was the first misery I had.  They arrange the travel by a 10 year old tempo traveller which doesnt gain speed, the result was we reached thirukurungudi and thiruvananthapuram when the temple was about to be closed.  This vehicle broke down in Kumbakonam and another vehicle was arranged for us to reach Trichy. They should arrange a new vehicle having taken per day nealry  2600  rupees. .  The  climax happened on Feb 10th when we were in Guruvayur.  The group went to the temple by 4.15 am and returned to the hotel. as the checkout time given to us was 6.30 AM.   But the tour Guide Mr.Govindan got up by 7.30 only and one of the yathris asked whether we can finish the remaining divya desams as that was the last day and the temples in Kerala close by 11 AM, for which Mr.Govindan said we can finish.  I just made a suggestion that from the next trip, the checkout timings can be changed to 7.30 so that the yathris can be more comfortable. Mr.Govindan started shouting at me " So u have come here for sleeping? So u know everything? If I change the timings also people will return late from the temple and will u load the suitcases in the tempo traveller and said'  anyway I wont bear all this in my mind"  I said  "i will bear" for which he said "I dont care." He got up late and delayed the group by 1.5 hours(we left by 8 AM), so before anybody pouncing on him, he diverted the attention of others by shouting at this lonely woman. It was he who overslept, he asked me whether I came there for sleeping, see his audacity and arrogance!  I got up early and had finished the darshan by 6 AM.  I was humiliated in front of the other 10 yathris who never bothered to ask him'why do u shout at her? arent u to be blamed'?  Ladies travelling alone in this group dont expect any respect.

After returning, I mailed thrice to  one mrs.Vedavalli iyer of sankara yatra on Feb 11th, feb 17th and March 31st narrating what all happened and what action will be taken on Mr.Govindan.  Till today no reply from them nor do they return the money back for those 4 days.  Mr.govindan called me one day to ask whether I will join the trip again to see the missed places.  I told since he has insulted me, I wont come.

Sankara yatra is keen on taking money but  not respecting the feelings of a yatri in such a case not even replied back.

95SIDD tour - The Sankara Yatra was an awesome
Feb 27, 2016 05:00 PM15925 Views

“After living so long in the UK for the last 40 years, our thought of visiting India first time was really exciting, but going there without knowing anyone was very fearful at first, however the SankaraTV organisation just made it so much easier by picking us up from the airport and accommodating us to an excellent hotel prior to our entire 13 day-95SIDD tour.

Being new to the country, we really felt that it was very welcoming and every one was seemed to be very genuine. The Sankara Yatra was an awesome experience because they were totally flexible, knowledgeable and unbelievably friendly. The entire journey was extremely well organized with a driver and a guide who told us the history of each temple we went to visit.

It was most enjoyable that we were among the other nine like-minded devotees who made us feel like old friends whom we had come to India to visit. All the services were excellent with good meals, accommodations and specially blessed with each Divya Dharisanam of those 95 temples throughout the entire journey. Had such a great time, we want to thank the Sankara Yatra team for their wonderful and helpful services they have provided to us throughout our stay in India. We will definitely recommend to all the spiritually like-minded Hindu devotees who are living all over the world to go with Sankara yatra which is not only giving you the opportunity to see all the ancient magnificent Hindu temples offered with God blessings but also to travel the entire Tamil Nadu and Kerala within 13 days with an extremely affordable price. “

Sankara Yatra - Worst experience
Nov 24, 2014 12:00 PM36401 Views

I would like to share my miserable experience with Sankara yatra a unit of Sri Sankara channel.

We saw the advertisements of in Sri Sankara Yatra about pilgrimage trip to north India and Nepal.

My aged mother got impressed with the advertisements and told me to call to their bangalore office.080-430009**. There is a so called tour organiser Mrs. Kanchana whose talk and attitude was so over confident explained everything in a very stylish manner.

