Jatin-Lalit simply the best
Nov 07, 2004 09:00 PM 2692 Views

Hi friends,

A fantastic album indeed(probably the best of the year).

Here is the review

I cannot say about the lyrics because I cannot understand hindi as my mother tongue is telugu so no review for https://lyrics.

1.Rok sako to rok lo(shaan,babul,shreya,lalit):

genere: ROCK

rating: 4/5

The song is fantstic nicely composed. A youth track.comparable to woh sikhander from jojeeta wohi sikhander.

2.NAZRON KA YAARAN(sunidhi,shaan)

genere: DISCO

rating: 2/5

The beat is good but I felt the singing haiorabba in a punjabi style has spoiled a bit.But jl has improved in disco songs.Except that punjabi rendering the rest was good.

3.YAARON SUN LO(Abhijeet)

genere: MELODY

rating: 5/5

This is a kind of song that gets us in to a feel that jl is the best.I felt this as the best song of the album and jl+abhijeet is a hit. Also I feel this is the best song in any filim

after chalte chalte.

4.HAAN KUJHE THAAM LE(babul & alka)

genere: MELODY

rating: 4/5

This is another song of jl kind.

5.JAANE KISE

genere: MELODY

rating: 5/5

This song I felt again as a true jl song very melodies after tum aaye ho(phir bhi)seems experimenting but the exmeriment succeded from my

point of view. Donot forget to check this song.

6.TERA GHAM

genere: SAD

rating: 4/5

This is a good song indeed. But has a feel of 90's

Guys I almost played abhijeets song ten times consequtiely,u can understand how beautiful it is.

So 5 songs are very good of the 6 songs.A ratio (5/6) of good songs u will find only in 70's movies.A very worthy album to buy so friends add it immediately to u

r library.

I feel Jatin-lalit as the music directors who composes the best melodies tracks.its very disappointing to see them less frequent these days. Remember chalte-chalte, despite having fantastic songs in the album they did not get recognition.

Rok sako to rok lo....

I was an ardent fan of Jatin Lalit's music until recently. With Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, DDLJ, Raju ban gaya gentleman,Khiladi, Kuch kuch hota hai, Khamoshi and Yes Boss, to name a few, to their credit, I used to think that you can rely on the duo for good music anytime but come the forgettable Govinda - Aishwarya flick ''Albela'' and then the Sunny-Bobby starrer ''Dillagi'' and ''Yeh silsila hai pyarka''which were disasters and where the duo not only got too much inspired by foreign hits like Anu but also did not refrain from copying the music of their own songs ( that was pathetic), my expectations took a dive into the sharks.

Never after that were they able to redeem themselves in my eyes ( not that they care) ,The only exceptions were Mohabbatein and K3G. So I was not expecting much from this one before I listened to it's songs and I am glad I wasn't.

(1)Sapno ka yeh Jahan : Oops they did it again! Notorious as this duo is in repackaging their own songs, this time they picked a song from none other than ''Albela''. Probably they thought that Albela being a disaster, no one heard this one so they could slip it into their list. The song has a strong resemblance with ''Kaho to tumhe choom loon'' which was sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik ( maybe they should have taken Kumar Sanu for this one too instead of his cheap vocal duplicate Babul Supriyo ). Going back to the song, the lyrics are good and the music is fast but is as stale as a week old cheese ball. But if you haven't heard the Albela one give this one a try you might find it better than most of the songs in this list. (3/5)

(2)Jaane Kise : From a background music point of view this one is totally bland but the chorus and Alka Yagnik and Shaan's refreshing voices make up a lot and make it worth a listen. I am not sure if it was intentional but the Guitar and the chorus tunes resemble a lot with those in Phir Milenge's ''Jeene ke Sahare'' by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. While the former was richly unique and melodious, this one fails to keep you engaged.(3/5)

(3)Nazron ka yaarana: Remember Shaan's first album with his sister Sagarika called ''Naujawan'' which had a hit song ''Pyar mein Aisa hota hai''? Take that song add some fast beats and a chorus ''Ho Rabba hai Rabba'' sung by a gamut of singers after every 3-4 lines and whoala! you got this one.Magic ain't it? the way people can repackage old songs and get away with it.On the whole, the song is fast paced and is good for dancing in parties but misses the mark as far as staying in the memories is concerned. (3/5)

(4)Rok sako to rok lo: Unoriginal but likeable is all that I can say about this one. If you have heard the song ''Mausam ke sargam ko sun'' from Khamoshi by Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Shradhha you will realise when you hear this one that this one is actually a faster version of the former with an added chorus singing ''Rok sako to rok lo'' giving it a ''Jo jeeta wohi sikandar'' feel. How desperate do you have to be to copy your own song?(3/5)

(5)Tera Gham: Fans of Illayaraja or his hindi alter-egoes Anand-Milind can easily say that this one is simply based on one of their umpteen melodious tunes which have a strangely soothing rural feel to it ( notice the flute music) . It's hard to pick one song from the south indian maestro's collection but just to make a comparison listen to the songs ''Chhoti si pyaari si'' and ''Rona chahoon'' from the Venkatesh-Karishma starrer ''Anari' by Anand-Mlind which were hindi versions of Illyaraja's songs from the Telugu movie ''Chanti''. This song stands out amongst others because it's music is different from the others in the list and Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik have done justice to the mellifluous music. (4/5)

