Racold instant water heater-cool product
Jan 06, 2009 10:06 AM 27739 Views

I have a 125L solar water heater and at home and we are family of four. Often we faced this problem that 125L was not sufficient and we would realize at the time of bathing. So I was looking for a secondary source. So I decided to buy a instant water heater because storage water heater would need ~15 mins for heating and time is premium in the morning. I have used Racold and Usha Lexus storage water heater at my tenants' places already and based on my experience I decided to go for Racold.

My Racold storage heater is running from past 10 yrs without a single problem till date. Even my plumber recommended the same brand. So when went to the shops to buy I noticed no one was selling Racold, everyone had only bajaj instant heater. Finally I found it in Tata star bazaar, and the sales guy told the Racold has very less margin, so its not popular among dealers.

Anyways I have installed Racold heater now and its working perfectly fine. Its very sleek design, auto cutoff features just like other brands. There is one more feature, the heater won't switch on if the tap is not open, to prevent over heating. I found it very useful feature, its very much reqd for instant water heaters. One more point to be noted is that, in case of instant water heater unlike storage ones, you need to ensure tap is slightly open allowing small amt of water so as to allow the water to heat. Lesser you allow, more hotter will be the water. It will take atleast 5 mins to fill a bucket of water.Overall a good product that serves my purpose.I suggest prospective buyers to throughly analyze your need before deciding to go for instant water heater or storage water heater.

RACOLD SUCKS
Sep 29, 2008 06:18 AM 14395 Views

I have 4 Racold Water Heaters installed in my house since 2006. They SUCK. There has never been a day when all of them have been working. We have keep shifting our bathrooms to be in one that works!!! Their service center could easily be called the D-Company.

They simply hold people at ransom. Since I stay outskirts of the city [Bangalore], they harass me by asking to bring uninstall and bring water heater to their service center. No amount, request, cajoling OR threats work. I have to shell humongous amount of money to get the service agent come to my house, [the repair is always huge - burnt coil], take it to the service center and return. They have their own timings and NEVER comply to your time. You have take leaves and wait for them to come and provide service!!!

Each time I ask to be put on to a more responsible person they deny me information. Racold does NOT even have a site I guess [My Google Search failed to yield results] where I could get some Regional Office Information and complain.

TOTAL LOSS. I am planning to throw away all my Racolds and move to Johnson or V-Guard or Bajaj. The search is ON.

Racold 25 litres SPHP
Aug 05, 2008 07:15 PM 16361 Views

Recently purchased a racold 25 litres water heater one month back for which have faced a lotta heating problems takes a long time to heat compared to old racold water heater,

after a month I called the service centre they said that the coil is burnt so it has to be replaced so they would charge me a sum of 1050/- to replace it including service charges, why should I pay for a new water heater which is under guarantee I purchased a water heater at 7000 and just after a month another 1050 doesnt make any sense, but the person from the service centre said theres no guarantee for coil burning out. and for usage of salt water, I had no other option other than paying for the service. thanks to me looking at my old water heater at home I purchased a new one of the same.

i contacted the dealer from where I purchased it but he said we cannot help you in any way as there are franchisses who take care of service today and we dont handle service, the model doesnt carry an ISI which means its no more indian standards ( its outsourced and marketed in the name of racold).

The inner container is made up of MS so if I am using borewell water it depends on the salt content in the water by which the tank can get corroded very fast leading to problems in future for which he said an old racold water heater used to carry a copper inner tank which was energy efficient as well as highly durable. but today isnt that durable compared to the old racold water heaters, a copper tank water heater would be the best to buy. in terms of durability and energy efficiency.

i as a consumer would never recommend this model to any one who would want to buy a water heater, Racold Sphp as shown on the sticker of the product.

No good at all

Being told high about this heater by the agency. that is the shop from which I use to buy all eLectrical products. I bought 10L Racold around 2 1/2 yrs back on his advice. Was working well. But suddenly stopped. the coil got burnt. Coil burning out in 2 1/2 years...The guarantee period had just elapsed. Where as the other water heater (Venus) is 40 yrs old.

