I recently been to pokhara last week. It is a beautiful clean and green city of Nepal. It has almost 7 lakes and many tourists attractions like

  1. paragliding

  2. Zip lining

  3. Boating

  4. Cycling

  5. Rock climbing

  6. Caves

  7. Falls

  8. And many more.

I stayed there for 4 days near the fewa actually I can see the view of the lakh from my hotel room, Hotel the coast, it was so beautiful. You can enjoy the walk, breakfast with the stunning view of the fewa lakh and the great annapurna mountain. After having a great meal, you can go to visit David's fall, Mahendra cave which you can reach by local bus. You can go to the sarangkot to watch the sunrise and mountain view which will make your moment with special one extra special. And about the night life, there are many live music, bar, pubs so that you can enjoy your drink with dancing it out.

All in all its a heaven on earth. I strongly recommend to go and visit the beautiful city of pokhara which is in Nepal. For Indian you can get direct bus to pokhara from Delhi or you can take flight to Kathmandu and than go to pokhara from there.

Pokhara is the largest city of Nepal by area and is a very clean and beautiful holiday destination. Pokhara is the gateway to the beautiful Mustang region and also the higher reaches of Mid-Western Nepal. The city itself has many lakes and panoramic hills surrounding it. The morning view of the mountains is a must watch. Especially during the autumn and winter seasons. Pokhara has a variety of tourist attraction facilities, beautiful lakes, serene viewpoints and a variety of adventure sports. Rent a mountain bike and discover the true heart of the city. Accommodation is cheap but one might find food to be a bit expensive. All in all Pokhara is a tourist spot quite extraordinary.

2 - Devi's Falls - Scenic : Waterfalls

3 - Sagarkot - Scenic : Sunrise, Snow Clad Mountain view

4 - Phewa Lake - Scenic : Boating

5 - Barai Temple - Hindu Religious site in midst of lake

5 - World Peace Pagoda - Cultural Site

6 - Manakamana Temple - Hindu Religious and Exciting Cable Way [EDIT - This temple is on way from Kathmandu and Pokhara and is about midway between the two places]

Pokhara a most beautiful of nepal . is in the northwestern corner of the Pokhara Valley , [6] which is a widening

of the Seti Gandaki valley that lies in the midland region ( Pahad ) of the Himalayas . In

this region the mountains rise very quickly, [7] and within 30 kilometres ( 19 miles) , the

elevation rises from 1, 000 to 7, 500 metres ( 3, 300 to 24, 600 feet) . As a result

of this sharp rise in altitude the area of Pokhara has one of the highest precipitation

rates in the country .

BEAUTY IS ALL ABOUT NATURE(Pokhara)

Umm.

As being Nepali myself and one of the civilian living in Pokhara. It is one of the beautiful place of Nepal as regarded to other places. Simply we can consider Pokhara as "THE POKHARA", because of it's beauty.

If we talk about accessibility to reach Pokhara than there is no direct flight to Pokhara from international air routes.Direct rout to Pokhara can be taken from neighboring countries i.e from(India, China and other Asian countries).

From tribhuvan international airport the visitor can catch flight direct to Pokhara airport.Rather if u like road route than

visitor can take bus, mini bus as well as other transport as the visitors like. The distance between Pokhara and capital city Kathmandu is about(206.56 km).It takes only 25 to 30 minutes to reach pokhara via airway rather it takes 5-6 hrs by bus and mini bus.

Lets talk about the real beauties of the place.

It is suitable to visit pokhara in any season and in any period of the year. The 1st thing or the real beauty can be seen far beyond before reaching pokhara we can see the fishtail mountain from so far that is covered with white snow. When the visitor reaches pokhara then they can feel that it is pokhara as it is surrounded by high hills, mountains, rivers and beautiful places. Pokhara is a mysterious place more you explore more it will expand.

There are lots of caves such that'bat cave', mate pani gumba' and lots.As the famous lake phewa lake and barahi temple is most visited place and other different temples. It is a place to hike, trek, para jump, para glide, bungee jump, rafting and visiting beautiful places.Rather there are lots and lots of places that visitors can visit in pokhara.

To know about pokhara the visitor have to cone once in Nepal and visit pokhara. Once people visit it they feel very exited and happy. They would like to visit is twice and thrice because of it's beauty and mystery.

As it is tourist desalinated area there are lots of hotels, motels, lodge and bars that mainly facilitates the visitor.Visitors are warmly welcomed in pokhara. The famous hotel in pokhara is "The lake side hotel", and barahi hotel etc there are lots of non reputed hotels and lodges that satisfies the visitors.

If we talk about the safety than visitor should not worry much as it is the most safest place which is guarded by nepal police force as well as armed police force.people are friendly and they take care of the visitors. For the safety of property and money there are lots of banks that take care of the property that belongs to visitors. Some hotels even take care of the things of the visitors. Pokhara is theft and robbery free place and visitor should be conscious about their things them self too.

TO KNOW MORE ABOUT POKHARA VISITOR HAVE TO VISIT POKHARA ONCE IN THEIR LIFE TIME.

Pokhara is a sub-metropolitan and the second largest city of Nepal as well as the headquarters of Kaski District, Gandaki Zone and the Western Development Region. It is located 200 kilometres ( 120 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu. Despite being a comparatively smaller valley than Kathmandu, its geography varies dramatically within just few kilometres from north to south. The altitude varies from 827 metres ( 2, 713 feet) in the southern part to 1, 740 metres ( 5, 710 feet) in the north Additionally, the Annapurna Range with three out of the ten highest mountains in the world — Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Iand Manaslu — are within approximately 15 -35 miles of the valley. Due to its proximity to the Annapurna mountain range, the city is also a base for trekkers undertaking the Annapurna Circuit through the ACAP region of the Annapurna ranges in the Himalayas. should I say about this city it is no words for saying anything because it is like heaven for tourists, whan you walking on phokara road you will be able to see somany tourists than locel Parsons because this city made for them, everything has there in pokra temples, side seeing rent convince, hotels with best aminites and facility's night bar and pub casinos, pokhra directly connected with air from major Nepal

cities khatmandu bhairawa mustang etc.

