Never ever go to this place
Jan 13, 2012 02:05 PM 2314 Views

Dear friend don't be embarrassed or something due to the case happened last night. It was the mistake from the owner side & the earlier reviews of the place.

Kindly consider the above comment seriously & never post fake reviews about any place due to which our evening was ruined. And I hope all your evenings will be good by NOT visiting this place. Only a line from me. Over priced pathetic food served by pathetic & disrespectful persons. Kindly avoid the place if you want your health, wealth & respect intact.

Never recommend this restaurant
Jan 13, 2012 11:14 AM 2105 Views

I want to provide some feedback for the restaurant "Rumali with a view" that I visited yesterday. First of all, the ambiance: it was pathetic. Then I was expecting that their food would be extra-ordinary that's why they are charging 333/- per head. But I saw the food, I was astonished. Nothing was good. In starters, they provide only Tomato Shorba, that actually tasted like rasam. Nothing else was there in starter. Then the main course was not at all worth even Rs 50/-.

They provided 4 varieties of curries but all were just awful.  And In sweets they had tiny pieces of Gulab jamun, with ice cream(only one plain flavor). It was at all a very bad experience. I felt ashamed in front of my guests. I could not sent them back after seeing the venue so we had to take the dinner. But I tell you the food was not even 100/- worth. and they charged 333/- per heads. It was the worst experience I have even had in any restaurant. It was embarrassing too.And when we complaint the owner about the food, they called us "defaulter" and misbehaved with us. I will never look forward to visit such restaurant.

Pathetic management
Jul 18, 2011 01:15 PM 2449 Views

Called up Roomali in morning at 1 PM, and got confirmed booking for 15 members at 8PM. Everything was cool. Then called up at 7 PM to confirm again. Their manager confirmed me. Now at 7:15 PM, he called me up saying that my booking is cancelled, as their staff is stuck in Kormangala.

On asking for details, he said he has none. On some shouting, he asked us to come. At 7:45, he again called, and told us that they are closing for today. So unprofessional, and highly ridiculous.

I would suggest all that if you want to book this restaurant, make a safe booking is some more restaurant just to be safe.

Pathetic management!

I went to RWAV on valentines day. They said candle light dinner--forget about that. The ambience was nice but the service. I had to ask for water twice before the waiter gave us paper napkins. The water, the menu card and even a person to take the order had to be called twice or thrice before they responded.

The maitre'd was trying to force us to try the buffet, although we wanted a la carte. He finally took the order and "threatened " us that it would take time. I wondered why--for one prawn dish. one mushroom and some roti.

Since it would take time, we ordered two mock tails. These came after a long wait---and losing my temper with the waiters--just as the food came to our table. So much for the pre-dinner apertif. The prawn was cooked with the shell. i doubt if it was de-veined--which means it was served with the "shit " intact. The menu read" button mushrooms " but these were huge fellows cut into four.

I could not believe that the rotis could be so sub-standard--they were definitely reheated stuff. However I was so grateful that the food had finally come that we just ate what we got. Then came the challenge of asking for extra roti. We got it after almost ten minutes and three waiters to talk to. We told him to get onions but that never came. We had to ask atleast twice or thrice and we got water.

No finger bowls or saunf / Toothpick was provided. The waiters are like unguided missiles and there was no manager in control.

Oh my God, I was in hurry to get out but the bill never came. I finally went to the counter and got my bill. He refused to give me a feed back proforma. Can't blame them if they do not have one. Most of the reviews are negative and I made the mistake of not reading them before going there.

So now when they ask me - " how was Valentines Day ?

I reply' " Got cheated "

A Restaurant Worth NOT VISITING!!!
Oct 18, 2010 05:35 PM 1906 Views

I had visited this restaurant with a snapdeal voucher, for my husband and I.

First was finding this restaurant! It turned out to be a hellish task, since they have one small indicator which can be viewed only by people staring through binoculars the whole time!

After we reached there, we liked the ambience of the place, and thought that the food would be equally good as well. The voucher entitled us to a fixed menu of Soup, A Starter, Chicken Biriyani, Chapati and a Dessert.

