Just Worked But Worst Customer Care
Apr 12, 2016 07:40 PM4742 Views (via Android App)

Previously, Philips was a better brand nowadays it is becoming irrelevant and pathetic day by day. This product is from this brand and it was launched in March 2011 by Philips. I purchased it after 6 months of launch on the ocassion of Diwali with freebies and discount.

But got cheated by the dealer. I purchased it for chopping, mixing, kneading and grinding but here motor doesn't allows to do so, as it gets overheated after a use of half an hour and different kind of sound comes from food processor. I contacted customer care but nothing happens. I would say that the customer support of Philips is very bad, even worst. Firstly, it is aprroximatelt 50 KM from my resisdence. I contacted to send any technician, they told tomorrow we will send but no one reached and then I visited their service centre then again they told that we will send but no one came. At last, I carry it to the nearest electrician and he fixes it at low cost. I would not suggest this food processor because of pathetic customer service support.

Mixer Grinder + Food Processor

The photo shown is of Philips food processor HR7625(Daily Collection) and not HL1659(Lavender Intelligent).

The actual photo is attached here.

Best Price: Rs 7, 500/-

This model was introduced by philips in 2008.

Warranty for 2 years.

3 Stainless Steel Jars(and not plastic or glass jars which are susceptible to scratches).

Blender Jar and Bowl made of SAN(Styrene Acrylonitrile) resin, which has high thermal resistance; meaning that hot liquids(not boiling) will not cause warping of the containers. Though it is recommended to cool them before putting in the blender.

Maximum recommended continuous usage for 30 minutes. The motor shuts off after 5 minutes(in auto mode) and 3.5 minutes(in manual mode) of continuous operation, and will start within the next 5 minutes.

The processor on power up goes in'Auto' mode by default, that is, it will run the motor for the time you provide(timer based). Fix the jar with lid on and press down the arm on the lid, so the whole assembly is locked. In this mode if the time display shows 00:00, then the speed knob will not start the motor, since the time given is 0. Use the up and down arrow buttons to increase or decrease the time in steps of 5 seconds, and keep it pressed for changing the time further. Now turn the knob to whichever speed you want. The motor will start and the time starts to decrease every second, and after the set time the motor will stop on its own.

If you don't want to use the timer(that is Auto mode), go to'Manual' mode. To put in manual mode press'Mode' button and the display will change from 00:00 to °o:o° . Now turn the speed knob and the motor runs if the jar is locked with the lid on and pressed with the arm.

The timer displays the following symbols

__:__ Power On

00:__ Jar Fitted

00:00 Ready(Arm Locked) in Auto Mode

°o:o° Ready(Arm Locked) in Manual Mode

XX:AE Arm Ejected(XX is remaining time)

JE:XX Jar Ejected(XX is remaining time)

OL:__ Over Load(Reduce quantity in jar, wait for few minutes, and press overload release button at bottom)

Some recommended tips:

Use speed 1 only for food processor and blender jar, both of which are made of plastic.

To release vacuum feet, press vacuum lever at bottom for 2 to 3 seconds and then lift up the motor unit.

To cancel the set time in Auto mode(also called timer mode), bring speed knob to 0 and then press'Mode' button twice.

To change the time while in operation. Bring knob to 0. Change time using up or down buttons and then turn knob to the required speed.

For grinding(wet/dry/chutney) use speed 1 and 2 for 10 to 15 seconds and there after use speed 3 till you finish grinding.

Clean jar/bowl immediately after use with running water, as it is much easier and faster compared to keeping food stagnant and risk it colouring and hardening the plastic jar/bowl.

To remove carrot juice from plastic white parts(it will happen when shredding carrots), clean with running water, put a few drops of cooking oil and rub it on the surface which dissolves the carrot pigments, and then wash with detergent. Wash immediately after use, as the stains may become stubborn and difficult to remove.

