Rock 'n' Roll Renegade - Indus Creed

I have been a an ardent listener of rock music since past 8-10 years now. Though I have been following the present rock scene in India for a few years now, the bands that started it all is the one I am writing the review about.

It was truly a great effort potraying the sounds of classic rock groups like Van Halen, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Toto, Yes, Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Jethro Tull. The group was formed in 1984 and was then known as "Rock Machine". The line-up featured Mahesh Tinaikar (lead guitar), Mark Selwyn (bass), Uday Benegal (vocals), Jayesh Gandhi (rhythm and lead guitar), Mark Menezes (drums) and Zubin Balaporia (keyboard).

Around 1989, the band launched Rock and Roll Renegade, India's first all-original rock album. The album was successful among Indian rock music aficionados and Rock Machine's touring made them very popular among college audiences. The band was known for its slick, well-produced concerts, unlike the highly unpredictable, inconsistent shows put up by amateur Indian bands.

In this album, Top of the rock is a song that I would highly recommend for anyone who has a taste in classical rock. The song potrays the slick song styles of Van Halen. The rhythm of the song is great alongwith good instrumentation.  Uday Benegal's vocals add the cherry to the already delicious cake. Other songs in the album are pretty decent too, but nothing compared to Top of the Rock.

This rock song lead to the emergence of rock audience in india and caused a major shift in the music industry in india. I give the band 4.5/5 points and this song 5/5.
