Ghani Khamma! Welcome to Rajhdhani!

This place is just so perfect! When you are longing to have home food and do not know where to go, then the next time, the one place that should come to your mind is Rajdhani, The Thali Restaurant

Located in almost all major parts of the city, I went to this outlet recently while I was on a shopping spree. The last I had eaten was in the afternoon and it was already dinner time! You surely can imagine my hunger and the way my stomach must be growling!

Know what's the best part about eating at Rajdhani? You get a place almost immediately and also the food is served within minutes of seating. I went with a friend and we got a place within a minute! Amazing isn't it? I realized my hands are too dirty and the thought of going to the wash basin to wash my hands was killing me! But the next instant itself, voila! A server came and stood next to me, holding a beaker of hot water and a bowl.

Ummm! The water felt so refreshing and clean! All the servers came to serve and they became a blur! No one had to be called or asked for, they all came one by one and filled our humongous plates with piping hot, delicious food. I was dizzy with hunger and the aroma of the food served. The first morsel I ate transported me to heaven! The small samosa they served tasted amazing with the meethi chutney and I had 3 more:p.

I do not like to eat khichdi in other restaurants, but the khichdi served here is just too enticing to refuse! Khichdi peppered with a generous spoon of ghee I really cannot put this in words and tell you how it tasted and felt. the sabzis, puris and the kadhi too was outstanding!

The dessert of the day was angoori basundi but well it was really too sweet, so I had only a few spoons of it. While exiting, do not forget to slap the drum, which signifies that you enjoyed your meal here. In return, all the employees scream an *Aao Jo, * come again and yes, I will definitely be going there again soon!:)

London United Kingdom
Thali that satisfies your hunger for authenticity

I am settled in London from the past 12 years. Being away from home, the thing I miss the most is authentic Gujarati food. Whenever I come to India, I make sure to have as much gujju food as I can so as to completely satisfy myself before I fly back to the UK.

This time when I visited, my friends took me to Rajdhani Thali.Judging from the name, I could make out that it was a thali restaurant so I was pretty much excited. On arriving at the restaurant, I was very happy to see huge thalis on the tables and was eagerly waiting to taste the food. We were seated down and withing a few minutes, the food started to arrive in our thalis.

Thank god I visited India in this season, because I could enjoy the king of fruits - MANGO! The food items included certain Mango varieties. Aam Ras was simply the best of the all. I don't even remember how many bowls of Aam Ras I had. Also, the dal was very tasty, it was a particular type of Gujarati dal, forgot the name though. There was so much variety, I dont even remember what I had, but all of it was out of this world tasty. I am definitely going to visit this place 2-3 times more before I leave.

Thanks Rajdhani Thali for making my trip even more memorable :)

Now I feel like a KING!

I have noticed one thing in many restaurants now a days that it the food it good, the service is bad and vice verse. Rarely you find a restaurant where you get good food accompanied with good service. I found a gem in the dust. Rajdhani Thali was a delightful experience for me.

I'll start with the service. The service was super quick, the waiters were trained to communicate with each other efficiently and there was not even a hint of chaos, but the thing I liked the most is that the waiters wash your hands for you right where you are seated. Now this is Royal!

The food... where do I begin with, there was just so much variety and deliciousness. I cherished every morsel of the food I had. True tradition was reflected in the food at Rajdhani Thali.

I will give a full 5 star rating to Rajdhani for the KINGLY experience and even thought I found it a tad bit expensive, I wouldn't mind heading to Rajdhani Thali at any giving time to experience the amazing food and service!

Mumbai India
Gujarati food at its best
Mar 13, 2013 12:53 PM 2642 Views

Visited this place on a Sunday. Was full and had to wait for 15 mins. But it was worth it as the food we had was delicious. It was 100% Gujarati food, the taste was perfect. After having the thali, I was so full that couldn't even have a glass of water. The food really satisfied my hunger.

Only thing I didn't like much was the ambiance, it felt a bit dull. also the cost of the thali was slightly over priced. apart from that every thing was perfect. The service and the food were matchless.

Food and Service like no where else!

This place is recommended for everyone, Gujarati and Rajasthani food will just blow your mind away. This is my favorite restaurant for a good dinner with my family. The all time favorite gujju delicacies like undhiu, dhokla, sev tamatar ki sabzi, chaas and others are just wonderful over here. I haven't had better gujju food anywhere else. The service is super fast and efficient.

I visited this place on a Sunday when it was full of foodies but still the waiters were quick and the service didn't lag even a bit. I just felt that the place was bit expensive but I ain't complaining as the food and service were worth every penny!

Keep the good food and service as it is Rajdhani!

Food as good as the Tradition itself!

This restaurant from now on is my mood changing place. After working for 10 hours on a Sunday, I went to Rajdhani Thali which is near my office. I was very hungry and wanted to eat a good meal. That is exactly what I got over here!

When I sat at the table, there was a big thali in front of me with numerous bowls. I felt like a king waiting for his meal to be served. Soon enough one after the other the waiter began serving food items in my plate. Dhoklas, pickle, dahi, sabzi, rotis, dal/ Kadi and so one. within minutes my thali was filled and I was busy enjoying the delicious meal in front of me.

The food was superb. I had never in my life have ever had such delicious Gujarati/ Rajasthani food. Simply irresistible food. The service was nice as the waiters kept on serving you until you were full as you can be.

In the end they also wash your hands, a complete kingly experience.

Anyone who fancies good food should surely visit this place.

Too good!

If you are looking for an average quick-fix gujarati thaali, well, Rajdhaani could fit the bill just fine. The charge is a little over the top, especially since they(quite obnoxiously) charge separately for the sweets and the paan. Nevertheless, I see Rajdhaani as a place I can frequent say once in 3-5 months.

The place is well maintained, has an average deco, and some soulful instrumental music playing in the background. There is an attempt to take things to the Nawabi plane, what with the wash basin brought to your table! But the Nawab era ends just there - what followed was pretty average.

On the plate, you can expect a riot of food - mine started off with a spoonful of salad, 2 chutneys, dhokla, corn roll. There were 4 types of vegetables, 2 dals and 1 kadhi served. Then came in the roti, thepla and biscuit bhakari. I found the biscuit bhakari to be pretty much the highlight, hard on the outside, crispy on the inside with a sweet lingering taste. Then there was the khichadi and plain rice served. Along with this the mandatory, buttermilk. We had 2 types of sweets - god puri and rasogullas.

Well, all in all, this spread for 250(excluding sweets - which would cost another 26) is worth a shot if you need a break from the regular eat-outs - but just that. I dont see it as a regular joint that I can pig out at.
