Went once to pind Velachery, first most admirable was the ambience, it was like Punjab village style which made us think living in Punjab. All the utensils was in Punjab style. Naan with butter was so delicious and mouth watering. It's little bit costly but worth for money

GOOD PUNJABI KHANA
Feb 03, 2018 06:05 PM3855 Views

On the eve of New Year we had the occasion to visit Pind Restaurant in Velachery.

On the second floor of the restaurant Veg food is served and on top of it Non Veg food being served.

They have a very big area of parking and on the entrance of the restaurant big punjabi idols welcome us and an auto model is kept for the visitors to sit and get snapped.

This restaurant is always crowded. Every time we go there, we need to wait for minimum 30 minutes.

We ordered buffet for three of us and the variety of starters they serve are amazing. Right from Pani poori, dahi poori to various starters including pastha, noodles are served to fill the stomach.

They play the punjabi songs on the speakers which will tend one to dance.

The ambience of the shop is beautifully designed and the waiters never keep their customers waiting for the food. They speak Hindi as well as good English and serve the food immediately as and when we order.

The SAAS(bettermilk) they provide is of much taste.

Dining out at the Pind Restaurant is a good value for money.

Good place for Punjabi Food
Dec 22, 2017 07:52 PM3222 Views

Today, after watching movie, we had lunch at this place. Being fond of punjabi food, I decided to go this place. They have menu for punjabi food. We ordered punjabi thali. All the items in thali were very tasty. Thali is enough for 1 person hungerness. They served it neat and clean way. their staff are quick in the service. It is small resturent and usually there is not much crowd.

After punjabi thali, I had lassi full glass. After taking lassi, there were no place in stomach to have anything.

I really enjoyed lunch at this place and is money worth.

This restaurant in chennai is one of my favourite and i am sure it will be yours too if you pop in once,as it not only has a decent ambience it also has a good cusine and good service and the rates are quite fine depending upon the current trends,so if you pop in here make sure you do it with your family and whatever your cusine do not forget to order punjabi beer in sufficient quantity(you try to take home as well) because it is just too good.

Don't order for Home Delivery!
Jun 24, 2015 08:29 PM6384 Views (via iOS App)

Made a mistake ordering for home delivery. I have had here a couple of times and felt the food is good but it was nowhere close to satisfying in my last experience.

Happened to taste a Paneer Butter Masala which was just a tomato purée with Paneer . Soup was also tasting terrible with bread crumps completely soaked in it . Ppl should first learn to pack sensibly!

It is a pure vegetarian dinning hotel located on Main road 1 Velachery. From outside it looks very simple but when you will enter inside hotel the environment is so clean, very nice ambiance, interior is so good and catchy, the arrangement of sitting area, dine area typical Punjabi feels that's why it's named Pind which means Village in Punjabi language.

As Punjabi famous for their hospitality same here you will welcome by great hospitality and heart and sweet smile.   The food is also same tasty yummy as Punjabi food is, Must try Malai Paneer with Naan, also must try Prantha with clarified butter, it will surely remind you to visit again and don't forget to order Lassi. Famous drink of Punjab, without this no fun of food. It's full refresh drink also if you will drink in starting before food than no space will left in your tummy for food.

Customer Service is quick in this hotel, no much waiting after ordering food, even when full of crowd. Must visit here once with your Family.

One of the very few places that has best tasting foods! An appealing thing about this place is that it has got typical Punjabi set up. You need to book your table beforehand because throngs of people would clamor inside the restaurant by virtue of the demand. Also, it is located in a vicinity that is very commutable. One of the nicest things, probably the best, about Pind is its Paneer delicacies. They have numerous varieties of paneer based starters. Achari Paneer tikka is my favourite.

The ambiance is a bit noisy with dull lights, and the servers wouldn't be welcoming at all. At times, due to high volumes of noise, it would be as cacophonous as Ranganathan street. You cannot expect them to even smile at you. Known for its taste, Pind has got some of the overly lip-smacking rotis and kulchas to make you drool over them. They have manifold varieties of desserts(almost 3 pages), but all of them won't be available. Still, with what they really have, they would give you the best.

Coming to the price, the foods are only available for exorbitant rates. A single plate of Paneer Tikka(6 pieces) is available for as cheap as Rs. 200 without tax, great isn't it? If they could haul down the price rates of the best foods to being affordable by all, it would be great.

Also, being one of the most sought after restaurants in-and-around velachery, alleviating the prices will help garner more customers.

The quickest bill I received

We ordered for the soup, we tried the hot and sour, cream of tomato and sweet corn soup and the only decent soup of the lot was the hot and sour. One would think you can never go wrong with a tomato soup. Guess again? It was terrible. We also ordered a coriander based soup and they thought it was okay to bring a tomato soup instead without asking first. Some of us had finished the soup while others were still waiting.

For starters we had a tandoori platter, a Chinese platter and cheese corn balls. The platters were average, a little too spicy and oily for my taste, but the paneer dishes in the platter was one of the finest I've had in Chennai. It was Extremely soft and well cooked. Loved the flavours. The cheese corn balls were very cheesy and had chaat masala sprinkled all over and had a twist to it and tasted great but the only problem was you get four pieces in a plate could have been at least six?

For the main course, we ordered aloo paratha, cheese garlic naan, biryani and paneer subzis. All the dishes were quite okay but nothing great or out of the world. Oh! By this point the others in the group finally got their soup.

The only fast service of the day was the bill.

Good If All You Want Is To Eat Some Food
Apr 30, 2014 07:19 AM7781 Views

It was my birthday! And was checking on Zomato at the ratings of places to go when I came across Pindi. I had never heard of this place before(but was aware that this was a popular name in other places for quality north west food). Was surprised to see this place was vegetarian but the rates said this was the second best place to eat in Chennai!

So on a whim, decided to give it a try.

Since I live in Porur, finding this place was a hassle. Google maps led me to a road that did not exist and after going round and round the Velacheri road in peak traffic, and then parking the car on the side and walking into the lane where this place is, found Pindi at last.

My wife was at first was disappointed as the place did not look rich enough for a birthday dinner(!) and was even angry o find Chinese items mentioned in the buffet menu! But we went with it anyway.

As the food came our mood changed slowly and ended on a satisfactory note when they gave us a special 'pan ice-cream' when I told the waiter we had come a long way to find his place (and he also saw we were very light eaters!)

The fresh lime juice with mint was a nice welcome drink and the paneer butter masala was soft and nice. My wife did find the food a little spicy but I like it that way.

The let downs in the ambiance. The decor is unimaginative and the music is either not there or is bad! The service is fair; but the food does make up for all other shortcomings.

Its a place a foody should visit.

Review on “Pind” Velachery

My experience in dining with ‘Pind’ in Velachery has not been good. Read appealing reviews about it, so made it a point to visit and dine out there one of the weekends.

Ambience: Pretty Good

Food Quality: Not good. Kababs were extremely spicy, so much that the actual taste could not be felt. Paneer Butter Masala was sour in taste. It had the taste of tomato puree alone. Even the vinegar soaked onions were moist and tasted very different. Tandoori Rotis were reasonably good.

Cost: Cost was high comparatively. All Parathas and Kulchas cost Rs 50 per piece. Tandoori Roti, Hara-Bhara Kabab and Paneer Butter Masala costed me around Rs 580. Again, cost can definitely be considered for tasty food.

Service: Service was kind of ok, but nothing to the delight of a customer. There are so many restaurant these days for the Punjabi foodies in Chennai with pretty good food and at the right cost. It does not catch the eyes of the customer unless and until there is something extra that adds to the delight of a customer. Biswarupa Velachery
