Instead of news it gives negetive articles on peoples reigion and community. The main news about Mumvai is way behind in the middle pages. So I suggest you look for a better newspaper than Mumbai mirror if you care about your religion and community.I give MM only one star.

Dont read that for news
Mar 14, 2016 09:14 PM 8617 Views

If your want to read the newspaper for "news" don't buy Mumbai mirror.it looks more like fun-magazine than a news paper. cover story is often some useless news even if there is a big story on TV or other newspapers headlines. I don't know why they repeat same boring stories again and again with full detail even if there is a little update on matter and throw real news somewhere in the middle pages on corner.

I read Mumbai mirror daily just for comics and jokes etc(as it is available in college library) and check out other sources for being updated with news.

You can buy Mumbai Mirror from any local newspaper vendor at Rs. 5/- only. It is totally of about 50 pages.

There are puzzles which are too interesting to solve. There is also interesting article called chai time which I like to read.

Shortest Commodity Reviews: Mumbai mirror

Only supplement of a leading newspaper being sold independently.

At just Rs. 5 Mumbai Mirror brings us the latest Mumbai news, sports encore, latest technology comings, health tips and movie and theatre reviews.

My favorite page is Chai Time, with witty fresh puzzles of different type everyday with that Riddler being the toughest of them. It contains the answers in the same copy so you don’t have to wait for the next day. Almost 50 pages wide this newspaper lacks good quality of English.

They use a big amount of American English which often confuses the reader and plus even use the Mumbai lingo to give it a Mumbaikar feel.

Really, it is a good time-pass newspaper to have at evening when you’re bored from daily chores.

This is comes in small size. This paper can be read easily in trains, buses without interrupting others. The paper covers Mumbai's hot news and news from rest of the world.

Although my favorite part of it Bollywood and Hollywood gossip column and last page "chai time" which has riddles, crosswords and line maro column. its basically a supplement of Times of India but can be bought separately.

They have so many classifieds in the paper and most of them are for call centers.

The price is very very low.

Every second page advertisement.
Apr 24, 2015 05:08 PM 11112 Views (via Mobile)

Mumbai mirror worth 3rs, news to read in paper Zero. Every next page you gonna see is some kind of advertisement given.

I Think all they just make mumbai mirror for. They own earn by putting just ads in it. its better they keep its name ads mirror.

Atleast there should starting 3-4 page with some interesting news in it. So that reaching to last page of it should love to have some time pass playing all the six different game, reading sunsign.

Instead of making mumbai mirror to use as radi only.

Great to Read in Local Trains
Aug 01, 2013 05:11 PM 6062 Views

I am working individual and I have to travel a long time and theres nothing better than to read the news of mumbai every day in local trains while going to the office. The content of Mumbai Mirror is great and covers mostly all the subjects I like to read about.

The size of the paper makes it handy to read it even in the crowds and its better than to look the boring faces of the passengers upset about the volume of people in the train and fighting with each other about giving them space to stand comfortably. The paper covers the headlines, sports, bollywood and horoscope and I am happy and satisfied with it.

The paper is very informative and and a good habit to read and make us familiar with our city and its new events occurring every day.

MUMBAI MIRROR'S CAMPAIGN AGAINST 'ILLEGAL POSTERS'
Feb 23, 2011 04:18 PM 13482 Views

Kudos to Mumbai Mirror !! This newspaper is truly our very Own Mumbaikar Newspaper ! I really wish they could start editions in other states also……so that people in other Cities also can enjoy this daily edition. And I think Mumbai Mirror is also our MS Media Partners……that makes it even more special !!

This newspaper not only gives us all the hot & sweet news but also in a large way, takes up many a Social Cause & try to solve the problems faced by us, Mumbaikars. That is truly a Noble Spirit of Mumbai Mirror publication.

