Teachers with zero experience are hired who leave school midway academic year. Great policies of training teachers but none followed in practice.

Bullying is rampant in school. Very arrogant attitude of management. All feedback to improve school is ignored. The school is deteriorating every year. Focus is only on new admissions and how to make more money.

The only good thing is IB curriculum, but with no training in IB, teachers are not able to execute it.

I would like to share my views on Oakridge  Bangalore

We first visited the school a year back for an event organized for kids aged 3-6. The event was good. Kids and parents were impressed.They had spent a lot of money on the event. As our child was in a very good preschool we were not in hurry to move him to a regular school.Our first impression of the school was " They spend a lot of money on advertising". Whether its on paper, bill boards or events the money they spent is huge.

Our recent visit and the last visit to the school was today. We went to en-quire about the curriculum and admission process. A representative from the administrative block informed us that we need to take prior appointment and get the kid along, finish the procedure and need to finalize on the same day. We told her we would bring the kid for our next visit as he is in school and we will get him if we like the school and can afford the fee.

She was skeptical to take things forward but informed us that she would fix a appointment and do what best she can. After about 30 min she asks as to sit in a cabin and informed us elementary coordinator would meet us. The elementary coordinator did come and asked us to leave if we were not happy with the procedures followed.(like bringing the kid along  finishing all the formalities in a single day. That was our only concern)

That is it. She had no manners, no time to speak just asked us to leave. And we did do exactly that.

When they are so many schools to choose from, we did not think we need to stoop to her level and argue or talk to her further.

We left not disappointed but happy and feeling relaxed that our kid will never be a part of this school.

By the time we reached home they had called the Principal of the preschool( the best one) and apologized for their behavior.The school my son attended mainly focuses on "CHARACTER  BUILDING". I don't think I have to write more as it is self explanatory.

Would not recommend this school to any of my friends, relatives, neighbors.

On reaching office later part of the day and going about our jobs(we recruit people to IT, BPO and pharma companies) the HR head who was conducting interview was discussing the bad attitude some candidates have towards their job. This got us into a conversation and  we discussed the similar issue we faced today in this school.

Bad attitude takes us no where.

We got transferred from Hongkong to Bangalore and I was in a total dilemma as to which school would be good. And where there are so many International schools in Bangalore, we were utterly confused on which to choose. However, one of my friends recommended me to Oakridge where both of her children studies there. We visited the school, understood the admission process and the methodologies of how IB is being taught in class and many other details.

This is the second year that we are associated with the school, and my son Pratik is in MYP2(7th grade) and I am really happy with the way teachers teach, the quality of education and the always available administration team. The facilities and infrastructure match up to the student's needs and helps in the overall development holistically.

Yes, there have been few gaps as any other school does, however, the management has always been approachable for any query. They have the patience to listen to the issues that we face and believe in solving at the earliest and from the root.

Overall, we are happy and satisfied with the school partnering with the parents for the growth of every single child.

My daughter  has been with the Oakridge international school since last 3 years. So far it has been a good decision. The academic  program is geared for collaborative learning . The  initial years, (EYP & PYP)  it is very different from routine schools, given that the  children do not have a  fixed curriculum or  books to follow.  the children learn by self exploration and sharing knowledge among teachers  and  fellow classmates.

The PYP students(my daughter is in grade II) have a Home Room teacher(HRT) who facilitate their learning. The HRTs help in pacing the learning for each child.   I have seen how the school has encouraged my daughter  to become more  curious and  expressive in her queries and answers.

One  of the important  milestone  in Oakridge  Calendar is the Student Led Conference . The students(even the PPII and grde 1)  prepare portfolios  highlighting the  work they have done in the academic year. They present it  to the  visiting parents and guardians. Often, in these meetings I have realized  how some of the  mundane principles we have learnt by rote are  now being taught to our children in a very different and effective way.

In general also the school endeavors to take care of the child in best possible ways.

We are so glad that we made this decision to move our daughter to Oakridge from a school where CBSE curriculum was followed. We were initially skeptical about the change in curriculum to IB(PYP, Class 2) but ultimately the transition(both at school and curriculum) looked so easy for her and for us. She loves the school and is always happy to go to school every morning.

School has a great infrastructure which fosters holistic development of the kids. Teachers are very dedicated and has the right balance of being strict and friendly.

Teachers to student ratio is very good, kids get the personal attention that they deserve and there is a right level of parents engagement too. Over all its been a very good experience for us.

Great school, highly effective teachers who goes above and beyond for their students The focus of the school is not only on academic excellence but also on all-round development of students. My experience with the school has been amazing .kids enjoy going to school. Highly recommended this school

I moved my son from an Indian school to Oakridge in grade 1. He could not fit into the Indian system well as he would get bored easily(he was well ahead of class in reading but hated writing.) and was "physically present and mentally absent" according to the teacher. But he blossomed in Oakridge. There was individual attention and the interactive and theme based PYP philosophy worked wonders. He started writing also as there was more creativity in the homework than repetition and he enjoyed it. Almost all the primary teachers are very experienced and passionate. Overall, I am very happy with the school and I have enrolled my second kid as well.

