Latest update on 25.08.08

After my posting of this review on mouthshut and copy to samsung service deptt. their engineer visited again opened the tub and told that when you lodget the complaint your machine was in warranty but you have to pay Rs. 90 for the replacement of part and Rs. 270 as service charge.  I told this to his manager and he said that he will give the return call but today is 28.08.08 that gentleman didnt gave the call.  Now my hands are up and I have given them ultimatum for this week if it is not rectified at their cost then I am going to consumer forum.

Ravi Syal

I bought samsung washing machine and fridge on my marrige from local dealer M/s Mohan Electronics, Hoshiarpur (Punjab).  After one and half a year the machine top panel color faded and the tub starts creating noise.  After some time I reported the complaint to the M/s Mohan Electronics, Hoshiarpur his engineer visited for first checking he opened the tub and said one part need to be replaced after that he didnt turned up.

I visited the showroom frequently for approx 8-10 times and told him that this product is under warranty and why r u not rectifing the fault. I told that you will be responsible once the warranty is over and I am not going to pay a single rupee if warranty expires and the product is not rectified.  Then his eyes opened he himself registered my complaint to samsung service centre so that he will get the warranty on part.  Samsung service engineer came again opened the tub and said part needs to be replaced but the machine is out of warranty whereas their service centre themself confirm me the date of purchase which was very much under warranty and warranty will be going to expire by August 08. They didnt turned up after that. I went to M/s Mohan Electronics he is just execusing that I will send the engineer tomorrow but his tomorrow doesnt come and I am awaiting his tomorrow for last three months.  Twice the engineer opened the tub and not it is creating a noise like beating drum by hand.

Can anyone tell me what for the Samsung Company has established their Service Centres if they dont want to serve the customers. The engineer from samsung was so rude while talking.

I dont recommend this product to anyone due to aftersale service is very poor.

Bad experience
Apr 12, 2008 12:07 PM 16543 Views

We purchased this product in Nov-05 and in just over 2 years, the drum was damaged and according to Samsung service people, needs replacement at the cost of nearly Rs.11, 000!! . The warranty is only for 2 years and we were unlucky that this happened just after the warranty expired.

We decided not to change the drum but go in for a new machine instead. So we approached Samsung to give us a good discount for a new washing machine, which we were happy to purchase from Samsung, but they refused to give any discount. All in all, a poor overall experience. The machine, when it was working, gave very good quality washes and was trouble free.

We live in Mumbai and shifted house once; all along service responsiveness was also good. But the end result has left a bad taste in the mouth and we will not recommend Samsung products  at all.

Samsung WA80T4G Fully Automatic!
Apr 02, 2008 04:06 PM 16680 Views

After much homework of choicing between an automatic or semi-automatic. finally I went on to purchase that Samsung Fully automatic. The advantages I got from this are as follows:

  1. Most people think that it takes more time to wash using fully auto but the truth is you can set it manually to take care of your needs like soaking, washing, rinsing and drying. you can also set the water level and use it just like your semi auto machine.

  2. Another benefit of using fully auto is that you can set the timer of the machine to wash you clothes at the desired time and you can also resume from where you left in case of a power failure.

  3. If you are going in for high priced semi auto(Rs.7500 to Rs.9500) range. you can better opt for fully auto of a lower priced(Rs.9500 to Rs.11000) it will surely worth your budget.

and for me, im very much satisfied with my machine which only calls me when it finishes off everthing with a musical note without disturbing me watching "The Amazing Race".

I have a Samsung washing machine and I had requested for repairs as it had a problem.

Therefore I called Just Dial Services and I got this contact of a company called Klass One Services who are supposed to be authorized service providers for Samsung and have about 4 branches in Bangalore which has the following mobile numbers : 0091 9986168722 and 0091 9886666021.

I paid Rs 3, 000 ( which included a service charge of Rs 250/-). The washing machine was taken to their premises and given back in 2 days.

No quotation was provided for what repairs was to be done. They just did whatever was claimed done without taking prior permission from me.

The money was collected and the repairs have not been completed. The machine is not working and I've been chasing these guys for about a week. Now, I'm giving up and shifting brands. I wanted to provide feedback about the quality of service.

Please make a note of the above entioned numbers. The address of the "Head" office is

#33, Ramachandrapura Main Road, Vidyaranyapura Post, Bangalore - 560 013.

The bill which they gave had a landline number which does not exist.

Beware !!! when U get you Samsung products serviced !!!