Before I go to tell U all about their latest Success Mission, let me tell U about one of their real heart warming noble work, they did some few years back. A baby was found abandoned in a small wooden box on the footbridge of a railway station. No one knew anything about the baby’s family & he was taken to the nearby hospital. Mirror’s journalists took up this case in such a remarkable manner & gave huge publicity for days on this baby issue, & they called the baby ‘The Box Baby’. The baby was real cute & they gave real superb photos of the same in the paper & requested the public to help the baby. And U won’t believe, people were so taken up with the baby’s cute pics & the heart-warming requests & write-ups of Mumbai Mirror, that the hospital finally got a family to adopt the baby. I think many people cried with joy, that day, when the baby was adopted.

Besides this story, there many more such articles where Mumbai Mirror has helped so many poor & needy people or any child-maid being harassed by their employers. Thanks to Mumbai Mirror, many unfortunate, tormented, abandoned people have got help from the the public & their lives have changed for the better. Wish they were Noble Prizes for Newspapers……Mumbai Mirror wud have won it Positively!!

Mumbai Mirror’s latest Hit Campaign has been “NO CHAMCHAGIRI ON OUR WALLS PLS”. It is about the issue to fight determinedly against corrupt politicians defacing the city of Mumbai.

Mumbai Mirror, had recently launched a new Campaign of ‘Keeping Mumbai Clean’. Though BMC & the Police Department & other Institutions & Media supported the cause….we Mumbaikars still have many more pot-holes to be filled & many more drains to be cleaned !!! But a new form of Dirtying the City had happened slowly & has grown so much, that today it is a major Menace to the citizens of Mumbai.

Political parties have started Modelling!! Honestly !! They must have figured out, that if people see how (horribly) handsome they look, then maybe they’ll get more Votes !!

These party members also want publicity, why only the Main Leader of the Party shud get all the attention……so the ‘Chamchas’ as Mumbaikars refers to them as, get their Portfolios done up by Professional Photographers & for some pretext of a Birthday or a Festive Day, they will print Flex Banners with their photographs & write Wishes & Praises to the Party Chief.

When it is a Religious festival also, they put up their photographs of themselves along-side the Sacred Deity of that Festival. How can they be so Dis-Respectful to the Divine God / Goddess by putting their faces next to the Divine Deity’s Image on a banner ??? So much they want ‘publicity’, that they try to stand in line with GOD ???

Almost every street, highway, signal in Mumbai is ‘Cluttered’ with these types of Banners, with faces & faces of these party members. And U must see some of them, ‘Pose’ so well with nicely colored hair & perfect ‘Dental Cosmetic’ smiles !!! Eeeeeeks Its So Infuriating !! I myself, feel like climbling up & ripping off those banners!!

Infact when Mumbai Mirror launched this Fantastic Campaign, they were helped by our renowned ex-cricketer Mr. Sanjay Manjrekar. To make fun of these posters, Mumbai Mirror put up posters of Sanjay Manjrekar thanking his gardener as ‘spoof’ of their ugly, illegal posters. But it did not help that much. So after a week & more protest campaigns, Mumbai Mirror & Mr. Sanjay Manjrekar, got the BMC of Mumbai to draft a Policy on Illegal Hoardings in the city.

Mr. Subodh Kumar, the BMC chief stated in his policy plan the following;

  1. No hoardings will be allowed on roads measuring 60 feet, cross roads, traffic junctions, water storage tanks, public toilets, trees, electric poles, 25 meters around traffic islands, railway stations, bus stops, flyovers, gardens & religious places.

  2. Ward officers wud be held responsible if anyone violates hoarding rules in their respective areas.

  3. All Legal posters will have to place a copy of the certificate with the place name & permission number. Any poster which does not carry it will be removed & the errant ward staff concerned wud be punished.

The Campaign is doing pretty well & have ridded many south Mumbai places of the ugly ‘Chamchagiri’ Political Posters. Mr. Sanjay Manjrekar who has been the force behind this campaign has urged the BMC Authorities & Mumbaikars to keep up the job of cleaning up Mumbai & stopping this dirty defacing of this wonderful city Mumbai.

