Definitely one of the underrated cameras. I gifted this to my cousin as a first dslr and he absolutely loves it. This camera represents a great value proposition. My only nit pick is that if you have big hands, the shutter release is not where your index finger naturally falls. I wish there was some texture on the silver shutter release button to help you know your finger tip is on it.
So many useful features and the ergonomics of having the two dial adjusters is typically something reserved for high end cameras. I got the 18-135 mm lens bundle and it is an awesome lens. You can easily use this camera for 80% of your walking around all day shots.
Very sharp image quality edge to edge, and fast af , quiet since its dc motor and not screw drive.af locks on fast, I've not had it hunting even in low light interior use. Quick-shift focus gives greater composition control. Like the Sv setting, to lock an iso , and have the shutter and aperture be auto selected. Very well thought-out functionality, menus, and buttons. I typically use the Av for DoF control shots where I have enough light and can get nice bokeh. The Tv is good for shooting portraits of faster moving subjects, like infants, pets, or other squirmy little critters. TAv is also handy because you can adjust shutter and aperture using the dials.
At the price point of either the body only, body with 18-55, or 18-135 kit lens, this camera is a good value that will not be out-dated for many enthusiasts and folks who are looking beyond point-n-shoot limitations, but not ready to get into more complex and expensive higher-end options. If you find you have outgrown this camera, then the Sony A6300 would be a nice step up . It represents as good a value but with even more capabilities but at a higher price point of course.