To prepare dough for chapatis. Put a few drops of cooking oil in bowl and smear it evenly on the inside surface, also apply on plastic blade and spindle. Put the empty bowl on the motor unit, fix the spindle and the plastic kneading blade. Only after this put wheat flour(2.5 cups for 7 chapatis) on top of the blade. Add a pinch of salt. Cover the bowl. You can cover the bowl before itself and put flour from feeding tube. Keep 1 cup of water ready in a jug. Start the motor at speed 1. Put water in feeding tube slowly. After a minute the dough would have mixed nicely. Once you open the bowl lid and put it back again for further kneading, will cause the dough to come out from bottom of the bowl. Therefore remove the lid only when you think no further kneading is required.

Wet slightly you palms with oil/ghee and remove the dough. wash the bowl immediately with running water. No need to wash with detergent every time. Wash it once in a week with detergent or when slimy vegetables are chopped.

What I do not like about this food processor:

The rubber seals are smelly and look and feel crumbly. Philips could have used a better material for it, something odorless and with good finishing. It has been only a week I started using it so do not know the long term wear and tear that will occur. Still there is a solution to it if you like this food processor.

First, wash it(and everything else that will come in contact with food) thoroughly the first time you use it, with detergent. Keep in open air for a day. After it is dried up, put a few drops of cooking oil on the rubber seals and smear it.

Second, while storing the jars do not close the jar the way you do while using it. Place the lid on the jar with the rubber seal facing up and keep the small opening in the lid open. The rubber will only smell if you lock the jar air tight.

I hope it will be useful to all.

Rohit.

No complaints

I totally disagree with other reviews, I found this product very useful, especially for the preparations of the Indian food.

Yes, after getting the basic idea of the working of this product, u need to do some trials on ur own. Basically, the kind of preparations and the food differs in every house (just like the taste of food). So it is the user who need to see how the product suits u as per ur needs and get the max. out of it. I find it very useful to cut leafy vegetables, which is otherwise very time consuming, as well as other vegs. too; for the steamed rice flour needed for modak(sweet dumplings), slicing, cutting, atta making and many more. it is far better than only a mixer-grinder

Also, the service I got from the center was prompt. No complaints at all.

Dont know about product, customer service horrible
Mar 29, 2011 03:20 PM12591 Views

I've recently brought a Philips food processor(HL 1659). I bought it on the 14th of March2011, and called your customer service(as mentioned on the box)and requested a demo of the product, as I didnt want to try something on my own and damage the product.

I didnt hear back from anybody, so I called back on the 17th. They promised to send someone'soon'. Still no response. I called again on the 18th. Some more empty promises. Called again today 28th of March 2011. I keep hearing'the technician will come at the'earliest', whatever that is supposed to mean.

There are a lot of negative comments about the philips customer service on the internet(google it to check), but I still bought it, assuming its a reputed brand, and will have some checks and balances in place. Apparently you dont. The problem should have been escalated by itself, when there is no resolution within 48hrs. Instead, you make people call time and time again, with all kinds of problems at your end. At every time that I called, I asked to talk to a supervisor. Each time my call was put on hold, and my call dropped after a loooooong wait. Its irritating, frustrating, and altogether infuriating.

It is a big black mark against the product and the brand, and I will also put my experience on the internet, though I actually normally like your products. In this case, its already too much of a headache, and I havent even openend my product yet!

I only hope you take feedback from customers seriously, else you will lose out on market share, not from defective products, but from handling people badly.

(BTW, today is the 29th, and still no news from P

Worst servicing
Jan 23, 2011 11:50 PM10837 Views

I regret for purchase of this product. It has stopped working within the guarantee period. The machine stopped working completely. The Philips engineer came after 5 days after registering complaint.

He was not able to repair the product. While trying to repair, he damaged the adjustable arm. After two days another Service engineer tried to repair.

But is still not able to repair the adjustable arm. Disguisting services. Have therefore lost trust in any Philips product.

