Soulful Album from Pardes!!!
May 27, 2015 09:57 AM 8548 Views

Evergreen songs have been the USP for all the Ghai's movie and Pardes has been a blockbuster when it comes to music.

My personal fav "Do dil mil rahe hai" sang by Kumar Sanu is absolutely melodious. The guitar music along with instrumental notes in the background are a delight to the ears.Anand Bakshi has penned the lyrics and he is a Gem to the world of music.Mesmerizing is the word to descibe the song.so soulful and romantic

My next fav " Dil Deewanan" sang by Sonu Nigam is power packed and heart clutching. It grips your heart and demands for your attention.it melts you at the same time to think about your lost love.Gorgeous song and beautifully done by Sonu.He is a brillaint singer with a rich voice.

My ultimate fav " meri mehbooba" is so soulful and romantic.sang so beautifully by Alka.expect I dont like that english in between " oh bloody bloody" other than that its a good song sang with an heart

All the songs of this film have a good fusion between classical indian and western beats.and a harmony is created which will always be hummed by indian of all age groups.these songs are just as soulful as a new day with sun rising from da waters of Ganga.emmersing you with its warmth and brightness.Double Thumbs up from me!

A Wonder in Music World--Pardes

This is the one most unusual album which I have ever seen from Nadeem-Shravan. The best of the arrangements ever heard in one single album. Every song is a best one. On the whole a very high quality product. Lyrics by Late Anand Bakshi are of highest quality.

Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain. Kumar Sanu sing the song. One of the very best of tunes Nadeem-Shravan ever produced accompanied with the music. One beautiful note of guitar is continuous through the song which is none less than fabulous. Each and every instrument in deliberately and wonderfully utilized. Check out the piano work in between the verses which is Superb. A wonderful song forever.

Meri Mehbooba. Kumar Sanu & Alka Yagink sung the song with chorus. The song is routine number in any of NS’s album but this time with the wonderful chorus has made the song more beautiful and finally Alka sung with a great joy and with her soft expressions. All in all the song is excellent.

Deewana Dil. Sonu Nigam sung the song. The song has the best ever music with the best of instrumental usage. The consistent violin and a special English line with hottest music makes the song above every of the special songs. Melody is also the highlight of the song.

My First Day in USA. Hema Sardesai sung the song. It is more of a situational song but has good or I should say very good music. You can say it an above average song. The arrangements are the best one again lyrics are situation and while watching the movie one surely enjoys it.

Nahin Hona Tha. Sabri Brothers, Alka Yagnik & Udit Narayan sung the qawali cum song. Lyrics are good with some good Tabla-Harmonium combination. Sabri Bros. as always don’t disappoint here with Alka’s voice seems heavens. In the closing of song Udit singing Meri Mehbooba with a passion which is so beautiful that I wish if Udit would have sung the song Meri Mehbooba. Well on the whole a good song which keeps the momentum of the album in the same graph.

Jahan Piya. Chitra sung the song. More of A.R.Rehman’s style song but still it’s by NS a wonderful song with some extraordinary lyrics and music. The orchestration is more than perfect. The song is too good that I am wordless.

I Love My India. A Patriotic Song. Very rarely found in NS’s album. The singing is good and a special tune which is very ear pleasant. Being a Patriotic song it became the sweet heart of the nation. The song has another version which is exclusive by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Chorus. A well executed and polished song again.

Theme of Pardes. As I said already this is unusual album from NS. So as a continuation of the wonderful compilation with some wonderful tunes and some outstanding music the album closes with an instrumental which includes a part of Bhaghan and some part of meri mehbooba. One of the masterpieces.

Final Words

The album is so successful that it won a screen award as well in the presence of other goodies like Dil To Pagal Hai and Yes Boss. You must have this album if you are a music lover.

ANOTHER BLOCK BUSTER BY -...

Subhash Ghai for the first time shifts gears from his tried and tested music directors Laxmikant Pyarelal to Nadeem Shravan. And it seems a good move.

The album gets a good start with ‘Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain’. Acoustic guitar strumming one set of notes and the hum of a pre-recorded keyboard bass keeps the ear soothed and relaxed to perfection. Add a Kumar Sanu voice to the words penned by Anand Bakshi and you have a winner.

‘Meri Mehbooba’ is another good number – slow and melodious. The song has good music, great instrumentals and good vocalists except when Alka Yagnik does a take on Beatles with ‘Oh Bloody, Oh Blooda’ in the middle of the song. Eliminate that, and you have a chart topper.

‘Diwana Dil’ has a good build up – Shankar Mahadevan is brilliant with his background pakad . Hema Sardesai has a great opera’sque pitch. It’s very difficult to touch those notes in an Indian song- with quintessential Indian rhythms and not sound jarring- or painfully shrill.

On the other hand, ‘I Love India’ has ridiculous lyrics at the very start which spoil the effect of what could have otherwise turned out to be decent number. The track sounds like a not-so- heady concoction of a nursery rhyme, a composition by a New York orchestra and a jugalbandi between a drum, a sitar and a dufli. Don’t fall over yourself to grab a listen. The other version is a better rendition by Kavita Krishnamurthy.

‘Jahan Piya Wahan Main’ is ethnic and sounds like a few of the sounds Subhash Ghai has used in some of his earlier films in the build up. Then suddenly the music changes over to a rather nice beat, but Chitra’s piercing voice seems a bad choice, for a number so mild. One must give due credit though to Nadeem Shravan, for the music switches are very innovative.

The Title Music initially sounds like a mammoth music band warming up for a fiery performance. And that isn’t always a pleasing sound. You get impatient waiting for some trace of the music- then amidst birds chirping Sapna Awasthi sings pure folk followed by the piano rendition of ‘Meri Mehbooba’. It’s essentially a very confused amalgamation. At the end of it all you wish the band had practiced elsewhere!

‘My First Day In U.S.A’ sounds as American as Subhash Ghai can get. The one thing that strikes the ear is Hema Sardesai with just the right accent. Not pretentious and definitely not the born-in-India-confused-in-America kind of sound. But bad music doesn’t make this good stuff to listen to.

‘Nahi Hona Tha’ starts off with a qawwali. A qawwali with a hint of the I Love India rhythm creeping in. Hema Sardesai is quite good with the folk vocals.

All said and done, this isn’t bad music, with an absolutely outstanding opening track that is Kumar Sanu’s best till date! A decent pick-up.