The tour cost was 30500 Rs per person

Including in Cost:

  1. Arrival and Departure arrangement.

  2. Hotel in Kathmandu on twin sharing for 02 Nights.

  3. Hotel in Pokhara on twin sharing for 02 nights.

  4. Hotel in Jomsom for 01 night.

  5. Vegetarian food.

  6. Flight Pokhara – Jomsom – Pokhara – Kathmandu.

  7. English and Hindi speaking Nepali Guide.

  8. All ground transportation on private car/Van/Hi ace/ Bus

  9. Local and shared jeep from Jomsom – Muktinath - Jomsom.

  10. Entrance fees of Muktinath, Manakamana cable car and in sightseeing

Not Including in Cost:

  1. Extra activities, personal expenses.

  2. Tipping.

  3. Emergency evacuation and Medical expenses.

  4. Bike Charges.

  5. Travel Insurance.

Even Though they were other tour operators in chennai who are running tour to the same places cheaper than sankara yatra, we prefered and paid the amount as no one was conducting tour to nepal in November.

The lady in charge Kanchana told that they very well experienced in conducting tour to north india and nepal.

whenever we questioned regarding the weather and other conditions she use to cover with that it is our job, and she will take care of everything.

But at last two days before the tour, we received a call and informed that our tour is cancelled, because in oct 2014 there was a big storm in nepal especially in Mukthinath.

This lady being a very much experienced, and people like sankara tv, who are well known for their channel, has started this yatra business just to spoil their names because of the sudden cancellation our flight tickets, that we bought, we lost the money.

There was no proper answer from sankara yatra team.IT SEEMS THAT THESE PEOPLE JUST BOOK TOUR TAKE MONEY AND SELL PEOPLE TO NEPAL LOCAL TRAVEL AGENTS, THEY DON'T DIRECTLY OPERATE THE TOUR DIRECTLY.We came to know later from public. The lady in charge use to run Muktinath corporation before and she could not run a single tour to nepal properly.

Sri sankara channel has proved that they need only money from people, but not wish to provide proper service.

SANKARA YATRA - WASTE OF MONEY, AND FULL OF MISS MANAGEMENT

DONT GET TRAP YOURSELF INTO SANKARA YATRA- MONEY MINDED PEOPLE

My heartiest thanks to all sankara Yatra team

The entire tour was enjoyable, the picturesque mountains, the beautiful valleys and the stunning Manasarovar lake was a great sight.

The Planning of the tour was impeccable. The tour manager had good knowledge of the conditions and ensured no stone unturned in terms of safety measures, quality of food, documentation and senior citizen friendly.

Sankara yatra ensured they arranged a priest at the lake Manasarovar to offer special prayers to the Lord. Despite several challenges, including inclement weather and sudden rain, sankara yatra managed to take care of its customers very well, with utmost care & concern.

The sherpas intact are highly underrated heroes of this arduous yatras. Their knowledge of local conditions is really brilliant and their capabilities to undertake any kind of job is very good.

I would definitely endorse the services of sankara yatra to the most.

After lots of deliberations, health checkups and analysis of Pros & Cons of Yatra, we decided to pursue the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra organised by Sankara Yatra.

A separate briefing session on the items to be carried, luggage, warm clothing, medicines, yoga was briefed to us, which made our preparations better and helped us well equipped for the arduous Yatra

During the tour, we had very good porters, the cook was very accommodative and provide us beverages on our request, although it was troublesome to bother them everytime. The food even at the conditions was good.

Arrangements were made at Mansarovar for taking bath and allow us to spend enough time. A local priest helped us offer prayer with a small homa. Except for the unpredictable weather and unexpected rainfall, every other thing went on very well.

Special thanks to the Sherpas who were always with us safeguarding us against uncertain conditions, jumping to our help when we needed the most. The back end team also ensured everything went well with the booking, co-ordination, Visa formalities, Air ticket booking, etc.

I think everyone should visit Kailash atleast once in their lifetime with Sankara Yatra. I also suggest taking up with Mukthinath itinerary along with Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

Would strongly recommend their services for the best experience!!!