First came the soup, it tasted like dirty soap water! It was horrible, it tasted like loads of cornflour, and loads of pepper added! We kept quiet, and waited for the next course. The rice entered, and if you saw the quantity they served, you would have slapped them right on the face for insulting you. To make you guys picturize it, they actually gave us a katori size amount. The smallest katori possible! It was horrible, and our anger was going beyond our control.

The guys behind us also were complaining about the soup. Next came the naan and the chicken curry accompaniment. It was bearable, and that was how we filled our stomach.

Last came the dessert, we thought to ourselves, it would be a mouth watering gulabjamun, or a rasgulla.all our hopes were shattered, a scoop of plain sick vanilla ice cream, which tasted like crap!

It was horrible, this restaurant is best to be closed down. The voucher was mainly for people to come and see the place, and recommend it to someone else, I guess they achieved non recommendation from a lot of disgruntled customers!

Horrible restaurant! DO NOT GO THERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT! END UP SPENDING YOUR MONEY AND TIME!

Not a great place, please avoid...
Mar 30, 2010 07:14 AM 2031 Views

Heard about Roomali with a view from Friends, but when I did go for Dinner with friends, I believe it was one of my worst dinners ever. The dal, bati, choorma, they make is typically keeping in mind that people in Bangalore would not know how Rajasthani food is made or served.

The bati was as small as nuggets and as hard as a cork ball. They didn’t even bother to heat the dishes as well as the boora (Crushed Sugar) was also noit kept, which is typically used with Bati. The food was served cold and there are no welcome drinks.

I would request avoid, there are better places in Bangalore .

Roomali With A view - Not for food lovers
Dec 24, 2009 12:46 PM 1859 Views

I have heard about the roomali restaurant from my friend lots of time , so I decided to go for a lunch (buffet) with my team . As I have heard about this place, so I have some expectation but all got shattered  after having a food here.

In short and simple way :

Food Variety -  In buffet they serve 2 -vegetables.Considering a bffet cost 245, I would expecting more varities in food.

Starters : I never ever had such a pathetic starters..

Food Taste : Not so tasty.Non Veg was also not good.Gajar halwas was cooked in oil so u can think about taste.I have tried paneer channa, paneer was too hard to eat and digest.Looks like the paneer was 1 moth old.

Ambience : Not appealing place.Very dusty place.Food presentation was also very bad.It was giving me a appeal of lunger.

Service - Not great.

Value for Money - Zero

Over All : If you are a food lover, I will suggest you to not to choose this place.

Thanks

Never go to Roomali at Marthahalli
Dec 18, 2009 05:41 PM 1762 Views

We went to "Roomali with a view" on Friday Afternoon with whole bunch of guys. To start with, we were asked to wait at reception as according to them we didn't make prior bookings(though we actually did).

After sometime they acknowledged that there was some goof-up and allowed us inside. I failed to understand why they kept us waiting since it was half empty.

Anyways, after having the first serving we had to wait a lot for Roti's to arrive on our table.

Now making things worst was when we went for second serving, we found that there was no food left. After repeated complaint, the manager said that it will take another 15-20 minutes to get the food. Imagine at 1.15PM you are waiting with a plate & half eaten lunch to get the next serving and no one seem to really bother. They were busy in doing there own stuff.

Pathetic service and planning.

Great Ambience and food within the budget
Dec 15, 2009 06:34 PM 1962 Views

Restaurant: Roomali with a view

Location: Indiranagar

Landmark: Opp to New Horizon School

The ambience is very good. The paintings and the Rajasthani artwork whatever they have is very nice. You don get much of anything called view but still the restaurant is very good. They have the buffet but not many items were kept for buffet. The moment you enter into the restaurant and take your seat you will be offered jaljeera, its very good:). In the menu card you can find different dishes from Rajasthan, and some other places also. But most of them are non veg:(.

We ordered Vegetable Shorba, it was good. For starters we ordered Chatpat Aloo but it was not that great. It was like any other aloo sabji!

