I had purchased a body fat monitor (HBF-362) 18 months back.
Recently the body fat monitor (HBF-362)developed a display problem. No display to be precise. Upon taking it to the dealer from whom I had purchased (Alpride health service, Chennai), Alpride Healthcare Pvt Ltd

I was told that these products are non serviceable and not repairable after the 1 year guarantee period. But I was offered a new piece at a reduced price. I had paid a premium for the Omron products and had expected some after sales service for these products beyond the 1 year guarantee period.

The reason for going thru all the mailers and follow up with Omron stemmed from the belief that Omron being a premium brand/product, would help in resolving my case, which was not available with the dealer (Alpride Health care).
After 2 months of intense follow up with their head office in Gurgaon and their local representative (Mr.KK) in Chennai.Mr.KK echoed the dealers view. I was told that the dealer is unwillingly to repair or replace the item.But I can buy a new one at a special price.
Upon expressing my dissatisfaction, I was apprised on the futility of pursuing this issue any further with the head office.
This has been a very disappointing experience to say the least, I am not looking for an freebies or any dole-outs from Omron, but wanted to get the product repaired or replaced at a reasonable cost, like any other premium product.
As mentioned earlier I was happy with the product.(I also own a Omron pedometer, thermometer and BP monitor.)But being forced by the dealer and their staff to buy a new product within a period of 18 months is really disappointing.
Further to this after persistent follow ups i had gotten the unit repaired at a nominal cost (rs.800/-). This exercise took me close to 10 months, but nevertheless was worth it, since i was very happy with the product. Wanted to highlight the fact that omron products have after sales support after 1 year is not too good.
If a problem arises with your product, after the warranty period, they will direct you to buy the same product from the same dealer.