I am planning to taje this to the Consumer Forum to claim compensation for this poor quality of service.

Automatic VS. Semi Automatic washing machine
Sep 20, 2007 01:00 PM 14768 Views

When you use semi automatic washing machine you can't adjust the load with the water needed so either you give more water than the load which result in improper cleaning or you give less water for the load where the extra pressure is created on motor of washing machine and as a result the motor get burned down or dysfunction in the long run.

Dear readers I have used both semi automatic and automatic washing machines in automatic washing machines, the machine determines the load and thereby selects the water level so there is little chance of motor failure. And moreover the automatic washing machine is compact in size those of you who have space constraints can easily fit it in a corner.I am currently using Samsung WA80P1B 6Kg. washing machine which is running flawlessly and I had previously a semi-automatic washing machine manufactured be Godrej-Ge.So my tips is go for an automatic washing machine.

My Washing machine
Aug 18, 2007 12:46 PM 15446 Views

I want all of you to think before you buy a washing machine.I have got a samsung washing machine. Its fully automatic. When I went to a mall to buy this item I was confused.Lots of models , companies, features etc.....Whenever I want to buy something I do window shopping first.

I will not buy anything on the first day itself. A gentleman from that counter tried to confuse me.He wanted me to buy a FRONT LOADER , steel bucket one etc...I was almost convinced by him.My maid , she is never good at washing clothes. My husband started yelling at me whenever he sees his shirts not washed properly. So a day came where in I needed washing machine desperately.

I decided to buy a samsung  fully automatic 6.5kgs(4 people )washing machine. Its really good at it looks, fully automatic, easy to use..etc...No doubt at its washing capacity. You will have neatly washed clothes. My aunt has got a FRONT LOADER and you know what !!!she is not comfortable at all.It is so expensive and you will not get satisfied at the end of the day.You cant open the tub once you load it with clothes , detergent and water.

U just cant open.Service !!!i dont know much about it coz I never had any problem.Touchwood.So, i am happy with my fully automatic washing , What about you?For more info feel free to contact :

Go for it...
Feb 22, 2007 07:05 PM 15480 Views

My mother feels proud when she recommends this machine to other housewives. Two years before when we went to buy a machine, we had a kind of hesitation while choosing this product. We heard lot of stories of w/ms(Washing Machines) about their failure, malfunctioning, underutilization, costly in terms of electricity etc. But thanks to samsung for such a splendid machine. I choose the right candidate to get my work done simply without any problems. Believe me, I'm operating this machine since last two years without a single problem.

I neither called any service person for any kind of repair nor I wandered in the market for its  spares. Absolutely no hassles at all to own it. Let me first of all narrow down your search for washing machine.

Finding a suitable w/m is not a difficult task. First of all, count the number of family members in your house, who are supposed to use it. This determines the capacity in terms of KGs. If you are 4-6 members in a family this model with 6 KG of capacity would be suffice. The next point to consider is what type of machine you want i.e.fully automatic, semi automatic or manual. I firmly recommend to go for fully automatic washing machine or otherwise don’t buy any one. But this factor is also driven by the continuity of water supply in your house. But this should not be problem cause a steady supply for 1-2 hrs is sufficient. I have continous water supply at some specific hours in the day, so I use that time for my machine. Semi automatic or manual is a nonsense concept, instead traditional methods are better or go for a maid. But note that, for a automatic w/m, you need to have a dedicated water tap to avoid inconvenience.

Let me first of all introduce you about its features. As its capacity is 6 Kgs, so you can wash 2 jeans, 2 shirts, 2 saaries, 2 towels, 4 inner wears etc at one time. Or any mid sized 10-12 items of cloths at one time. I think this is enough for a family of 4-6 persons.

You can also use it to wash blankets or bed sheets and a special function is provided for the same on the control panel itself. The Samsung w/m is designed to put you in control of the washing process, and the machine action. Machines is packed with an array of incredible features that come together to make the I control system. These include the ‘ECO Wash - that saves water and detergent’, ‘Child Lock - To limit small children with tampering settings and getting hurt’, ‘Auto Restart - that saves you the bother of restarting the washing machine each time the power fails’, ‘Memory backup- enables the washing machine to remember programmed wash cycles and settings’, ‘Delay Start- To enable you to time the washing machine with your water supply and other chores’ and ‘Fuzzy Logic - that makes the washing machine intelligent to adjust automatically to wash loads, water and detergent levels’ etc. These 6 amazing technologies come together to put you in total control and command of the washing machine and the wash process.