Then for main course we ordered Roomali Roti(for which the restaurant is famous for) and then we ordered some Paneer dish which was the spiciest amongst all the sabjis. It was good. The roomali rotis were just awesome, . very soft, very tasty.  We hadn seen through the price of the food, and we thought that it would be around 1K but to our surprise the bill was within our budget.

Very reasonable food u get over there and the customer service is also very good.

Its very good restaurant but the problem its not visible very clearly if udrive down very fast on the road. Its on 3rd floor. In the ground floor you can find the "more".

One must try this restaurant its good.

Avoid

Roomali With A View Indira Nagar. Had heard a lot about the place and name also sounded interesting..But things started looking gloomy as soon as we entered..

The interiors were good, but place was cramped.. we wondered if we all would fit in (we were 16 people)... but we did... things were downhill there on... they claim a 20 item buffet.. of which 7 are rotis, 6 different kinds of roomali and one tandoori... the 20 items include salad, chutney, curd, pickle and a (disappointing) kashmiri tea... which leaves very little for "actual meal".

Only one starter, that too only non-veg... very little variety in main course, fruits as one of the 3 deserts... boy.. nothing was going our way..Quality and taste of the food was in range of 'bad to average'. best thing was the ice-cream, which I guess was because they probably didn't make it himself ..at Rs. 275.00 for weekend lunch buffet... it waste of money and time... try cooking something at home.. even if its your first time cooking.. chances are you'll end up eating better than Roomali with a view.

Avoid Roomali with a View..
Mar 25, 2009 02:29 PM 1899 Views

After discussing about the options we had for our mangers treat we went decided to try Roomali with a view on Outer Ring road.

As we entered noticed the decor they had was a little impressed because it is not the usual, We made ourselves comfortable while the Waiters decided were they could accommodate us (even thought we had a prior booking).

When it came to joining the buffet line we noticed there were only a few options and non vegetarians were seriously disappointing to find one non veg dish. The other Veg food was mediocre and there was nothing great about even one dish.I think this is the least I have ever had in a buffet and as the name suggest they serve only Roomali rotis.

The only thing that we felt was worth it was the desserts but when we tasted jamoons they made we felt like they had made jammons months back and stored it somewhere and they took out some for today!! The fruis they served were the cheapest kind the apples felt like they were ready to be made into wine!! Even the water they served was bad couldn't drink it. Lassi and other drinks were priced really high for what we got. Avoid Roomali for your own good. Try it only if someone keeps a gun to your forehead and forces you to eat there.

Very nice ambience and service, but average food
Aug 04, 2008 04:06 AM 2415 Views

This is about the Roomali with a view on the 100ft road, Indra nagar of Bangalore. Well I went there on a saturyday evening with family. We were six of us. Except one the rest had to be vegetarian that day. The ambience and service offered were very good. The partially open kitchen and the roomali making was fun to watch.

The buffet costed Rs. 275 per plate and it doesnt include the starters. We ordered a veg starter for six of us that costed Rs. 550. The starters were good, a bit blant though! The buffet menu was just reasonable, and tasted average. The non veg items in buffet tasted good as per my guest. But there is one exceptionally good item in the menu.

Food was so average that it is not worth the money. It is still ok for the helpless buddies who did not plan enough but seeking for a place to sit chat and eat! I would rate it 4 out of 10

Its good enough to be called a decent place
Mar 26, 2008 02:58 PM 2211 Views

I’ve eaten there all alone; a couple of times with my dinner dates, with my friends and family, and once even with my bosses. The place is just right for enjoying food and having the dinner table conversations.

It has a graceful ambience catering to specialties from up north - Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Awadh situated at 100ft Rd, Indira Nagar, Bangalore.

They have 6-7 variants of Roomali Roti alone along with the other entire Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food list.

The restaurant is on the third floor so I did get a view of the running 100ft road when I sat near the parapet. Believe me it is nice to look at that traffic when you know that, for some time, you are not a part of it.

