''Oregon'', is one of those lesser known US states 'n is situated between the sunshine state of California 'n the evergreen state of Washington. This state unlike its neighbouring states is known more for its wilderness 'n natural beauty. This revu concentrates mainly on the north-western region adjoining Washington state ,along the beautiful ''Columbian River gorge''.

Portland:

This is one of the major cities of this region 'n known as the ''City of Roses'',mainly bcoz of the many rose gardens in the city, with the poular one being the ''Rose Garden''. It is also a good place to shop especially like in huge shopping malls like ''Lloyd's Centre'','n also many ppl in the bordering Washington prefer to come here ,bcoz of its duty free shopping out here. The famous Portland Univ is the most preferred destination among Indian students to pursue post-graduation like MS.

The Gorge:

The mighty ''Columbian river'' divides this state from its neighbouring Washington ,'n the long stretch along the trails of this river is a popular hiking ,surfing 'n picnicing spot for seattle 'n portland urban yuppies 'n this region is full of campers with huge trail trucks backpacked with surf boards, bicycles, fishing euipment, skiing etc etc. A top notch scenic drive among these dense pine forest, canyons, cliffs 'n huge boulders with steep mountain on one side 'n the deep river gorge on other is really a gr8 pleasure.Infact this long stretch called ''Columbia River Highway Scenic Byway ''is recommended as a must ,for enjoying the pleasure of pure driving .This area is full of log cabin restaurants overlooking the river 'n never forget to sip St.Michelle which is one of the finest wines of this region. Some of the famous waterfalls along the trails where u can stop by r Multnomoah falls (dropping down by nearly 600+ ft) 'n silver cascade.

Mt Hood: is a snow capped majestic 110000+ feet high dormant volcanic mountain 'n forms a beautiful backdrop for the gorge. The ''Panorma point'' along highway 35 gives a panormic view of the surrounding orchids along river Hood (also called ''windsurfing capital of US'' ) 'n the peak of this mountain 'n its surrounding. In winter this is an ideal skiing resort with the beautiful wooden Timberline lodge acting as a historic vintage hotel .This lodge is located at ht of 7000 ft 'n built with huge wooden logs 'n consists of huge fire places inside to ward off ur chill 'n gives a incredible aerial view of the surrounding alpine region.

Crater lake : is located somewhat in the central Oregon 'n is the most famous visiting site. This lake is indeed ,formed at the mouth of a collapsed volcanic peak 'n is one of the deepest lake in US.Its higlighing feature is its crystal clear blue sparkling water. The surrounding area around this crate is now a national park.

Beaches:

There r innumerable number camping sites in beaches of this rocky pacific coastline. These beaches r sprinkled with historic lighhouses ,'n some of 'em r still functional even today. The stretch between Lincholn city 'n Florence is most famous 'n a bit crowded in summers 'n is blisfully gorgeous .

So if u r in nearby Washington state do hit this trail.....

There are many places to go and see if you go to Oregon.

Oregon is known as Gods Country because of the greenery. Oregon is a wet climate so it is not hard to keep the grass green here.

Oregon has many scenic attractions. There is Crater Lake, which is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It is impossible to describe the beauty of the blue water. You have to see it for yourself.

Oregon has many beaches. The two most popular are Seaside and Lincoln City. Seaside is a tourist attraction where you can rent skates and skate around the board walk. There are many things there for children as well as adults to do. Seaside is a spring break attraction for the teenagers.

There are many outlet stores in Oregon now. Since there is no sales tax here, it is a good state to stock up on things that you need at a good price.

The Columbia River Gorge is another scenic attraction for sightseers. There is wind surfing at Hood River which has become a popular past time for people here.

Mount Hood is the perfect place to go skiing in Oregon. This is where some of the Olympic team trained. There is almost always snow on Mount Hood and there is a beautiful lodge up there. Timberline lodge. It is old but beautiful and unique.

There is something for everyone in Oregon.