Mahendra Cave and Chamere Gufa are the other thrilling destinations of Pokhara. Similarly david falls anf the mystery of Seti river will never let your eyes close. If you are planning to visit any place in this spring, go for Pokhara. You will really enjoy.

Pokhara - beauty in the lap of Himalayas !
Feb 02, 2006 12:32 AM 4815 Views

If you ever visit Nepal in your lifetime, make sure you visit Pokhara, a small town set in the lap of nature with the mightly Annapurna Mountain range of the Himalayas providing a picture perfect backdrop for an idyllic vacation. Some hail it as the Switzerland of Nepal ! The town is frequented by a lot of tourists, foreign as well as local Nepalese who wish to escape from the maddening urban life in search of peace and solitude.

A beautiful scenic lake called Fewa lake and the picturesque Annapurna mountain range are pretty much the major attractions for tourists. Ofcourse, being a small town helps in the sense that you don't get the feeling of people rushing about their day-to-day work. Life is GOOOOOOOOOD here ! I recommend you stay at the Fish Tail Lodge in Pokhara which is set on a piece of land inside the lake and is accessible by a man made raft, which adds to the whole experience. Fish Tail Lodge is the only landmark place to stay in Pokhara coz its right there where nature stays. The place has been a favourite amongst the VIPs and the Royals since a long time including Prince Charles, Prince Naruhito of Japan, President Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy and many more. The Annapurna Mountain Range is visible on a clear day and is particularly marked by a unique mountain called Machhapuchhare in Nepali which means Fish Tail. The shadow that this mountain creates in the Fewa lake gives an appearance of the tail of a fish.

Once you're in Pokhara, you must visit Sarangkot, a hill top destination to view the morning sunrise. Believe me, the view is absolutely FABULOUS !! As the sunlight makes its appearance, the snow capped peaks of the Annapurna Range become Golden in colour. This will be an experience you will never forget for the rest of your lives !! I felt the mountains calling out to me, asking me to join them and bathe in this morning sunlight. I wish I had the wings to soar above these mountains and share their joy.

You must also take a boat ride in Fewa lake while you're admiring the beauty and the vast expanse of the lake. There is a temple in the middle of the lake dedicated to Goddess Durga and frequented by the Royal family too.

Another important place unique to Pokhara is the International Mountaineering Museum. I suggest that you must make a trip to this place even though you're not quite enthusiastic about mountaineering or musuems in the first place. The mere location of the museum provides for some stunning pictures that you will cherish life-long !!

I fell in love with the Annapurna Mountains and I bet you will too :-)

Get to Pokhara and add everlasting memories to your life experience !!

It saddened me to find no body reviewing about this beautiful place, anyways better late than never.

I have lived here during my school days for about 7 years, some call it switzerland of nepal and I do agree with a stipulation tha with switzerland I mean the best nature has to offer.

It's a small valley situated at 827 m altitude 200km west of the capital. it's famously called the lake city, because of the numerous lakes in the valley.

More than a decade ago almost over a dozen lakes existed, but now about 5 major lakes are there. The most famous is Fewa Tal, by Tal in nepali it means lake, the major attraction is the temple that is located in th middle of the lake, can u believe it there are trees growing in the middle of the lake??? I dont know how but there are, Most tourist enjoy boating here and there are some who either take ferry or canoe by themselves. It's ideal place of couple to hang around, many are seen in the near by forest camping and.........

Other lakes like Begnas, Tilka are major but most tourist find fewa a site to watch, I think it's due to the reflection of the huge mountains that u can see in the lakes.

About the mountains, the Annapurna range, especially the Machhepuchree( or rather Fishtail) is seen at its best from pokhara, tourist flock to this place to see those beautiful mountains upclose from a hill called Sarangkot. It's great to go trekking if u can, around 1 and 1/2 hours uphill climb but the price is much more when u read the top.

Another wonderful experience u can have is to go gliding. It's one of its kind in the country. Although I haven't tried once, it must be a hell of experience to fly like bird.

Equally important to visit once u are here is Davis' Fall, it's a waterfall that goes underground , legend has it that a guy named Davis had been swept while he was swiming upstreams and his body never recovered. Some claim to have seen image of a man in the mist over the fall, no wonder it should be Davis himself!!

If u have passion for dark and creepy places, you shoudn't miss to explore the caves. Mahendra Gufa(cave in nepali) named after our late king the cave is slippery and dimly lit, there are idols of gods from dates unknown and many more scary idols.

The outlet of the cave is small so I don't suggest obese people to take a walk there. Still more creepy is Chameli gufa, not long ago found is complete pitch dark and u need torches to go there, u can hire a guide but still what's the use if you can't explore on ur shelves.

There are freak streets like Lakeside, Chipledhunga where u can buy souvenirs.

Hotels are there according to ur bugdet, I higly recommend to stay one night at Fulbari, it's one of the finest of Asia.

These are just a few things that I like the most, u can find out more at,

https://nepalhomepage.com/travel/places/hilly/pokhara.html

Imp!! Any of you making plan to go to pokhara don't be scared with all the news about internal conflict in the country, security is much tight in pokhara than in the capital, just feel the nature at its best in the shadows of the mountain.