(6)Yaaron sunlo:This song has two versions( a sad one) and Abhijeet makes a good effort in keeping you engaged and partially succeeds in doing so.The song has a ''Ladki badi anjanee hai''(KKHH) feel to it. Abhijeet starts the song in the ''Chalte Chalte'' way .Chorus being an essential part of most Jatin Lalit songs does it's part well in this one too singing ''Rok sako to rok lo'' after each stanza. The tune of this song is easily hummable so it might turn out to be a hit .The sad version is at par with the happier version(3.5/5)

It makes no sense why the duo did not use Udit Narayan in this album (he could have saved the day looking back to all the hits of the duo with him).I have no idea why the critics have been raving about the music of this album...desperate advertising? It's sad but true that this talented duo like Anand Milind ( who had composed the songs of QSQT) has taken the downhill ride.Honestly friends, close your eyes and try to recall your three favorite Jatin lalit songs and I guarantee you, they will turn out be from the 90's. How far downhill will they go before we get to hear another JJWS or KKHH? Yeh giraawat....rok sako to rok lo.

Possible Come-Back of Jatin-Lalit?
Oct 29, 2004 10:19 AM 2458 Views

Jatin-Lalit – the brothers are flying high these days. After the musical success of ‘Hum Tum’, they are now back with ‘Rok Sako To Rok Lo’. Can they be stopped this time? I guess yes because they have always been stopped in their career! It is one of their new releases which they have been talking a lot themselves. These guys are pretty low when it comes to marketing themselves but this time, they are talking more than needed. Maybe they know they have given their best.

The movie stars Sunny Deol in a special appearance and newcomers. A lot of comparison has been made to the soundtrack of ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’. However, an album like that can never be produced again. Comparisons are made but they are just gimmicks to sell the album. Fans of A.R Rahman and Shankar-Eshaan-Loy may not really appreciate this album because these songs are much like 90s songs and do not have the same sounds like the mentioned music directors use. The album is about melody, great singing, good lyrics and the youth.

Lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi. The album contains 6 songs and one sad version.

Better to start with the best song of the album which is ‘Nazron Ka Yaarana’. Shaan sounds like Abhijeet in this one. He seems very awake throughout the song and delivers a good performance. Sunidhi Chauhan does her usual best. The song is fast-paced with the words ‘O Rabba Hai O Rabba’ repeated a lot. Music is the normal Jatin-Lalit style but here they tried to use some different arrangements. The music is fresh with a lot of instruments, different sounds, beats and rock guitar rhythms. The song is a mix of ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hain’ and ‘Naam Hain Mera Fonseca’ from ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’.

Shaan comes up with ‘Jaane Kise’ along with Alka Yagnik. Jatin-Lalit gave her a song which is just suited for her. She sounds very fresh. Shaan is at par with Alka in singing and both of them show that they can sing beautiful duets. Music is very good with the appropriate interludes and good arrangements. The chorus is also nice and the simple guitar pieces do the trick. Since the song is simple and rich in melody, it makes it an enjoyable light song.

‘Rok Sako To Rok Lo’ – They did well to come up with a title song. There are a number of singers like Shaan, Shreya Ghosal, Babul Supriyo, Lalit and Ishaan in this one. But you can spot some resemblance to the song ‘Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar’ from ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’. But the song is far from the one in JJWS. It is good but too many voices spoil the song. It fails to catch the attention. Music is more noise and lyrics are somewhat good.

I felt I was in the 90s when I heard 'Tera Gham’. Suddenly, I kept picturizing this song on some 90s stars like Ajay Devgan and Juhi Chawla. This song is one the best romantic tracks of this year. Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik take it to a better level. Sonu Nigam's fans should not miss this one. The song starts like a South Indian song and arrangements are excellent. It’s good that J-L changed their usual style here. They came up with an above average score and lyrics are simply great ; Tera Gham Kaise Jiye... The song is quite short but pleasant.

‘Haan Mujhe Thaam Le’ is very much like an RD Burman type of song. The start is remarkable with the RD Burman sound of the 80s. The song is light, lively and joyful. Babul Supriyo and Alka Yagnik sing at ease. He is sounding too much like Kumar Sanu in this song. I guess they wanted a song in the same style as the title song of ‘Hum Tum’. Some of the interludes are original but not really that good. They were not that generous with their melody but overall an interesting song.

‘Yaaron Sun Lo’ starts well with their favourite Abhijeet. Once again there is too much of RD Burman hang-over here. The song also carries the words ‘Rok Soko To Rok Lo’ as well. The song in itself is a light song, very well sung and entertaining. Music is quite good as well. There is also a sad version of the same song sung by Abhijeet himself. The sad version is really sad!

Jatin-Lalit finally comes up with an album which can help them in their career. It’s true that some of the songs are the trademark J-L style but they also tried to incorporate too much of RD Burman music in this album. The mix of Jatin-Lalit and RD Burman is interesting. Melody is present only in the romantic tracks. After a long time, they came with an album where all the tracks are equally good. However, they did not try anything new but they have just improved a lot with their arrangements, song compositions and sounds. So they can be stopped! The album belongs to Alka Yagnik, with two potential hit songs given to her. Overall, it’s an album which contains songs which will be liked by everyone especially the young.
