My long time dream of owning a DSLR fulfilled with Nikon D5500 with AFP-DX-18-55 kit VR lens. before zeroing my decision with Nikon D5500 I had done lots of research by visiting various sites done technical comparison and used D5200 with AFS-DX-18-55 kit lens and finalized D5500 over Sony A58.

Last month I got this camera on my hand and my first expression was Wow! the ergonomic design and the features impressed me.

Pros:

  1. Built-in Wireless( Wi-fi)

2.Touch Screen

  1. Face Detection Focusing

  2. 24.0MP - High Resolution Sensor

  3. 420g Light Body

    • VR lens with stepper motor

  4. Selfie Friendly LCD Screen Etc.

This is one of the best camera for beginners who normally do lots of mistakes and still expects best pics.

Nikon's smallest and lightest mid-range DSLR

The Nikon D5500 is a considerable improvement over the previous favorite, the Nikon D5300. It directly competes with Canon's EOS 750D. I purchased mine for Rs. 48700 with the 18-140mm VR Kit.

The camera is packed with numerous buttons controlling various aspects of photography. It packs almost everything except the kitchen sink like 24.2 million pixel resolution, APS-C DX CMOS sensor with 3.2 inch touchscreen TFT LCD, pentaprism eyepiece viewfinder and even Wi-Fi connectivity. It comes packed with a Nikkor 18-55mm VRII lens. I also got an additional kit lens, the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140mm. If I am to be critical, it does miss out on an anti-aliasing filter.

The camera has 39 focus points in addition to phase-detection auto-focus and lends to its excellent low-light photography. Despite being tiny, the grips on the camera are good to hold with a simpler mode dial. The LCD screen switches off when the viewfinder is being used thanks to the proximity sensor and is claimed to give 25 percent battery savings.

Due to the Exspeed 4 image processor and 9 different cross-point focus types, pictures can be taken quickly and is a smooth and accurate affair. Using large telephoto lens setup also does not make the camera unruly due to the well-weighted camera body with a low center of gravity. It is the ultimate mid-range DSLR in today's market and an excellent buy. Kindly rate my review and leave your comments. Cheers!