It's a great school. My kid has been studying in this school for the past five years and we are very happy with the school. The teachers are very friendly with the kids and approachable to parents.The teaching methods are very practical. School gives equal importance to extra curricular activities as well as sports.

The school really follows all the norms and standard of IB curriculum. The extra curricular activities and events conducted at school are great. My kid is in Pp1 and I am truly satisfied with teachers, environment and safety followed at school. Great

Getting admission in a good school is the biggest challenge in recent days. When we moved to Bangalore from Pune we were totally confused about our son's admission in a school. Apparently all the schools looked fine but to get the best out of it was a big challenge for us. Finally through my colleague's recommendation we got connected to Oakridge. As we say that the first impression is the last impression, that implies to this case as well. Our son was very much excited to see the school premises and so we were to see the world class amenities which an international school should have. Later, we realized not only infrastructure but the teachers and staff of the schools are really doing commendable job.

Our son loves Oakridge and he feels happy to go to school. That is the main thing we were looking for. A kid should enjoy school and be happy.

It is so nice to see the staff identifying the real talents of the students and when the children achieve a desired award or win in any field of sports or academics. The school makes them the heroes of the day and sends out a congratulations mailer to entire Community. A proud moment for the parents too. Me as a parent is involved with the success story of my child. Also would like to mention the Parents are on Board of Association are given a chance to share the parents perspective in crucial decisions of the school . They partner with parents to develop not only the school but also the kids growth holitically. Kudos to the School Philosophy.

My son's been a part of Oakridge for the last two years. I am very happy with the curriculum and the way it is delivered. There is a lot of overall growth and development I have seen in my son and I am grateful to his teachers for this:) They also have a lot of activities that the children are exposed to very early on and leads to holistic learning.

Ms. Boney and Mr. Arjun Rao have been extremely passionate about being educationists over a decade. The amazing teachers guide the students in learning the treasure within their talents. The infrastructure adds to the beauty of the ambiance which makes my child feel good. Above all the peer group are from highly educated families which as a parent leaves me at peace. I am happy about the innovative methodology the school adapts to. Few hiccups here and there which I am sure every school will have. Wish the entire school management a truly rewarding year 2016.

My daughter, a 4th grader at Oakridge Bengaluru,  has been creating and growing a garden of organic veggies in discarded bottles. The first produce from her garden- Methi and Coriander, just got ready! The other veggies( tomatoes, ridged gourd, Roselle leaves) are also coming up well. She plans on selling these and wants to donate the money raised to help underprivileged kids.

She is inspired from the lessons that she has learnt in school to reuse and recycle instead of just throwing the bottles away. I am happy to see her applying the lessons she has learnt in school in her daily life. Hope this inspiration stays with her and she continues to work on such projects. She absolutely loves going to the school everyday and doesn't want to miss it even for a single day. The school has a good balance of academics as well as extra-curricular activities.

Love for Learning

Our Son . has made leaps and bounds academically, and socially. He is safe, appreciated by his teachers and peer group, He is a happy go lucky child with the kind of environment that enhances his interests towards the school. If the child's interest is tapped in the right direction, I am sure his skill set will be well defined and he will himself realize his potential. I am extremely happy how the teachers are capitalizing on their potentials and giving them a platform to showcase their talents.

As a parent I feel Oakridge is doing its best in incorporating the child's love for learning for realistic life.

I was recommended by one of the colleagues at my workplace regarding Oakridge Bangalore when I was transferred from Mumbai where my kids where studying in one of the top International Schools. After hearing the upsetting news of kids getting molested and abused, we were very much concerned about their safety and security.

Here at Oakridge, I have been given an assurance of not being worried about the kids. I have been hearing bad reviews about the transport system but luckily the route driver and the lady guard who are assigned for our kids' daily transport are really responsible.

Fees is a matter of concern where they are charging too much.

I am one of the happiest parents of this school where both our kids have got adjusted well with the new environment. Last year shifted from US and the choice of school was our biggest concern. After checking out almost every IB School in Bangalore I finally decided to get my kids here because,

Before taking admission in Oakridge Bangalore, I had visited quite many schools. Since I was strictly looking for ICSE Curriculum for my kid, Oakridge International does not have ICSE Syllabus. They have IB, IGCSE and CBSE Curriculum as per our discussion we had with the admission counselor.

I really liked the concept that they go through. And now since my kid is currently studying over there, I have seen a huge progress on his part.

Positives -

Very huge infrastructure, spacious for kids to play and have their own time.

The teachers, the Headmistress and the administration team are approachable.

Negatives -

Distance: it is really really far away from Banashankari.

Fees: And as per the fees concerned, yes it is pretty high(but can be considered).

But overall, I liked it since my kid loves it.:)

I like Oakridge because I find my kid very secure and he loves the school environment.

The teachers are very nice with their students. I can see great changes in my kids towards learning. They dont pressurize the kids for studies.

The way of teaching is amazing. Coz teacher are well trained.Also I have attended parents orientation program that give a picture of how much teachers knowledgeable.

If any parents are looking for a school for international learnings, this school could be a good choice.

ABOUT SCHOOL:

BAD ABOUT OAKRIDGE:

-The ladyguards are not that good in communication. all should speak English at least if it is an International school.

-Fees is high but education wise. OK

-it is in so remote location.