I really wish I too cud do something to contribute, in helping this Campaign, like there are still so many Party strong areas in Mumbai which are still plagued with ugly political chamchagiri posters. I was thinking of phoning the concerned ward authorities & telling them the locations, where those ugly posters are pasted.

But my family has objected severely on me doing any such thing, as Mumbai Political Parties are as efficient as the Underworld Kingdom here. So, my dad told me “Cattie, U better not interfere & join in this campaign…U don’t know…if any of the political leaders or their chamchas get to know that one ‘Ordinary, Not So Famous, simple Mumbaikar’, is joining the protest, they will come into our homes & shoot us all….(like they show in movies !!).

I protested & said “If everyone is going to think of their safety & get scared of these DONS & Political party members, then how are we going to Improve our City & Our Country?”. Dad then said “Cattie…they will catch u & take u somewhere & torture u to death….then what will we do, without our Cattie”. Oh…!Here comes Emotional Blackmail….!!

So now I decided…I’ll put up this Decision to my MSian Friends (including Faisal, Caretaker & Vicks)…….Tell my guys !! Do U think as an Individual, I can protest & help in this Campaign of ‘Clean Mumbai of Chamchagiri Posters’??..Or is it risky to my life?? I don’t know whether I wud get a proper & Right answer from U all, so let’s think…!! If I, someday feel real wild & get up & tear down one ‘Chamchagiri Political Banner’…..& then, if som eye witness, informs the Political Party Chamchas……& they decide that ‘Cattie has to be killed !!!!!’………& if they get to me……….& “bang ! bang !”……….I’m dead……!

Well, I’m not so worried about that…because I wud not mind laying down my life for Justice & for My Country’s Welfare.

Mirrored Mumbai
Nov 06, 2009 01:42 PM 7985 Views

Mirrored Mumbai I personally changed my newspaper from Hindustan times to Times of India just because it involves the Mumbai Mirror. It’s got a hell lot of information which is not covered in any other newspaper. Whether it’s a job search, or be it a just wanting to know more of Ur city Mumbai, it has it all.

It was the talk of the town when it initially got published. I find the paper very informative and  easy to locate information. Was immensely surprised when I checked the reviews on mouth shut. Don’t really know why its not liked by many people. Its got so much to read especially if you like reading.

Despite all the comments, I will still continue reading it as always. The paper should run till the time Mumbai is running.. Love Mumbai Love Mumbai Mirror…. Get all the latest and updated news only on that paper.

"Reflection" of Mumbai
Jul 21, 2008 12:10 PM 9007 Views

On the basis of the info I received, I beleive that this daily newspaper began in Mumbai on the 29th of August,2005 in the Gateway of India. It was launched by Abhishek Bachchan, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh as well as the Managing Director(MD) Vineet Jain. Since then,Mumbai Mirror has been the talk of the tow.Initially, this newspaper was offered for free to all subscribers of 'Times of India' for a period of six months. It was then charged Rs 1.50 for sometime & then today it is sold for Rs 2 per copy.

Mumbai Mirror , like other newspapers has been divided into various sections -- City,Mumbai talking,Nation,World,Sport,Sci-tech,Views,You,Food,Entertainment,Films,Variety,C
lassifieds & Chai-Time
. Each column/section specifies exclusively in news related to these articles. The journalists often give a detailed description of the news in each of these sections, with big & bold headings to capture the reader's attention. The public also are given a chance to pen down their opinions as well as reviews in the Mumbai Talking as well as in the Views column. Sci-tech gives articles regarding the latest scientific discovery or invention in any part of the world. You often speaks of personal relationships & advisory tips for maintaining such relations. Entertainment & Films section speaks of the latest Bollywood & television news, reviews, gossip, scandals & more. However, unnecessary & unwanted news & scandals regarding films & television can turn off the mood of the reader, since they get an overdose of it everyday.

