S.I.E.S College of Management Studies, Navi Mumbai Reviews

Mismanagement, phony teachers and farcical minds.
Jan 08, 2018 05:16 AM1666 Views (via Mobile)

I completed my M.M.S from S.I.E.S college of management studies, Nerul. I am part of the 2014 - 16 batch.

I have studied at some of the finest colleges in Bombay until my graduation. For post graduation, coming to SIES is and always will be the biggest mistake of my life.

  1. Teachers

I have never seen more incompetent bunch of individuals together in my entire life. None of the teachers here - barring a select few - have real industry experience. They do not have enough knowledge both practical and theoretical to nurture you. Make no mistake neither do they care.

Faculty is less of nurturing and knowledge imparting sorts, and more of your daily soap characters that come on Hindi general entertainment channels. There are select few teachers who are actually qualified and decent individuals.

The teachers here talk about students amongst them selves rather than than talking to the said student and helping out. Teachers are utter phonies.

I have had an so called professor of human resource conduct an exercise on negotiation skills in front of the whole classroom. When a student over powered another student during the negotiation. The other student lost his composure and walked away. The professor at the end of exercise insulted the over powering student by questing his upbringing and family in front of 120 other students. Believe me that student only over powered the other by being very smart and intelligent in his act and communication. And the professor insulted him for that in front of 120 other individuals. That is the level maturity from a human resource professor. A professor abusing a student who did right by his team. Instead of explaining and correcting if he was wrong at all.

I felt sorry for both the students and us. The professor was incompetent. This is just one example, please don't come to SIES. You will be better off.

Administration:

The administration is weak and unforgivably bad. The placement cell is a joke. The person heading it can't even converse with industry leaders for placements. Their sole purpose is just to get 120 seats in and push 120 seats towards placement. There is no choice, every student has to sit for all profiles and companies. If you try and be smart they will boot you out of placements. If you get selected, you have to join the said company. So many of my friends are into sales because of this abuse of power. They wanted to join as product or marketing personals or become a analyst or media person. But they are into sales at FMCG and CD die to these idiots. I suggest you pick the phone and call the placement cell of SIES before joining there. You will get the whole picture. You will mistake the person on the other side to be a Vodafone sales person(with questionable vocabulary) but it will be in fact the placement head.

Placement:

This is the biggest farce of all. The quotes and numbers mentioned are completely false. These numbers are manipulated. Most of students have an package less than 4.5 lakh.

Conclusion:

I came to this college with a lot of promise and potential. To drive my point through this is me.

I was featured and covered in TOI - Mumbai edition newspaper several times. I have played in Mumbai Division Football association and was ear marked to play for Dempo FC. I have represented Mumbai in under 19s.

I played in a band and did a few gigs, and studied at Bandra. I have my own private library of around 374 books and have read 213 till date. I was tipped by my teachers and peers alike in Bandra to do something good in my career.

But SIES vacuumed any potential out of me. I was belittled and pushed of by "teachers" and peers alike. The students who come are idiots too. They are in their own cocoon. And you know what they say about idiots in a group? That is so true. Teachers mock you without knowing you. My friend got mocked by a professor in the canteen in front of 10 other students on his personality.

SIES is a black hole that sucks the life out of you. I am slowly gaining back my footing in this life. Please don't come to SIES if you even have an ounce of real potential. You will do much better for your self out there in the real world.

I have suffered enough. This is my two penny thought. Take it. Or just ignore it as an opinion. But if you do entertain it in your head then here is my request to you personally. Please don't waste your life coming to SIES college of management studies.

You will be better of somewhere else. I can blindly say this without an ounce of hesitation.

I just finished my 3 months in SIESCOMS & would like to share with you all that SIESCOMS is the best college to do MBA.

It guarantees 100% placement, has the best infrastructure, good classmates, best world class professors. Few professors teach in IIM too & are actually upto that standards. Lectures are so involving & participative that one doesn't understand where the day got over. It has lots of inter & intra college festivals & get exposure to participate & win in all big colleges events.

Really blessed to be in this college. It gives you the best platform to polish yourselves before entering into the corporate world.

Good college!

SIESCOMS- A living nightmare !!!
Nov 24, 2006 05:30 PM12575 Views

My parents always told me that there is no worse feeling than watching your dreams crash in front of your own eyes. This statement always made me wonder ( & pray !) what would that experience be like ! But my dreams ( or should I call it a nightmare !!) came true when I managed to secure a seat at SIES College of Management Studies.

After the initial days of the course (MMS) , you can look forward to only one more thing in life ...and that happens to be the end of the course !!!!!

Headed by a very renowned corporate leader, SIESCOMS is the most apt example of how the best ingredients do not necessarily result into a delicious dish.

An MBA course is always judged on the basis of A) Education B) Placements.C) InfrastructureD) Administration. D) Corporate Communication. Barring the third point , SIESCOMS fails miserably in the remaining departments.

Let's start with point A) Education

After going through the the entire course ( literally !!!!), I'm finding it easier to distinguish between worse & worst ! It's surprising (and at the same time amusing) to see people with hardly any worthwhile experience lecture you on leadership skills with such amazing confidence !

Unfortunately , Marketing at SIESCOMS begins and also ends with the 4P's !!

Finance is just about Ratio Analysis & EVA.

In IT , you realise you keep begging for the Itill the end of the course !

The less said, the better about HR !!

You start wondering there are 2 possibilities for the above mishaps :

a) There is a real dearth of Teaching Professionals in our country.

OR

b) The worst teachers have been selected with the expectation of improvement in the years to come!

Barring a few ( five to be very precise !) , the teaching quality is substandard.

B) Placements

It would be a mere understatement if I called the above process as aFARCE !

Excluding Kotak , HDFC & Edelweiss , you realise the number of companies you come across which you incidentally thought never existed earlier !

The above process( read farce) goes on & on & on.......& you keep waiting for a genuinely good company to come by !

Moreover, if you do not manage to squeeze into a company (I mean it !), you even have professors coming and telling you about your past sins having finally caught up with you.

C) Administration

The staff at SIESCOMS is the most unenergetic & unencouraging I have witnessed in my academic career. In fact , you start fondly remembering yor school & college days and realise the real meaning of the word QUALITY !

D) Infrastructure

In one word , EXCELLENT !

With the number of B-schools coming up in the next few years, it would have to be a near miracle to still find SIESCOMS figuring in the top 10 Institutes in Mumbai .

My advise to you would be AVOID even if you are desperate !!!!!
