Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Kadapa Reviews

Canteen's at RIMS charging morethan 50% actual MRP
Feb 28, 2018 07:15 PM1820 Views

Hi Sir,

My email is regarding canteen services available at RIMS hospital, as your well aware, many poor/very poor people are came to RIMS hospital for treatment because they don’t have enough money to go for private hospital, even I’m the one among them, I have visited canteen several times for milk/water bottles/ juice/mug’s and meals, they are charging more than 50% on MRP, since we are very poor we don’t have much money that is reason we came to govt hospital, but canteen prices are becoming more high, if this continues patients/people will be scare to come for treatment and in Coffee/Tea/Milk water content is more. If patients intake this kinds drink, how they will recover soon.

I have noticed below items they are charging more,

Item Name Actual MRP     Canteen Price

1 ltr Water bottle 20     30

Zandu balm 32     40

ORS 35     45

Mug Not more than 20 or 30     40

Kindly please have a visit as patient/patient attender, you will get to know how they are charging.

Many people are talking on this but they don’t know where could report, kindly take action, save poor people life,

Even canteen people are very rude, if we ask why price is more, response from them is “if you want you can take, otherwise go to kadapa town and get”.

Regards,

One of patient attends

Myself : House surgeon in this college.

I have joined this college in 2012 and I have successfully completed my 4 years bds course and now i'm in internship.

Guyzzz I wana tell about my college to those who are in thought of which college to choose. My college is popularly known as RIMS and it's of about 7km from the city and constructed in a vast area of about 200km. It consists of medical and dental courses, paramedical courses too. I have choosed dental course overhere so I am going to share about DENTAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL here. Govt.dental college & hospital , rims, kadapa is one among the 3 government dental colleges in AP. As for me, our college is the best college among 3 available.

College was started in 2008 and it had a very good infrastructure and all the facilities which are needed, ( ofcourse some facilities are not good ) . Hostels are provided for students both boys and girls.i'm going to tell about college, hospital and hostel in a few wordzzz_ College _ It's started in 2008 and it had a very good infra structure. It's of 3 stairs and the college is associated with the hospital. 3rd stair is for lecture halls and the rest for the hospital. Academic sections from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

Teaching faculty are good and efficient .library is available . Practical labs are provided. We have got 3 pg seats 1 year back and few more seats are going to be added this year.

Hospital_ I'm proud to say that my hospital provides the best treatment for patients who come to us. Hospital works from 9.00am to 1.00pm and provides treatment for in and around 200 people per day. It's constits of 9 departments and respective treatments are provided in the respective departments.

Our hospital helds dental health camps too.

Hostel_ Hostels are provided for both girls and boys on back side of the college. hostels are pretty good and well maintened .But there is a problem with monkeys and dogs.Road way for the hostels is not good . We have security problems for girls. We have to buy drinking water because of water scarcity. Guyzzz I will list out -ve & + ve about my college now~ -Ve ~ 1. College is far from the city. 2. Facilities are provided but not maintained. 3. Teaching faculty are insufficient. 4. Equipment and techniques using are outdated. 5. standard books are not available in the library. 6. cultural activities are less. 7. Road way to hostels is not good. 8. Security problems for girls. 9. we have to buy drinking water. + Ve ~ 1. Environment provided in the college is good. 2. Faculty are good and efficient. 3. Academic section is good. 4. Hospital provides complete oral care to the patient. 5. Hostels are pretty good .

RIMS KADAPA

The prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Kadapa, popularly known as RIMS Kadapa is located in Putlampally Village, 7 Kms from Kadapa Town.

Established in the year 2006, RIMS Kadapa is established in a vast area of 210 Acres with plush landscaping and greenery providing an pleasant study atmosphere for the students.

This College was founded by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2006. The RIMS Medical College is the dream of our former Hon`ble Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy. It was inaugurated on 27th September, 2006 by the then UPA Chair Person Smt. Sonia Gandhi. This Medical Institute started from 1st August, 2006. The 1st batch of undergraduates admitted entered final MBBS. The institute was constructed within a time period of 14 months in 210 acres of land with beautiful landscapes all-round.

The main objective of establishment of this institute is to improve quality health care in this backward region and make medical education accessible to all the eligible students of the region. The Government of Andhra Pradesh had taken special interest in allocation of budget to this institute, close monitoring of quality of construction and completion of project within given time frame. In a few institutions such an infrastructure is available in the state.

The first MCI inspection took place in 2005 and followed by another four inspections. The MCI inspectors were much pleased after seeing huge infrastructure equipment provided to the institute. The institute has passed through all the MCI inspections successfully without any interruption. The first batch of undergraduates successfully completed their Internship in this institution and awarded degree through Vice-Chancellor of Dr.NTRUHS in 2012. Specialists` services are very essential at tertiary level care hospitals like RIMS. The administrators are facing difficulty in recruiting specialist especially Radiodiagonis, Radiotherapy, Psychiatry and General Medicine.

In the past, RIMS General Hospital was a secondary level care Hospital i.e., District Hospital. It was located in Kadapa town. Later it was converted into tertiary level care hospital, as RIMS. During formative stages of the present RIMS, the hospital was run in the same premises later on it was shifted to the present campus. The present hospital is 8 Kms away from the Town. Due to lack of transport in the initial stages efforts have been made to run APSRTC Buses. Economically deprived groups could not pay bus charges. Hence, the hospital turnover was poor. In order to get more clinical material for the students and to bring medical aid to maximum number of people and utilize the resources to optimum level, the Government has taken steps to provide free transport from old RIMS to New RIMS. This effort patient’s attendance has reached 1200. The bed occupancy has been improved from 40% to 60% and surgical rate also improved significantly. The Institute is providing specialty services like Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Urology and Psychiatry tropical diseases.

College day is an important occasion for a social institute like RIMS. Every Social Institute is having a specific role and goal to fulfill. It should serve the needs of the people and satisfy the aspirations of the people. There will be always a gap between the aspirations and existing performance of the institutions. To improve quality and quantum of services, the system has to take up new policies and strategies and correcting the existing lacunae. From the time of inception to till date several developmental activities were taken up and it is an ongoing process

Im a student of this college of 2K13 batch.I have recently completed my third year practical exams.Till now I have suggested many people not to prefer this college.Because firstly the staff are not efficient and proper guidance to students is not there.Next there is no sufficient and good equipment in all 9 departments to treat patients. There are no celebrating events to entertain the staff and students and there is only freshers day party and that is also an yearly event which makes us frustrating. There is no lift facility for the old patients cannot walk 2 floors upstairs. The road way to our boys hostel is very very worst and many of us met with minor accidents weekly. Many animals like dogs pigs monkeys enter into our hostel makes us irritating. So finally I wouldnt suggest this college and im very depressed to talk about it.

I will not recommend to join it

It is one of the 3 government dental colleges in state of A.P. It has very good infrastructure .large building with lots of space. But no proper staff for teaching or books in library to read. No academics efficiency seen .no proper hygiene or sterilization procedure followed. No drinking water or working lifts . No cultural programs or sports held only fresher party is celebrated .it has so many cons.though it's a government one I does not recommend it to any student