Variety section speaks about theatre plays as well as musical concerts currently happening throughout Mumbai city.Classifieds(as we all know) are about jobs, education, courses, degrees, etc.

Chai-Timeis all about paper games such as Soduku,Crosswords, word search & other games, astrology, comics as well as jokes.

Overall, for just Rs 2 per copy, this newspaper is a great package in itself & more than worth it.

MUMBAI India
Muddled Mirror
Jul 27, 2007 11:21 AM 8576 Views

Yes it is a Muddled Mirror, **a poor copy of Mid-Day at the

best and a cut-paste of TOI without spelling & grammar check. The

publishers of this tabloid advertise it as "a cut above the rest",

which actually a cut for the worst. Whatever they may say but the **origin of

Mumbai Mirror was more of a marketing gimmick rather than anything else**,

definitely not for the news.

When Hindustan Times decided to invade the TOI

bastion - Mumbai and another Newspaper DNA was about to be launched, then TOI

guys came with this hazy mirror. **Their ideas was a very old marketing strategy

  • "if you can not convince them then confuse them"**. The launch of

Mumbai Mirror was meant to confuse the readers & confuse the market, it is

called creating confusion in the market so that target segment is confused with

the new names and as a resultant they stick with their old product that is TOI.

And it still comes free with TOI; they can not dare to sell it separately. I don’t

have much idea that whether they have succeeded in stopping the new entrants

from snatching any significant market share from TOI.

Coming on the product offering** - Mumbai Mirror is a back to back copy of the

same news published in Times Of India with just a few pages shuffled here and

there and more advertisement / classified pages added to give it a thick look.

You come on the contents and you will witness that spelling errors &

grammatically funny sentences are the regular feature of this tabloid. Can’t

they just use a spell checker? Or they just don’t want to waste any time

(definitely not any money) on it.

Y*ou talk about editorial and this tabloid

does not have any such word in their vocabulary**. Never expect any quality or

original reporting from this tabloid, even entertainment news are copy from

elsewhere & from TOI Mumbai Times supplement. I am sure the publishers know

it very well that no one would buy this product on its own, and readers only

look at the paper because it comes along with TOI, good we can get a few extra

bucks while selling our monthly accumulation to "raddiwala".

Times group looses humanity ?
Jul 03, 2007 12:34 PM 9597 Views

Im referring to this -https://mumbaimirror.com/net/mmpaper.aspx?page=article§id=15&contentid=2007
07030239125468859e591#

Recently, a guy stabbed a girl, Sushma Nikam, in full view of public in Mumbai. Times group carried the story in "The times of India" as well as "The Mumbai mirror". But what really shameful of them was publishing the picture of the crime which shows the wounded girl, soaked in blood and the attacker behind her.

Times group then goes ahead and publishes an article today, with the heading

"Mumbai has become a city of eunuchs". They raise a voice against the public, who did nothing to help the badly wounded girl. Fair enough BUT

What are they(The times group) then? What was  their photographer doing? All he wanted to do was get money and clicked the picture. Why didnt he step in to stop the attacker or help the badly wounded girl, who yesterday succumbed to her injuries.

If the times group say he wasnt their photographer, then why did they even use the gory picture? For more readers? Can such a reputed publishing house fall so low? Can they loose all humanity for money/readership?

Its disgusting to see all this happening in our country. Public does nothing to help a girl, who kept bleeding for over 10mins. The cops have still not taken any action. And the papers keeps repeating the picture(in the print as well as online edition). I feel ashamed to be part of the same industry - journalism.

Imagine the plight of her parents when they must have seen the picture of their daughter all soaked in blood. its shameful times group

Im running the topic at three places: bunnypunia.blogspot.com, https://xbhp.com/talkies/showthread.php?t=13150 and https://team-bhp.com/forum/street-experiences/25883-times-group-loses-humanity
-money.html

Lets cut the crap!
Jan 12, 2007 06:19 PM 7325 Views

....that, along with many "cuts" is mumbai mirror's advertising headline.....