Its coil had to be changed after 30 yrs. Now 10 years .. working without any complaint.. what a difference? I take it for granted that Racold fits substandard quality component/ components.. in my case.. "the coil".I had to spend Rs. 750/ to get the coil replaced by a new one.

I feel that components like coil should not get damaged in such a short period, because it is not usually affected by low voltage. In our area never goes to high voltage.

Racold 15lt. water heater
Feb 19, 2007 09:22 PM 22862 Views

Although this is good looking water heater but it does not hold warmth of water for long, It means its insulation system is not up to mark. The consumption of electricity  is  equivalent to any other product of the same capacity.  The price is comparatively low hence it may be opted.there is another feature in this model of safety valve which ensures extra safety of users. If one is already using a water heater this is not one which can compel you to replace it.this is just okay but for middle class user this product is indispensable.

Writing 150 words about a simple water heater is too much.mouthshut must reduce this limit otherwise it will become quite boring and cumbersome. Finally I would like to sum up that this water may be purchased if you are going for first time to take a water heater.that's all.

Racold Geyser and Excel Traders - Bangalore
Feb 10, 2007 07:25 PM 37947 Views

WE bought a RACOLD 35 letre geyser from Excel Traders(Commercial Street, Bangalore) in September 2006. Yesterday(9th February 2007) the pipe carrying hot water from the geyser to the shower burst(apparently because the thermostat in the geyser is broken and is actually heating water to over a 100 degrees).

What is appalling is not so much that this happened - but the complete indifference by Excel Traders(the sellers) and Racold Customer Service(the makers). They are both refusing to take responsibility and are passing the buck.

The owner of Excel Traders was rude and completely unwilling to even talk to us - and the lady at the Customer Center at racold was rude and abruptly hung up when we tried to convince her of the problem.

Our bathroom is rendered useless until the pipe/ geyser is fixed - the main water tap has had to be shut off.

We are contemplating going to Consumer Court with this one. after all, someone could have been badly burnt! Does anyone have any advise on what we can do?

We baught 2 Nos ETERNO ER/25V / Sr nos : E N 04 07 4418 & E N 04 08 6198 from Durga Electricals, Mayur Vihar-1 Market,Delhi in February 2005.

One of the Geyser has started leaking with hardly usage of one season ! The fate of other GEYSER is yet to be seen as it has hardly been used.

I wonder how the quality will be for which we have paid a good price thinking they have Italian Collaboration.

Looks & Prices gave a feeling that product will be good & sturdy but opposite happened as leaking of Geyser is bad OMEN !

I do not understand if ITALIANS are not looking after the quality & if not ....then the fate of this product is also going to be like FIAT CAR where services were not provided & finaly it had to be taken over by TATA.

Let me see their after sales & will revert soon !

Racold Pronto Instant (1 L) Water Heater
Nov 24, 2006 04:04 PM 45624 Views

Racold Pronto Instant water heater is one of the most useful appliances you'll want in your home. It is small and sleek, fits almost every size of bathroom/kitchen and does what it is meant to do, i.e., supplies instant hot water at the press of a button at an average temperature of 40-60 deg Celsius.

I have been using this product from Racold for a month now, and am very satisfied with it. We are a three-member family, and use it mainly for taking a shower and occasionally for washing purpose. Although, most of the dealers in my city had recommended to go for the storage option when they heard that I want to use it in the bathroom to take showers, I was adamant in buying this model. The reasons for my selecting Racold Pronto Instant as against any other storage water heater are as follows: -

1) Storage heaters are bulky in nature and they take up a large space in the bathroom. Racold Pronto is very sleek and compact looking, and is a perfect fit for my bathroom

2) I am not prepared to wait for 10 minutes to get hot water and that too in installments (unless I buy a very large storage heater that will supply running hot water for my entire bath-time)

3) I may not need the entire hot water in the storage (e.g. if I am washing my face, I may need just 1-2 litres of hot water but the storage heater is heating the entire volume of water as per it capacity) and the rest will be wasted, which is also a wastage of electricity.

