M.M. Kreem is known for his 'hatke' renditions. While the movie was so-so, the songs of the movie are worth it. Worth buying!

M.M. Kreem has done some fantastic work in Sur and Jism. While we long to see more of him, he hasn’t done too many Hindi films.

Coming back to the movie, “Maine dil se kaha'' is smooth listening song from K.K. The lyrics are very easy and nice to pay attention to. K.K.´s haunting voice matches the intensity of the poetry.

Maine dil se kaha, dhoond laana khushi,

na-samajh laaya gham, toh yeh gham hie sahi |

Another song K.K., ''Tere iss jahan mein'' is a good song. More enjoyable is ''Khoobsurat''. It describes how deeply ‘influenced’ the officer is with the ‘dead’ model. Good to hear good lyrics in this age! While it is always nice to love the the person within than the personality, this song drools over the physical appearance. The following line will make this point clearer!

Khoobsurat hain woh itna, sahaa nahi jaata

Kaise hum khud ko rokh le, rahaa nahi jaata |

Chaand mein daag hai, yeh jaante hai hum lekin

Raat bhar dekhe bina usko raha nahi jaata ||

''Guzar Na Jaaye'' is another track with two versions. One is mostly dominated by K.K. (with input from Shreya Ghoshal but she has done complete justice and one would wait for her part to come). The second song is a solo by Shreya herself. This song is about wanting a special moment to continue without ever coming to an end.

''Rog Theme'' is a fabulous blending of western and eastern sounds with piano notes combining with classical Indian sounds.

The surprising number is “Sufani”, written and produced by Gaudi. It is almost like a Sufi Qawwalli. A very perky number and makes it a very unusual composition. Listen for the first time and you are bound to be pleasantly surprised with expressions like, What’s that? How interesting! That's different!! However Gaudi's vocals are kind of 'buried' by the beats of the drums, making the song hard to understand. But you'll enjoy anyway! Rog, will always be known for Irfan and the music.

A must for one sided lovers

M.M.kareem The best in slow and soulful music?.

Well as the title suggests this album is for all those one sided lovers who loves someone so much that even the god doesn?t have words to describe their love?

It?s a stupid question to ask that how can one love someone that much that he/she are ready to part with their lives for the others but laila majnu , heer ranjha, romeo Juliet all were real characters who proved by their acts that Love is IMMORTAL?.

Well now comes to the topic music score of ROG?.

There are only 2 songs in the album that are soulful and melodious but these two songs are more than enough to leave their mark on you for years to come?

Most important thing about the songs of this album is their lyrics which is so heart touching and melodious that you can not stop yourself for listening to it again and again.

Now the first and the best song

Khoobsurat hai who itna???..this song is sung by M m Kareem and udit narayan well the soul of this song is its lyrics and slow music composed by m.m.kareem adding to this is his soul via his voice that comes within the song. It has lyrics likes ?Jo mujhe mil nahi payengaa is jahan mein kabhi..ruh banker use millongaa aasmaan mein kahi..pyaar dharthi pe farishton se kiya nahi jaata?means someone whom I will not be able to get in this life will definatly be mine in heaven

Mene dil se kaha??well there is only word to describe this song ?heart touching? listen to this ?bechara kaha janta hai khalash hai ya koi bala hai ,zamane bhar kee khushi se ye gum mera bhala hai?raat bhar chen na aayen ? doesn?t it sound good to all those who are heart broken and one sided lovers?even if you are not just listen to this once and you will defiantly enjoy the music score?.

Rest of the songs are not in the same league as of these two but this always happens when you have two great songs in a album..

So go and listen to these songs and you will enjoy it?.

Who says melody is lost in Hindi Film Music?
Nov 23, 2004 11:40 PM4566 Views

Who says melody is lost in Hindi film music?Wait till you hear this album and more specifically the opening track. MM Kreem, Mahesh Bhatt and Kreem's favourite lyricists Neelesh Mishra and Sayeed Quadri join hands again to create another wonderful album.

1) Maine dil se kaha

In almost all his work till date M M Kreem has this habit of churning out one track which falls into the exceptional category and the other tracks fall in the good to average range. We have seen this in Criminal (Tu Mile), Zakhm (Hum Yahan Tum Wahan), Is raat ki subah Nahin(Chup Tum raho) etc... In this album also he has continued on the same tradition. The opening track of this album is an absolute delight to listen to. This is melody at it's best. A perfect combination of excellent melody, with brilliant orchestration, vocals and https://lyrics. Great use of guitar and piano and little bit of saxophone makes this a collector's delight. Excellent rendition by KK.

Trust Kreem to come out with such a wonderful tune with such a difficult mukhda and equally complex antaras'.

