Philips HL1641 Reviews

Good one
May 26, 2020 04:40 PM840 Views

I bought Philips HL1641/D long long ago. The first impression was a bad one because unlike my Sumeet mixie, the jars got rusted showing that it is of poor quality steel which simply put me off since I purchased it by looking at the brand name. After some use, I repaired my Sumeet and simply forgot about it.

Now after many years, since my Sumeet jar got a little stuck and I could not repair it for 1 month due to Corona lock down, I am using Philips. I am using chutney jar to grind urad dal little by little(small jar) by pouring very less water for idlis & it grinds very smoothly for vadas & idlis. It's okay for tough grinding. For powder grinding, you have to grind by giving rest periodically since the jar becomes hot. But for masala grinding and juice, it is excellent, esp., the 4 leaf blade of the big jar blends juice, smoothies, tomato puree etc absolutely without any residue which none of the other mixies(not even my old Sumeet, 750W Preeti Chef Pro) can boast about. So I have found out a new function in it & am glad I am using it. Once it was locked in a room when I went abroad for 6 months, it became off white color losing its sheen and look of style. The plastic and steel materials could have been up to date for such a reputed company.

Nice, but juicer is worthless

The mixie makes less sound as compared to my previous one (Kenstar), and since it is new all the jars, caps and washers fit perfectly. All the jars are good except the juicer one. It has a major flaw. All the pulp gets accumulated at the bottom of the mesh and the blades are unable to take in the new fruit pieces that keep lying at the top of the pulp.

You have to remove the pulp so often - (at every 1/4 glass juice), dirty the entire area with juice drops, use spare utensils for removing the pulp and sqeezing the pulp to remove left-over juice. It's too messy and slow. I am never going to use the juicer attachment again. If you are planning to buy this mixie, it's better to go for the one which has just the three jars. This juicer attachment is useless and I am sure nobody will use it.

Good looks but very, very, very bad motor

I brought this Phillips Mixer grinder on 28/08/2011, from Trichur, Kerala. I brought it because of 2 reasons. One it is a Phillips brand which is very reputed and second the styling was good. Little did I know what was in store for me. I came home from the showroom and tried to make mossambi juice. In the first minute itself smoke started coming out of the mixer and stopped. Called the showroom, they said this is a common problem, bring it in we will fix it. Good enough they were super fast in fixing it, They did it in a day. Went and got the mixer, came home, was a little scared to start it, anyways the next thing I know was the smoke this time was much more than the first day.

Well I have called the showroom and they have said to bring it in again.

So I am back to the first step. Still no juice.

So much for Phillips.

Anyone wanting to buy a mixer from Phillips better forget it. If this is the case with a simple mixer dont know how their other products are.

Philips super silent mixer

Hi, Though the motors in mixers work fine, what is the use if one or the other part keeps malfuncitoning. I feel it hardly matters about the quality of motor. Earlier I have used maharaja whiteline, a local branded mixer & Kailash mixer.

Everything worked fine till 2years but one or the other part started malfunctioning. I changed Kailash to Philips only bcoz I was totally frustrated with the operation of the mixer. If used for more than a minute it woud stop for anothter 15mins which was something I cd not tolerate inspite of so many repairs. I felt the local branded one was much more better.

Now I have philips super silent which seems to work fine like Maharaja whiteline (I was very very happy with that product. I had to go for a local one bcoz I gave it to someone). As of now the mixer is working fine, let us see for how long.

HL 1643 - latest version of 1641
Jun 24, 2005 02:28 PM25846 Views

I had purchased the Philips new silent version of HL 1641, which had been recommended by family friends in Chennai. Muthulakshmi Store in Mumbai told me about the latest version.

This new product makes hardly any sound. I now do my cooking any time, without anybody at home realising that the mixie is on.

I have always seen my mom use a Sumeet, so when I got married was planning for the same, and then the family friends suggested this philips mixie.

What do I like about it, it hardly takes any space in the kitchen. Specially with Mumbai kicthens being tiny. It comes with 4 jars. With all the four jars all my grinding and even juicing requirements are taken care of.

Smoothest is the filter in the blender jar. You can puree tomato and get no seeds or skin in it. I even tried watermelon in it, superb juice without any seeds.

Work in my kitchen goes on without, anybody telling me to switch off my mixie.

I can put full onion and tomato in it, and it will ground to smooth paste. In the smallest jar, place two garlics and fine paste, no wastage. A small piece of ginger also and total paste.

Grinding is smooth, fast, and silently done.

Now no need to stop watching TV while I cook.

Cute & Classy

Philips is a relatively new entrant in the Indian mixer / grinder market dominated by Sumeet. At home, we had been quite 'steady' with Sumeet for many years. Recently, when our earlier machine started giving problems, we decided to get a new grinder just before Diwali. On an impulse we decided to opt for Philips, which incidentally gave a good trade-off for our old machine.

Friends, let me admit my impressions as a user are limited (a typical ''hands-off from kitchen'' man), but from what I hear from my dear ones, the machine is quite good and upto the mark.

From a design point of view, some features are worth highlighting. The HL 1641 model has a round and symmetrical base with vacuum pads below to firmly anchor the machine to the table / base. Space occupied is less compared to the L shaped design adopted by various manufacturers There is a thoughtful drain attachment on the machine receptacle to protect the motor from possible leaks from the grinding jar situated above. Lastly I found the styling good and aesthetic.

I am confident that the machine will be durable considering Philips quality and reputation in electrical & electronic appliances.