4) Cost of storage water heaters is more than double the cost of instant heaters available in the market (I bought Racold Pronto in October 2006 for around Rs 2200 plus installation and fittings charges amounting to Rs 400; the smallest storage heater available in the market, 5L from Racold/Bajaj/Compton Greaves would cost me anything between Rs 4500-5000, high end models are costlier as expected).

Just say NO to racold product
Oct 14, 2006 08:46 PM 16928 Views

I recently bought racold perla gas base water heater, and since it’s installed I am not able to use it for a day, and the way company is giving its service by the time winters will be over and warranty too... I am really frustrated and now I wants to throw it out and buy some local made...

After its installation, next day I logged its complain and did follow-up for few days then only a guy came and said some spring need to be change and it will take 2-3 days as it has to come from factory, but I was waiting for too long and keep on calling them every day but not now use. After I complain to their manager locally twice and threat to go to consumer court then only they send guys to repair it but they did a service which was to dangerous, although I close all my hot water tap but gas burner was still on ... now you can understand what a danger is there...

Defective Solar Water Unit
Aug 23, 2006 03:34 PM 29247 Views

I bought a Racold Solar Walter Heater (250 ltrs.) from MultiImpex (Sole distributor) on 12-April-2006 in Bangalore (Invoice no.121) considering the reliability of the equipment and the Racold’s credibility in the market. However, I am disappointed to see the equipment not functioning properly and poor quality panels. Their technicians tried to rectify and resolve the issue however with no results/failed to rectify. And I regret having made the decision to invest in this product and services.

There seems to be serious technical problem with the equipment installed at my place. It’s been only two months and the copper fins on both the panels are turning to green due to oxidation. This shows how poorly the black chrome coating has been done inside to save the cost. After several calls I received new solar panels on 18th Aug 2006 from the distributor which were worse than my old panels. The fins had been damaged and we could see few leakage marks and the joints were already green due to oxidation.

I sent those brand new panels back. I have also noticed other solar water heaters available in the market, performing excellently which in fact are cost-effective too - 40% less than Racold. Having experienced this, I am really disappointed and also caused a lot of nuisance to me and my family.

Dump this make before it dumps you
Feb 15, 2006 03:55 PM 28919 Views

Beware of Water geysers of Racold make. They are the worst geysers you can ever get. We had purchased these heaters and faced lot of issues, Every now and then the internal storage cylinder ( which was of metal) used to burst !

The service center doesnt answer your question on phone, even though they knwo what could be the problem and what will it cost. They charge 250 Rs to come to your home and without checkign anything just to tell you that you have to replace the cylinder and the cost is as high as getting a new geyser of local make !!

So even if you dont ask the person to replace the cynlider you need to pay 250.

Also you need to make a plumber available at the time the service person visits you as the service person will not touch the plumbing !! God knows how they expect me to know when the service person wil come to my home so that I can keep the plumber available.

INshort just avoid RACOLD water geysers.

Poor Racold Product ETERNO-ER/25V
Nov 03, 2005 03:49 PM 37224 Views

To add to my review of poor RACOLD ETERNO Water Heater product I reproduce below the earlier complain mailed to the Dealer/Marketeer of the product:

From: ''Arun Sen'' <arundlyrpt@yahoo.com> Add to Address Book Add Mobile Alert

Subject: Racold geyser complain

To: subhasantswal@mtsgroup.com

Dear Sirs,

I feel I have made a great blunder by purchasing a Geyser of

a so-called reputed Company/ make - Racold which I purchased

from one:

M/S Ankur Electricals

B - / 32 Sector 18, Noida

On 27.09.2003. (Bill No: 32551) Type : ETERNO – ER/25V

Within about 15 months, The Geyser ceased functioning and

immediately Complain was lodged on 13.12.2004 with the shop. They

gave some Tel. No of a service center of Noida who diverted me to

a Ghaziabad service center – M/S Saxena Enterprises who sent

the Electrician on 15.12.2004. The Electrician inspected and gave

his verdict that the Geyser need to be changed with another

one. In spite of my several reminders to the service centers, and

their casual promises that it will be set right soon the set

had not been set right when I phoned you to pl. intervene.