What you need more………. It comes with blue foldable window which is very convenient to operate. Also you can use hot water for specialized washing pupose, a hot water inlet provision is designed for this. There are 5 water levels - Extra Low, Low, Medium, High, & Maximum. I always selects Medium water level or choose a an Eco function for optimum water usage. One more thing, there are 6 washing programs - Super Clean, Fuzzy, Speedy, Wool, Blanket(Heavy) & Eco+.

These can be used as per the need. Generally I put in my cloths in the tub, pour some detergent, ensures water supply/electric supply is on and press Eco+Start button to start washing. The time required to complete the washing process is indicated on the digital display. You can select soaking option or avoid it for speedy washing. Then the process starts one by one like soaking, washing, spinning, rinsing and again wash, spin, rinse. When it is done, a nice tune of melody played to remind me.

Its so easy and convenient to use without any problems and hassles. Finally the most important point, the quality of washing. I believe this w/m has the best capability in its category in the market as far as quality of washing is concerned. Of course, in any washing w/m you have to rinse some part of a cloths manually like shirt collars and arms. But this machine gives its best compared to others I’ve seen. So while selecting a washing machine always remember the points like, fully automatic w/m, selecting suitable capacity, ease of use, non stop operation without fail, quality of washing, amount water/detergent/electricity it uses etc.

I’m proud to say that this machine has proved to the best to live up to my expected as far as above points are concerned…….so I’ll suggest to go for it without any hesitation……….Happy Washing…….?

Whirlpool - Extended Warranty
Feb 18, 2007 11:04 AM 12829 Views

I have had Samsung Washing Machine for quite some time and have been happy with it.

I recently purchased a Whirlpool Washing Machine and everything worked well for 2 years and to my surprise the third year, the machine stopped working all of a sudden. I have never loaded the machine with more than 5 or 6 clothes since its only my wife and I and we use it minimally.

Unfortunately the warranty period at elapsed but fortunately(Atleast, I thought it was fortunate but read the rest of this letter to understand my agony in detail) I had signed a contract with Sri Sai Services located @ Old No.33, New No 76/1 Ormes Road, Kilpauk, Chennai - 600010 for extended warranty.

I called Whirlpool Customer Service and explained to them the problem and they confirmed my contract with Sri Sai Agency and forwarded my complaint. I waited for 1 week and did not get a response. I called whirlpool again and they said that I need to call Sri Sai Services since they had already forwarded my complaint.

I called Sri Sai Services and the person who answered the phone looked at the paper work and said that they received the complaint and since they were running short of technicians they were not able to send anyone. But the person who spoke to me promised that he will be sending a technician within 2 days.

I waited for another week. No Response. I called Sri Sai Services again and the person who attended the phone told me that there was some mistake in the paper work and told me that he will send a technician the same day.

I waited for another week and did not hear back from them. I called Sri Sai Services again and this time the person told me that the reason they had not come is because of shortage of spare parts and told me that I need to wait for another 2 weeks before the "Whirlpool" head office will send them the spare part.

I called Sri Sai Services after two weeks and they told me that I need to wait another 4 weeks for the part. I waited for 4 weeks. Now, when I called them they said that it is going to be difficult to get the part and I need to pay around Rs.2400 to upgrade the part.

I asked them why they accepted the contract if they had known that it was going to be difficult to get the part. They did not answer that question. I am still waiting for the spare part to arrive.

I just have one advice for people who buy extended warranty from Sri Sai Services or Whirpool

  1. If your machine cost is only Rs.10000, DO NOT BUY THE CONTRACT.

  2. Buy the contract if you can call them 24/7, Seven Days a Week, 12 months a year till they fix it.

  3. Buy the contract if you are not bothered losing your peace of mind.

VERY VERY UNHAPPY WHIRLPOOL AND SRI SAI SERVICES CUSTOMER.

SAMSUNG WA80H2B FULLY AUTOMATIC 6KG

The lousiest possible machine with even worst after sales service. The body of the machine actually burst open like a ripe melon.....would yOu belive it !!!! after JUST 2years of use. I was even more amazed when I recieved a letter from these folks telling me that it would take 12k's to fix the machine, ohh! btw did I tell you the machine cost me 10k(Aprx) when I had bought it!!!. The friggin gall of the customer service folks.....I have lodged a case in consumer court & sold off every peice of damn machinery with samsung written on top (TV, Music System just to name a few). Maybe somebody shud ask these dudes the definition of Customer Service & Quality checks.