So now I can safely say that the view from the restaurant is also good and hence the name – Roomali With A View. :-)

The tables, carved chairs, attractive antiques and showpieces add not only to the theme of the place but also to the satisfaction of the guests. The niches on the walls contain puppets and figurines of Rajasthani people with musical instruments that end up making most of the guest clicking photos around them.

An innovative offering that I noticed said “Ask for a shawl if you are feeling cold” was put on the pillars around the seating area. Although, I never asked nor did I see anyone else asking for that but it was a nice gesture to show that they are aware that sitting in open on third floor might become a little cold for the guest in the late evenings.

Another nice gesture I would like to mention is an on-the-house welcome drink and it is bottomless. Though, Hard Drinks are served with a price tag of around Rs.80-100 for 30ml. of a premium whisky but still please don’t get any ideas; No restaurant in Bangalore will dare to offer any bottomless alcoholic drink “On-The-House”. It is nice refreshing “Jaljeera” in a ceramic tumbler that looks like a “Kullarr”.

The menu was very nicely designed with lots of writings about Rajasthan’s and Kashmir’s food history. The dishes are clearly explained as to what they contain and what kinds of gravies are used to make them to ensure the guests can have a better choice. Besides all the Roomalies they have the other Indian breads also like naans, kulchas, rotis, etc.

I, being a vegetarian who eats a lot of Chicken also, could never stop my eyes at any of the veg starters / dishes. I satisfied my taste buds with good old Kalmi Kabab as starter followed by Murg-do-pyaza along with Methi Roomali roti.

I wouldn’t call my meal The Best but quite satisfactory though.

The staff is courteous and tries to treat you respectfully. The service is pretty fast. Table cloth, plates and glasses are clean.

Per person cost for food will be Rs.250-300.

Overall a good experience.

OK if you are very hungry and want a quick bite.
Jun 16, 2006 03:41 PM 2517 Views

The interior is nicely decorated, but there is no air-conditioning or ventilation. And since the "bhatti" is in the centre of the restaurant, it can make people very sweaty.

The food is pretty decent, though there is not much variety in the starters or the rice items. There are 2 non-veg dishes and about 5 veg ones.

The desserts are really good, so it is worth saving space for them.

The food is warm enough, and the good part is the roti's are served hot.

The waiters, though not rude, are just like pieces of furniture: they do not offer any assistance to the patrons. This can be very irritating, especially if one just wants water or something.

Overall, not really the best of places to go to, but definitely not something very bad in case you dont have other options.

One recommendation: sit as close to the parapet as possible. This way, there will be atleast some cross ventilation.

Horrible place!!
Jun 03, 2006 03:29 AM 2679 Views

Had been to this so called ''Roomali with a view''...the bad experience begins the moment one enters this place...right from waiters who rudely scan your appearance instead of offering you a table to a manager who is too bothered to even book a table..

There's more to follow once you are seated...the waiters are probably under strict instruction to force/harrass customers to go in for their buffet..they just refuse to take up order unless you start screaming..

The food takes an eternity to come in...its almost as if those waiters are saying ''I told you so..'' apart from the dessert, the rest of the items isnt even worth talking about.. and the price is attrocious to the kind of service and food they provide...

My advice, AVIOD THIS PLACE!!

Feel like fighting - goto roomali with a view
May 30, 2006 04:46 PM 2870 Views

We (Myself and my husband) are food lovers. Its one of our timepass to try out new restaurants and enjoy good food.

Once we'd been to roomali with a view, which is very close to my house. We were very hungry when we walked-in. First disappointment was nobody bothered to place us when we denied for the buffet and wanted to place our own order.

we are strict veges, so didnt like to go in the buffet since it had lot of non-veg items.

After a long wait, a waiter took our order. They gave us a very cheap look when my husband order 1/2 soup. The waiter denied saying they'll not allow to share the soup, so we ordered for 2 cups of soups with some starters.

The waiter after noting down went a few steps and told his peer in hindi that ''yese log aake hamara jaan nikaalthe hai''... since we could understand hindi... we could decode and understand. My husband had a major fight with that waiter. They didnt even bother to ask a sorry.

