I know a lot of people will be surprised by this rating and maybe my case was a one-off, but I still wanted to share my experience.
I made a reservation for dinner for 2 people in the morning and when we got there, the hostess informed us that no indoor tables were free and we could only get a table outside. I thought the point of making a reservation was that they would "reserve" a table for the guest at the specified time.
Anyway, we sat outside and noticed that they had a stand with burning coal in the middle of the outdoor space. I was feeling a bit chilly and my friend asked if the coal stand could be moved closer to our table. The staff member said that couldn't be done since they didn't have stands for each individual table and so it was kept in the middle for all. We said fine. After 5 minutes, a table with a larger group asked for the stand to be moved closer to them and 2 members of the staff moved it closer to their table.
Within 15-20 minutes, each table had its own individual coal stand. We didn't ask for it again. We were given water just once during the dinner and no one came to refill our glass again. We asked for one dish to be packed and they got the order wrong.
As you can imagine, after such a bad experience we were in no mood to leave any tip for the staff but the bill came with a 10% service charge and 4.95% service tax. We asked for the manager because we said we only wanted to pay the food bill and taxes but no service charge because we had a very bad experience. The so-called manager (who I think was just another waiter) listened to our story, apologized and said that he would take care of it. The waiter comes back with my credit card charged with the whole amount.
Needless to say, we will not be going back to the restaurant, despite the great location, great ambiance and good food.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