I just hope more & more folks read this review & not get caught by the fancy ads & sweet talks that these pricks at Samsung keep poring on people.

Bad performance & service support
Feb 27, 2006 09:42 PM 12612 Views

We bought this model in 2001,since from the purchase I am facing lot of problems with this product.Nearly 4 to 5 times the samsung service team in chennai took for repair. But the tragedy is last time they had took my machine for service is before 4 months in the period of free service campaign, till now I have not received the machine. In the mean time only the service engineer MR.Shankar communicated me about the status. That is also before 2 months. Now in the past 2 months nobody from the company contacted me.When I contacted them the reply was irrelevant and meaningless, because when I contact first time before 3 months they told that they have to replace the cabinet and the spare has to come. After in my second call I was told that some tub soft has replaced by the service in charge Mr.Chandra sekar.Every time when I call to Mr.Chandrasekar his reply was in 10 days we will make the machine ready.God only knows how many 10 days they want.I don't know what is happing in samsung service. After spending a huge amount on the product the response given by the company is very bad.I lost my faith about this company due to this bad service provided by them. And also I don't know in which condition my machine was.I am afraid that they could have taken some spares from my machine.

I trusted my dealer this time after making a blunder in buying a bad DVD (Philips 625K) and bought a Samsung WT7200 a 6 Kg semi auto washing machine ...now I know what you are going to say ...( why did he post his Review here...because my machine's model was not displayed and I am too lazy.

So I bought this machine happy as can be....in the 6th months the motor starts making a noise and the spin tub lid just broke off....now ...now I know what you are thinking....I DONOT OVERLOAD IT AND I AM VERY CAREFULL ABOUT MY THINGS....my Sony JJ505 Music systems (some 24 yrs old ) still is in imaculate conditions.....like CSanders67217 has stated ...I WILL NEVER LAY AN EYE ON ANYTHING THAT HAS A SAMSUNG brand on it....I SWEAR>>>>>>>>>this is not because of the product alone but also because of the service ...it sucks too........THANKS but no THANKS....

Poor performance Karishma Washing machine
Jul 31, 2005 04:41 PM 23908 Views

I purchased a Karishma washing machine from the showroom at AGRA in end 2001. The machine has performed reasonably well except for the fact that the motor has packed up three times in four years. The body of the machine has become totally rusted. The motor was replaced by me the third time recently and after that I got in touch with Samsung . The manufacturers promised to look into the matter of why the motors ere getting burnt out so fast and why the so called rust proof body has rusted to the extent that the machine is having weak body strength. This is after all care being taken by me to use the machine carefully and with light load. I use a central voltage stabiliser for my house and voltage fluctuations are also avoided. What is rankling is the attitude of the maufacturer, who promise to send some one to examine the machine, but have inspite of several emails failed to attend the problem.Their representative came and changed the motor on payment, which I feel is incorrect and they have takne a legal view of the matter.I reported the technical defect to the manufacturer Samsung to see why the motors are packing up so regularly and also look into their quality control processes.Samsung it appears is looking at short time gains and not for building a base among the customers. I find most of the Indian manufacturers are sweet and prompt till the sale is over and the true facet of behaviour comes only after that. Once you buy the item you are at their mercy. They now look for another customer. After sales is a joke perpetrated on Indian customers. Samsung with a Korean tradition has become another Indian company with poor ethics and totally neglect the customer who has purchased the machine. I wpnder how many other surfers have had poor results from Karishma washing machine. Joint effort from some of us will result in Samsung changing its approach.

Scam by Samsung
Mar 21, 2005 07:38 PM 14100 Views

Guys, Samsung played a trick on Indian customers by marketing its leftover Front loading machines with no spares, after they had decided to take it off their market, that too at astronomical prices.

My spouse wanted the best and the costliest and got the M-800 from the dealer in 2001. The dealers have learnt the lesson. Nowadays no white goods dealer touches Samsung products. So Samsung has started its Digitall show rooms and badmouthing dealer-sales.

The biggest problem is the abnormal sound due to imbalance during spinning which we are told is not very abnormal or sometimes asked to switch to ?Rinse and Spin? to complete the cycle with the hope that the imbalance goes off. Half the time it does not.

Fortunately for us (but not in the long run), the machine started giving abnormal rubbing sound exactly one week before the two-year guarantee expiry. Samsung tried its level best to wriggle out by not answering phone calls but could not do it forever. They searched whole of India to get the spares and succeeded after 3 months - but no substitute machine was given to tide over in the interim.