I will not recommend any one to purchase this product.

The motor stopped working in 10 days
Oct 30, 2010 08:34 PM8559 Views

I got this one for my mother simply going by the name of Philips and now I regret it. Its been just 10 days and the motor has stopped working. Now I'm waiting for the service people to show up and listen to what crap they reasons they can give. As for the product, the food processor fittings are the only face saver. They cut and knead pretty well. The timer mechanism is a real pain to use. The worst part is the motor. It overloads with the slightest load! To be honest, I feel cheated. No more Philips products for me!

Useless Product
Mar 20, 2010 12:01 PM9805 Views

We were using the food processor of Singer for last 7 years and now I can say that we were really proud and satisfied about the product. We only wanted to switch over to Philips with the understanding that it will be better in product and services. We were really impressed by the look of the product and your title which clearly says sense and simplicity and free your hands while cooking and have kept the hopes more that our existing food processor.

We have purchased the above model from Vijay sales, Pune. We were not able to understand the product manual and it was not simple ( it contradict your slogan of simplicity) as compared to your peers or competitor(s) therefore we requested for the Demo.

We were told that the Demo will be provided within 48 hours from the time we log the call and executive will come at your comfort timing. Please note this was not adhere too and we had to do multiple reminder calls and the executive only visited only on the fifth day from our registration of call.Your executive has visited yesterday for the Demo and we are surprise to know that we knew much about the product then your executive.

I was also shock to know your food processor do not have the basic features of the product which is been offered by competitor for lesser value and more warranty .Some of the point observed is noted below

  1. It does not segregate seeds from the fruits. Eg. Water melon seeds when questioned your executive says that we have to remove the seeds before inserting the fruits in juicer jar. What a surprise we moved to food processor to save our time instead it will take more of our time.

  2. Manual is not at all self explanatory. Do not provide any details on how to use this for making dough ( do not refer to quantity of flour water duration etc)

  3. It takes much of the storage place if compared to your competitor. We are totally not satisfied with the product.

Worst product from Philips
Jul 10, 2009 12:04 PM8515 Views

With great expectations I rejected other food processors for Philips, and I bought one year back. when I bought I found I am totally wrong

  1. Gear mechanism got failed thrice, in one month, and atlast with some changes it is working OK

  2. As they claim that it is powerful, it is wrong, it goes always to Overload, even for light loads as compared to my sumeet 550W mixer

  3. Sound is worst compared with any non branded Mixie. Philips is misguiding us by wrong claim that the food processor is silent

  4. Opening and closing the Jar is very difficult as compared to normal mixie

  5. The time display unit is wrongly mounted, and that vibrates like anything

  6. My small jar is not moving smoothly, in 6 months. I have ony option to buy the special philips jar taht is definitely costly

  7. The coupler leaf has broken in one year, when I took to service, they told taht I have to pay for the coupler, because it plastic, and they don't provide guarantee for that.

In summary what I will suggest is that, except the look, this processor is a failure totally. Bringing to home will only increase your problems.

Really slow customer support for new machine
May 22, 2009 02:24 PM7989 Views

I purchased a HL 1659 Philips food processor in December 2008. The dealer, based in a prestigious store, Westside, promised to deliver it to me and have a service person come around for showing us how it is operated. The person who came in for a demo did not know how to operate a food processor. Since then it was all downhill.

One of the jars was improperly made and so it leaked. Service personnel came and went and almost two months later they replaced the jar.

Today the machine just stopped functioning. I called the customer care who said that they will send me a service person to check the item within 48 hours. About my need for the item and the loss of equipment for cooking is not considered.

I asked for a replacement of the equipment since it is failing so soon. That cannot be considered even though I have paid good money for the machine. It is a long process is what I am told.

In short, I would suggest that until Philips really upgrades their service system, it is better to go for a cheaper local alternative that we can repair locally without going to the fancy customer care
