Each profession has a few professionals, towards whom it’s a general tendency to look down upon. It’s the in-thing basically. Any person failing to comply with this unquoted norm is considered extremely uncool and runs the risk of being ousted as an outcaste.

The subject of my review, Ms Neha Dhupia, is one such film industry professional, who is not looked at upon very highly. In fact, to put it very crudely she is considered, one of the big time sluts of Bollywood. And through this review, I run the risk of being labeled as a “sexual pervert”, since only a sleazy bloke can actually express something positive about her. The good guys are supposed to just jerk off and criticize her “apparent” lack of moral values.

So where do I begin with ..her looks?? Very attractive features and a good curvy body. A figure of 33/24/37, dark brown eyes and an angelic smile provide for a visual treat. Not everyone can be Miss India Universe (2002), after all. For further details please search for her snaps on Internet and decide for yourself. Don’t expect me to spoon feed you about her head to toe details, for I believe beauty isn’t skin deep.

What now -- acting? Good. Very Good. But like I mentioned before, the “great connoisseurs” aren’t supposed to see that. They can see Julie the pr*stitute but it’s inexplicable to see Juliet, the homely girl from small town of Goa who gets thrilled by small pleasures of life -- the golden rays of the sun, the mischievous waves of the sea, the sacredness of the vast church. They can see Julie’s kissing scenes but not Juliet’s vulnerability; who still waits for her Romeo with each passing day despite losing all hope of him ever arriving.

They can blast her for doing a “sleazy” role in Sheesha …and so very conveniently forget the deep enchanting performance given as Ayesha Sheikh in Siskiyaan. These elite class hypocrite morons can moral police against revealing thighs and cleavage but can’t say two words of encouragement for Suhana, the young determined career woman & the loving homemaker of DelhiiHeights**.

Be it the portrayal of a traditional Gujarati girl in Chup Chup Ke, the role of a nagging wife in Shootout at Lokhandwala, or that of a Mumbai street pr*stitute in Ek Chalis ki Last Local; the dedication with which Neha goes about them all, proves her versatility as an actress. One of the most under-rated heroines of the contemporary times, there is an honesty about her work, which not many of her colleagues can boast about.

For you she might be a B-grade sleazy actress. For me she is a lady who is finding her mark in the field of acting (without any Godfather) and doing a remarkable job at it. She may never be the number one actress either on the critics list or at the box office but she’ll definitely carve a special place for herself by the dawn of her career.

Neha Dhupia -- the person ?? Well I don’t know her personally, though I’d love to if the opportunity ever presents itself (wink). Few would know that this 27th August born Virgo girl nurtured the dream of becoming an IAS officer at one point of time. Born in Cochin her nick name is Chotu. A history graduate, she is an ardent lover of sea food. Alchemist is her favorite book and among the movies she likes Bridge Over the River Kwai, Sholay and Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks, Aamir Khan and Julia Roberts happen to be her favorite actors. Does that remind you of someone you already know? The girl-next-door maybe…

For once try and see the Juliet underneath this Julie. There is more to her than raw flesh...

The one thing common between Neha Dhupia and me is our college. In college I remember her as a girl who seldom turned for classes. She has a good height, an amazingly flawless skin and charming disposition. She came in the limelight with Euphoria?s video Shanana. What followed was the Ms. India Crown in 2002 but disappointing performance at the Ms Universe Contest. Then the obvious choice was to become Ms Bollywood. She is one of the few actresses to have a website of her own: https://nehadhupiasite.com.

Having seen her movies, I don?t think she has good acting skills. The first movie she bagged was Qayamat with Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty as her co-stars. Even though the launching pad was the best any newcomer can get but she did not have much to do in it except gain limelight as she appeared in a bikni.

Then came Julie, it was a notorious movie and Neha was categorized under the same genre as actresses like Malika Sherawat. I read some reviews appreciating her acting for Julie though.

In Rakht, Neha again had little to do with a herd of other famous and not-so-famous stars. Even though she might choose to do some more movies with revealing shots, I think she does not have a bright future in Bollywood. I hope she finds an alternative successful and rewarding career soon. I think she will do great as a television VJ.