We got the machine back after three and a half months with no letter of apology or repentance or guarantee. We asked for an AMC at this stage but Samsung said they had not decided on the AMC policy yet. This continued for about a year after which, they said there would be no AMC.

Right from the beginning after this major repair, there was abnormal rubbing sound, which was denied by the service engineer, his senior and each and everybody connected with Samsung. Finally after three more months, drive belt was changed but the sound continued. Old belt was reinstated.

Now again the Service Center decided to change the rotating assembly (bearing block) and took the machine for one month. Nothing much changed in Sound but by now we thought this must be Normal for Samsung machines.

But one day it totally broke down and we were given the choice of one third of purchase price (Rs7800/-) OR repairing at the cost of Rs. 10700/- with no guarantee. We decided to take the money. The funny thing we noticed was the Service center person who came for removing the machine, took every thing including the torn manual, original receipt, packing bolts, etc., probably for a resale to a seconds dealer.

In short Samsung had no spares, used old refurbished parts and ultimately made us sell it to the Service center. If this is a not a Scam, what is? Fortunately for you guys, M801 vanished from the Market after our first year of purchase, for that matter no front-loading machine from Samsung is in the market now. That is the good news guys.

Good Machine-I liked it
Mar 19, 2005 05:42 PM 14807 Views

After a lot of survey I decided to buy this machine. It is fully automatic, top loading with fuzzy system. This has made our life quite convenient, as we put on the machine in the morning, while going to the office and by the time, we comeback clothes are washed and dried.

No wastage of water and electricity also.

Sometime if clothes are too many, it creates problem in drying process, as spin tub is not able to spin properly, so you have to resettle the clothes.

For the last one year machine has not troubled us. The Engineer who came for installation was very nice and helpful. He explained the functioning with lots of patients.

I would surely recommend to go for this machine. As compared to LG, it is economical, trendy and more convenient to use. A few machines has options of steel drum, please don't go for that as they can get rusted after some years of use. fibre drum is surely a better option.

No spares.
Oct 10, 2004 09:34 PM 12874 Views

I purchased a Samsung SW75A1S model of fully automatic washing machine about 5 years back. Now its body at one side got rusted. I contacted the service centre requesting a change of cabinet as the machine was working fine but had got tilted due to rusting.

To my surprise they did not have a single cabinet throughout the country so 'regrets'. Explanation given was that they keep changing models and spares may not be available of the older ones. That means the buyer should spoil the equipment quickly and buy a new one.

Previously also I had a lot of trouble in getting their service people to attend. The rates are high and service best not said about ! The machine was good till things don't go wrong. The plastic lint catcher itself costs Rs. 450 and add the service charge to it ! You are down by Rs. 900. Samsung service itself is faulty and costly and the company's motto is to sell and forget, let the customer buy a new one ! The exchange price offered to me for my machine was Rs. 1000, I guess the local 'kabariwala' would have offered a better deal.

Samsung song not to be sung
Jan 08, 2004 02:41 PM 24177 Views

When Karisma first hit the market it was supposed to be lined up somewhere between fully automatic and semi-automatic washing machine with some value addition which made it attractive at least at first sight and also later on. In fact Samsung had just dumped the machine from Korea and it still had / has the Korean language engraved as I had picked this machine on the second day after launch.

I am using this semi-automatic since 2001 when it came without buzzer and when requested to fit a buzzer, the response was silent overwhelmingly. This sales service and customer care continues to do so till date.

Transparent lid is very practical, SO-SO design, overall highly utilitarian, good drain hose, which in fact is best in its class. Good fit and finish, washing is OK while spin-drying is not that satisfactory but will most of the time meet your requirement. Vibration is there at times, irrespective of cloths and its distribution. Till date no problem with any part of machine (except one) and the quality of parts used are appreciable to a large extent.

Now the worst – Recently my machine made a loud Thud! I saw my drum tilted in the machine housing, continuing to wash. I immediately stopped it. I found that one of the rod / dampener has come out of its support. The culprit of course was a plastic part which holds the rod / dampener and is suspended on a support frame. I went to authorized service center, which said that they do not sell this plastic part and I need to take the entire rod, to which I agreed (costing INR 260), but they said that this has to be on call basis which can be done only under their own service that adds to another INR 250. Now for a mere part of INR 5/- I cannot shell out my hard earned money this lavishly! I approached the regional and then the national service center through various modes, but without any result and no reply at all. After five days I just purchased Araldite worth INR 25/- & applied to the plastic part, kept it overnight and fitted it. Lo! it is going on till date without problem. It is here where Samsung looses its credibility – after sales service is a huge problem. Where the hell shall I purchase or get the drainpipe or water-connecting pipe, if they get damaged?