The owner came and pleaded so much, tried convincing us but the waiter didnt bother so much. Looks like its there general funda..

My husband strictly told the owner that we are not begging them to serve us food and there customer handling is too great.

We felt so bad after this incident, we came without eating anything there. Couldn't forget this till date.

This is a horrible place to spend your evening
May 28, 2006 08:13 AM 2311 Views

My experience with this place has been terrible. The staff is very uncourteous and rude. They do not even suggest the dishes and force you to choose their buffet option as it is more lucrative for them. However all of us did not choose it. They took nearly 30 minutes to take the order as we did not go for the Buffet option. Then when the few people who opted for the Buffet option started their dinner, they kept staring at the table to see if the others are sharing the food even if the others have given their separate orders. When one of the persons just took a bite, the staff came up and very rudely told us not to share.

They came up in a group and started screaming very loudly.

In the meantime we met up other couple who had reserved the place and were waiting for more than an hour with no luck.

We were so upset, that we paid the entire money and walked out without eating.

Outside this place they have put up a board saying they value every customer, I would suggest they remove this

My suggestion to others is a NO NO to this place. Our entire weekend was spoilt with this place

Place integrated
Feb 10, 2006 02:06 AM 3739 Views

This beautifully carved roof top restaurant, designed and executed by the firm Silhouette Design Consultants came into existence on march 18th 2004, has heard great reviews in all the media as a place of extravagant ambience catering to specialities from up north - Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Awadh. This restaurant has also entered the limca book of records for having made the longest roomali roll to a length of 14Ft and 6 in. The ambience is also a treat with the architectural elements from mughul architectural style that is shrunk into a space of the restaurant providing the user a very royal atmosphere. The archways integrated in the pillars, the along side niches, with the pergola, the waterbody and fall, the jalli work along the wall sides, the dome above the buffet area & the greenery adds as feature typical of mughul architecture revealing to the customer the type of food that it caters to. To get in touch with the architect, in regards to suggestions and comments, you could mail at silhouette1999@sify.com or rvpaul1@yahoo.com. Nice place

Roomali with a view is a medium sized Famliy restaurent in 100 feet Road , Indiranagar(Fabmall building).

I haunt this place atleast once a month as I stay closeby..

They serve buffet (Veg and Non veg).. and since I am a viggie ill comment only on that menu.(220 per head)

Varieties-> lots... they have quite a few number fo veg dishes and rice items.

Dum aloo kashmiri is really good and so is the palak roomali roti...

starters->> satisfactory

Anothet speciality is the Dal Bhatti Choorma which is very tasty and quite filling(too filling actually!!)..

Desserts-> max of three varieties including one ice cream and usually gajar or moong dal ka Halwa..(really tasty).

Though a bit costly ..u cant expect the price to be lesser.. its Indiranagar(a dman costly place)!!!

Ambience is good( its a terrace restaurant) and service is satisfactory(sometimes poor)..

Overall a nice place to go with family and good north indian food for vegiies.

I would also mention another place nearby called Bombay Post(i was surprised not to find it in the list..) really good place (cost approx 300 per head) with awesome chats..try it out

Not worth the money
Dec 04, 2005 08:30 PM 2808 Views

This place is quite expensive , but it is not as good as other expensive fine dining restaurants.

I opted for the buffet option as the la-carte option looked more expensive after going through the menu.

It cost Rs. 220 per person. The la-carte option woud have been more expensive for a full course meal.

The food overall is just OK/tolerable.

The soup (shorba) was bad, it had too much salt, I could not have more than 2 spoons .

The salads were good.

The fish curry also had too much salt.

The chana-pindi masala , pulav , murg rajasthani, roomali rotis were decent.

I didnt like the Daal Bhatti Choorma much .. but I dont know if that was a problem with the preparation , as I have not had it before.

The gajar-ka-halwa was very good.

The ambience is decent , the service is very good.

But for the price , it doesnt give value unlike many other Bangalore restaurants in the same price category like Samarkhand, Angeethi etc
