The RMNH is present at the center of the city. Daily share autos and taxis are available to this place. It is hardly 2.5km from the railway station and about 4.5 km from Airport. The Museum contains a wonderfully maintained specimens of birds, butterlies, reptiles and several mammals. It contains a world of information about the flora and fauna found in Odisha. It now homes the two huge skeletons of Baleen Whale and Sperm Whale. The entrance contains a beautifully preserved skeleton of an elephant which was shot by poachers. You can even see the bullet entry point in the skeleton. It is a must visit place if one aims to know about the natural history of Odisha. Many hotels and lodges are available within 200m at Acharya Vihar. It is well connected by roads to other parts of the city and is a completely safe for children, elders and girls. Finally, the visit is FREE of cost.

Beautiful museum containing old antique pieces. Located at jyotibihar and easily accessible from most of the places.

You can see 1000+ years old statues in good condition in the museum. Photography is allowed, so you can take your camera and took snaps.

The collection also contain a big music gallery, painting gallery, art gallery, coin gallery and many more. ODISHA is a well know state for it's ancient art and culture. There are more than 5 buildings in the museum, and you need around 4-5 hours to see all the building one by one.

There is garden in between where you can spend time and enjoy. Lots of foreigners used to come to the museum very frequently.Kalpana square is just 1 km away from the museum where by you can get hotels at affordable price.

I visited Regional Museum of Natural History at Bhubaneswar in the year 2001 on a family tour to Orissa. Museum is known for its various architectural features and sculptures pieces date back to 1000 BC. A historic tenth century metal figure of Buddha is a special attraction in the museum. There are rare pieces of earthen pots which are of historical importance.

The museum has rare collection of antique and artefacts have a lot of historical significance. The exhibits at Regional Museum of Natural History includes sculptures, coins, pottery, earthen pots, iron objects etc. and many of the objects displayed here dates back to 1000 B.C.

Most notable among the exhibits are the metal statute of Lord Buddha belonging to the 10th century and a superb image of God Surya. The skin scrubber, terracotta toys, seals, animal figures, stone weights and balls are other attractions of this museum. There are few ancient paintings, stone statues, ancient coins and handicrafts as well which reflects their traditional lifestyle saga.

The objects displayed in Regional Museum of Natural History museum are excavated and collected by the continuous efforts of archaeological department of this State. Whenever you visit this place, please visit the magnificent Regional Museum of Natural History for a lifetime experience.
