It was my birthday! And was checking on Zomato at the ratings of places to go when I came across Pindi. I had never heard of this place before(but was aware that this was a popular name in other places for quality north west food). Was surprised to see this place was vegetarian but the rates said this was the second best place to eat in Chennai!
So on a whim, decided to give it a try.
Since I live in Porur, finding this place was a hassle. Google maps led me to a road that did not exist and after going round and round the Velacheri road in peak traffic, and then parking the car on the side and walking into the lane where this place is, found Pindi at last.
My wife was at first was disappointed as the place did not look rich enough for a birthday dinner(!) and was even angry o find Chinese items mentioned in the buffet menu! But we went with it anyway.
As the food came our mood changed slowly and ended on a satisfactory note when they gave us a special 'pan ice-cream' when I told the waiter we had come a long way to find his place (and he also saw we were very light eaters!)
The fresh lime juice with mint was a nice welcome drink and the paneer butter masala was soft and nice. My wife did find the food a little spicy but I like it that way.
The let downs in the ambiance. The decor is unimaginative and the music is either not there or is bad! The service is fair; but the food does make up for all other shortcomings.
Its a place a foody should visit.
