Regency Restaurant, Andheri, Mumbai Reviews

Amazing place!!

Have been here quite a number of times with friends and also for corporate meetings and lunches. The classy ambience and amazing decor makes it completely a fine dining place.

Coming to the food, most of the preparations are worth trying. Out of those paneer kurkure and veg lolly pop are my all time favorite.

They also have buffet system at very reasonable price. Most of the preparations that are there in the buffet are also really good. For main course, Chana pindi and malai kofta are just wow! Their assorted basket of Indian breads are also worth trying. For desserts you just cannot miss the gulab jamun and kesari Rays malai. Summing up the food is delicious, ambience is nice, staff and service is fast!

The Best Place for Family Dinners and Luncheons

I have all my celebrations and get togethers at Regency, Andheri West. I remember going to this place as a child with my family and enjoying a delicious meal to my heart's content. After that we had forgotten about the place for a long time. It was suddenly rediscovered by my parents and we began going back there again. My parents even know some old staff here and they too remember us! Cool isn't it?:D

This time around, we had a few guests who came down from the US and we decided to take them to Regency. Oh my, there were too many celebrations on that particular day. Two of my family members had their birthday on the same day! So you can imagine how excited we all must be! We ordered way too many items.

Everything that they prepare, they do so with perfection and sincerity! Every place I go, I try out their soups and I called for a Chicken Wonton Soup and it was lip smackingly delicious! We called for almost 4-5 veg as well as non-veg starters and they were way too delicious! There was not a single one that we did not like or enjoy.

My favorite dish here is the Chicken Biryani! It is just made to perfection, with the right amount of spices and flavours! I can eat plates and plates of it:p. To top it, I love having their Malai Kulfi and Rabdi. They were so sweet to us, they helped us in serving the cake that we cut, to everyone and also gave us a small discount.:)

Do visit it once and polish off your plate with their delicious dishes!

Regency Restaurant - A good place to dine in.

Recently I visited Regency Restaurant in Andheri (E). It is just off the Western Express Highway on the road you would take to go to Andheri (W). I had visited this place many times in past also because this is the only good restaurant close to my residence. I have always enjoyed my visits here.

The food available is the normal Punjabi, Moghlai and Chinese. Stay off the chinese except the soups. There is good variety of dishes available so you won’t get bored even if you visit a number of times.

There is a bar so those who wish to drink can drink. Sorry will not be able to give any feedback on the drinks as I don’t consume alcohol. Let me rephrase that – I don’t drink anything with alcohol, so let me tell you about their mocktails. Now I just love these mocktails and make it a point to have one whenever I am eating out. If you will permit one bit of Info not related to this review, please avoid the Virgin Mary at Grand Maratha. It was Tomato juice with salt and pepper. They had made it too salty and I could barely take a couple of sips. Coming back to Regency, the menu card lists only four mocktails but on asking for suggestion on which is the best mocktail they will suggest some more. I prefer the one’s which come with a vanilla base and after Grand Maratha as above I ask them if it is sweet or not.

Food that I prefer here is either chicken or lamb dishes. I did try their prawns once and they were wonderful (about 10 years back). Now a days their prawn rates have gone too high, and since I am not the guy who has to foot the bill I normally avoid high priced items here. (No I will not tell you who foots the bills. LOL)

Overall the prices are a bit on the higher side, but then even the management knows that people don’t have much choice around here. And going by the crowds that it attracts maybe I am the only person who thinks it is expensive.

Atmosphere and décor are good. I like their color scheme, as well as the murals(?) and sculptures that they have adorning their walls and floor.

What made me write this review is that in my last visit, (last week) I noticed something new. Now they have a Non Smoking area, which is really secluded and smoke cannot reach you there. If they were already having this feature and I had not noticed it, I would be really surprised. No I think they added this portion recently, by buying out one of the neighboring shops. Very thoughtful gesture.

Good Food, Good Wine (I Guess), Good Ambience, Good Service, Good Crowd – What else can one ask for?