It appeared that the parts or consignment of the item were out

of stock at the service centers and were to arrive from Delhi

etc. etc.. The sum and substance of the sordid tale is that

at this peak winter days we have to go without hot water for

days in spite of purchasing a so called reputed and advertised

Geyser.

The local Delhi made Geyser I had been using for about 9, I

repeat Nine, years never gave me such trouble except

occasional replacement of the element which had been attended promptly.

All this hype of advertisements and tall talks about the

subject product is absolutely meaningless and can be called an

efficient “After sales hassles” rather than what is preached as

“After sales service” to the extreme dissatisfaction of the

customers and consumers.

May I request you to initiate a prompt action to exhibit

some after sales service to the customers including me and like

me.

Also I would request you to forward this message to the

higher ups in the company to enable them to get apprised of the

ground realities of the sales, marketing and services of their

products in this NCT around the Capital of India.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,

A.K.Sen

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Sirs,

Once again I am inclined to believe that ''after sales service'' is a term unknown in Indian consumer market and never practiced by the manufacturers and the marketing Companies.

One such company is <RACOLD>

My story goes like this:

Prior to my retirement from the services in 2003 I thought let me buy a water heater from a reputed manufacturer for an uninterrupted hot water service because of low maintenance and I chose to buy a Racold ETERNO water heater product from NOIDA.

Well it was big, good to look at and gave good service for about one season after which its heater element failed. To change the element from the dealer I had to move from pillar to post ( NOIDA to DELHI to GHAZIABAD)to catch hold of the service man who came very reluctantly and made a very shabby work as there was hot and cold water leakage from the pipes contd ( as this was within the warranty period at that time).

Now in Nov 2005 the replaced heater element and the Thermostat failed again within the next season of replacement and now it will have to be replaced by me by bearing the cost as the warranty period is over.

Earlier When I was using water heaters from local Delhi market , the failure rate was not at this pace as the element use to last for two seasons and there were no other failures from other parts and after sales service was quite prompt and their price was also comparatively lot cheaper.

The lesson of the story is : COSTLY and REPUTED COMPANY'S PRODUCT ADDS MORE HASSLES TO LIFE in lieu of MUCH HYPED ADS OF HASSLE FREE PRODUCTS

and THE COMPANY ''RACOLD'' manufacturing and marketing costly HOME APPLIANCES falls into this category.

I FEEL I AM CHEATED BY THE COMPANY OF RACOLD AND ITS CHAIN OF DEALERS AND SERVICE CHAIN GROUPS OPERATING AT DELHI-NOIDA-GHAZIABAD and I advise my friends and relatives and whoever comes across to be ware of such COMPANY'S PRODUCTS and never be lured by their ads and show off.

What a Service?
Nov 29, 2004 06:40 AM 21473 Views

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have purchased Racold PT/71 from Chapion Enterprises, 201, Budwar Peth, Pune, 411002, after bargaining with the owner at Rs. 1075.00. Initailly he said you booked it, will send it to your home and our man will install the water heater. So I have paid him the amount and wrote my address in his book and told him to contact the right person in front of me.

He did so and told me that the plumber will come next day at 10 am, but you have to carry the water heater along with you just now. I told him that it is home service. He told that installation is free. I have purchased this on 23/11/2004 and Bill no is 94. In the afternoon their plumber Mr Saudagar has given me a ring asking my address and will be istalling the water heater next day at 10 am.

I thought what a service. So on 24/11/2004 I was waiting for Mr Saudagar upto 6 pm. Then I went into operation i.e. installing water heater. I have finished it at 8 pm and went out for some work. My son came after some time and Mr Saudagar came.

My son was not aware of my operation, so he told plumber to give his mobile and told him that dad will contact you. On 25/11/2004 I called him and he said will come at 10am. I waited till 3 pm. I told him to check the installation. He did it and taken signature on one Bill Book for record purpose. Now the water heater is giving good service....What a Service?