As for Samsung they might continue to say it has to be through their service center and their engineer shall come and fit the water pipe & drain pipe!! Its high time Samsung gets acclimatized to varying culture globally and its inviting trouble instead of customer.

Poor Service

I had bought a Samsung Washing machine (Top loading) which broke down with a huge noise last month.I had contacted the service center, who took it and returned it, but it made bad noise again.

Again it was taken, and it was supposed to be delivered a week back, but to no avail. We thought samsung is an international brand and it would adhere to the standards, but it was a mistake.

How can the machine go down immediately when the warranty expires? Has it been built that way? Usage of Computer intelligence is good, but this one is not the graceful way to do that.

Would anyone tell me as to which brand has a good service. It is evident that this one has a very very poor after sales service.

I would be thankful if I get a good recommendation.

Chennai India
Don't get cheated by Samsung

Words cannot express how lousy I feel when I see this product occupying space in my house. In my opinion SAMSUNG WASHING MACHINE = POOR QUALITY WITH POOR SUPPORT. I bought this product in August 2001 in Chennai and 5 days after the warranty expired, the washing machine drum(into which the clothes are loaded) started bouncing around with a loud noise. After a week of hopelessly trying to contact the service centre, I got to know that the service center which installed the machine had shut down(they must have got sick of attending to Samsung warranty breakdown calls). After a lot of trouble and enquiries I managed to find another service center. They wanted 200 rupees to attend the call irrespective of whether they attended to the problem or not. Having no other choice, I agreed. After taking a look at the drum, he said it would cost around 3000 rupees to replace the whole drum and the holder. This sounded ridiculous because the drum was intact but the portion connecting the drum to the shaft was completely corroded. Why replace both when the problem was only with one? Anyway the annoying part was yet to come. 5 days later I received a call stating that it was not Rs3000 but Rs4800. The next call raised the amount to Rs5200. The whole issue seemed fishy since this was the cost minus transportation of the machine and the service charges and it also varied from call to call. Having read on the net that Samsung had a email hotline(hotline@samsungindia.com), I sent them a mail asking them for the actual price of a spare drum. I got a standard response mail saying that my problem would be looked into soon. A week later, no response. I sent them a mail with photos of the defective drum ( you can see how easily it gets corroded and that too beyond recognition) and still no response. I am now looking for a buyer who can take the machine for its weight and clear it from my house. Would I buy another SAMSUNG product?? Never in my life. If anyone would like to see what the insides of their Samsung washing machine would look like after 2 years please contact me at ssmathew@tatanova.com, I will send you the snaps. Believe me, you would not want to buy a Samsung product after that.

Not all that charismatic !

The Karisma is meant to fit in between a semi-automatic and

a fully-automatic washing machine. I believe that the guys over at Samsung rightly figured out that the most cumbersome task while doing one's laundry in a semi-automatic was transferring the wet, heavy and soap water-laden clothes from one tub to the other.

So the ingenious Koreans devised a single tub semi-auto and lo you have the Karisma.

I bought the Karisma in Aug 2000 and am using it regularly ever since. I have had to call the technician twice already. Once there was an electrical failure in the washing machine due to which it was not functioning. The technician from Samsung came promptly and repaired it. But the next day we realised that he had bungled up a connection somewhere because we could get a mild shock from the body of the machine!!

I did not waste time ringing up the customer support people again. A couple of stern words and the guy was at our door step in a jiffy.

Though the warranty was still valid, the technician charged me Rs 100 per visit explaining that every visit to the customers place entailed a charge in itself, regardless of the warranty of the appliance ! I did not retort only because I was too relieved to get the machine back in working condition! Doing one's laundry manually is something I detest to the fullest

The machine is indeed a bargain at Rs 9,700. But if you can

cough up another 2 to 3 K, I would any day suggest you consider buying a fully automatic machine. Even the lower end ones, like BPL ABS 45 or Videocon are much more convenient than a semi-auto one because it saves you the trouble of having to stand by and tend to it each time it finishes a task.

The ''Fill it, Shut it Forget it'' convenience of a fully-automatic machine would make much more sense than this Karisma.