Rating: 5

2) Tere is jahan mein:

When you listen to this song you would be instantly reminded of ''Awarapan Banjarapan''. This song has brilliant vocals and soothing music. If the credit for the first song goes to Kreem, then this one has to go to KK. The song is instantly likeable only because of the passion in which KK sings it.

Rating: 3.5

3) Khoobsoorat:

This one has 2 versions in the album. The first one is by Udit Narayan and the second one by Kreem himself. Both are plain average. Although the song has a good tune, it is the orchestration which spoils it. It is almost like you have a brilliant Madan Mohan tune but the end product is average because the orchestration is Anand Milind types (or Sanjeev Kohli :) ). The lyrics by Neelesh Mishra are good.

Rating: 2

4) Guzar Na Zaye:

Again this one also has 2 versions. One sung by KK and the other one by Shreya Ghoshal. Sung in a mellowed but passionate voice accompanied by techno beats, this song takes some time to sink in.

Rating: 3

5) Sufani

This track is borrowed from the Italian composer Gaudi's album ''Bass, sweat & Tears''. Punjabi folk music and nu-beat combine to create an unusual fusion and quite a good one too.

Rating: 3

6) Rog theme

The album ends with a Rog instrumental theme number. A well composed and orchestrated piece. This one probably would be part of the background score of the movie.

Rating: 2.5

Overall the album is worth a buy only for the ''Maine Dil Se Kaha'' track. The rest of the songs are ok. The album should do well in the charts.

Overall Album Rating:3

M.M.Kreem back after ''Jism''
Nov 22, 2004 11:53 AM6347 Views

Master of Melodies Kreem is one of the very few south Indian composers who are equally successful in Hindi film music. He has a unique style of composing melodies. After most successful album of the year 2003 “Jism” with Mahesh bhatt, here comes their next collaborative effort for the film “Rog”. Well, this album also has melodies. Will it be another “Jism” in success and quality of music? Let us see. Album has totally 8 tracks with Lyrics written by Neelesh Mishra and Sayeed Quadri.

Maine Dil Se Kaha

KK

It is an instantly catchy melody that sounds like early 90’songs in melody, background rhythm and orchestration. Typical Kreem’s style of composition with heavy violin orchestrations flowing in the background and of course it is the hidden soul of the song.

The interludes are rich with guitar and piano blending and playing the main tune. KK excels in expressive singing with his mellifluous voice.

Tere Is Jahan Mein

KK

It is again a slow pathos melody with soulful rendition by KK. KK sounds completely different in this song with more husky and longing voice. There are no many instruments in the background. The melody and the voice carry the song. Violin orchestrations are put to minimal usage at right places. The major plus of the song is the non-distracting usage of instruments meant for melody like guitar and piano minimally at apt places. The mild rhythm in the background sounds similar to that of “Awarapan” song from “Jism” but otherwise it is a fresh melody.

Kubhsoorat

Udit Narayan

The song starts promisingly with strings followed by violins and flute but everything falls flat as soon as usual tabla beats dominates the background, which makes it sound like an outdated number. Also it sounds like “Kabhi shaam dale” song from Sur. Udit is a misfit for this song. He sounds good while starting in low range but after first two lines, he proceeds with a open voice and spoils the sound. Kreem should have given this song too to KK. Besides all the above cons, the song is high in melody and again orchestrations in the interludes are good.

Guzar Na Jaye

KK, Shreya Ghosal

It is a slow seductive melody. This song is entirely different from all the other songs of the album in all aspects. The banging techno beats in the interludes rocks. Second interlude is great with complex symphony style of orchestration. KK and Shreya have given their best by singing in a husky voice to an extent that we can hear even breathing sound vividly between the lines.

Sufani

Gaudi

This track written and produced by Gaudi is taken from the album “Bass, sweat and tears”. I cannot hear even a single word clearly in this song. It is full of techno beats and sounds with voice singing at a distance in the background. I think it is a remixed version. Only the movie has to answer the presence of this must skip number in this album. As it is not original composition of Kreem, it is not under consideration for the final rating of the album.

Rog Theme

It is an instrumental track composed, arranged and mixed by Jaideep, Kurt and Samrat. It is evident from the caption of the film that it is going to be a raw pathos packed romantic drama. To that context, the music of this track compliments the theme well. The main tune that flows over various instruments Sarangi, piano and violin is good enough to emote pathos. Sarangi elaborates the tune more with flourishing notes in the course of the song. The ending orchestration leaves a good impact.

Two more songs are Kreem’s version of “Kubhsoorat” song and Shreya’s solo version of “Guzar na jaye” song.

Undoubtedly, the album belongs to KK for his versatile singing ability. What Sur to Lucky ali and what Jism to Shreya Ghosal is what Rog to KK. The album is worth a buy.I would give the album a 3.5 stars