I dunno how but ...times, when publishing this tabloid were putting a risk on their already dimnishing image....how everyone if not liking this one would just put away TOI too....but then something about the tabloid clicked with the average mumbaikar..like me.... and then it just shot up in a city with few tabloids namely midday and afternoon.....

This was a paper which was like a local voice of people...pointing out a problem in every nook and corner of the city...how it could be solved and who is responsible...., this daring attitude won the accolades as it got many problems fixed in neighbourhoods previously over lokked by authorirties....like the shanties near grant road station..where drug dealing was rampant....now theres  plants instead of dirty shanties wih its occupants attending nature's call on the road.....these small differences are many in number.

Now may think why is this paper not professional in some cases....? well no ones perfect....in case of a slow news day we have a bollywood gossip staring out of the first page....

TOI is good but not an option for the young  and 20-30s aged people.....many of them have started out with it and still cant do without it.....why....simple......

Coz Mumbai Mirror cuts the crap...really...the politics and all the other insights of the story and giving it you in  a way that u know how its affects YOU.....that why I liked it.....there was how I or other fellow citizens would be affected and then the political and legal part of it.....some of us young people cannot handle complexities of some things....the to-the-point approacg works nicely

And they cover everything from City to Nation to Sci-Fi to Leisure to Lifestyle to Telivision and Gossip.....

they tell us whats new and what good it is for us.....

ITs a paper in which even if you browse thru the pages you'll know of the goings on...if u dont have time to read through the full thing...

SOme things like movie listings page with promotional posters and cinema names and timings are lacking....i hope thats rectified soon..

I'll just keep reading...cos its free with TOI hehe

Handbill sold as a Newspaper
Oct 30, 2006 08:25 PM 8400 Views

It is a handbill in the form of a newspaper meant to sell substandard goods to gullible customers.

One is tempted to avail special price for Mumbai Mirrior readers. When the cheque is paid there is no further communication or sign of the material. You will then start asking for the item purchased. They have located their complaints office somewhere in corner of Delhi and not Mumbai. People on the phone where you had booked order act helpless.

If you get refund after contacting Delhi you are really lucky as you will know below--

If you thought you were lucky as the goods reached you after several follow ups, think twice. They are made in such a way that they barely survive warranty period. One piece will fail just within warranty and when it gets over another component gives way.

Although the paper is given free or with minimum price , the cost is high considering the money you lost by purchasing substandard goods.

News items are without depth and editorial are nonexistent. Do you need an editorial for a handbill?

Like warning on cigarette packs there should be one below each special offer "Purchasing goods under this scheme is injurious to your mental and financial Health"

Layout is OK for reading advertisements. The paper is good for raddi.Overall net gain negative due to loss on items purchased.

Bored of supplements!!
Feb 09, 2006 12:12 PM 7236 Views

Admit it everyone, Times of India has far too many supplements in Mumbai. Bombay Times, Rouge, Downtown Plus and Times Drive to name but a few. And now here comes another one offering compulsive reading everyday. Mumbai Mirror falls flat on its face as far as I know.

The newspaper is not-too-colourfull and offers little in the way of national news. Other than the first two three pages, this newspaper has nothing to interest a reader. The internatonal section and paparazzi affairs ashould be covered in Bombay Times, but they find a place here as well.

The sports page is lacklustre- nothing special. This newspaper is a huge disappointment considering the reputation of its parent daily- Times of India. DO NOT READ THIS DAILY UNLESS ANYTHING ELSE IS UNAVAILABLE!!! Tjis is simply an add-on and is not required at all.

Other English dailies like MID-DAY and HINDUSTAN TIMES make for better reading.

Mumbai India
Be careful when you purchase any product offered
Feb 08, 2006 04:20 PM 7509 Views

Be careful when you purchase any product offered under their advertisement of daily offers.

As they sale these product to you but when you are supplied a faulty product there is no one to listen to you, as the simple excuse they make is the item was supplied buy the supplier and we will call you, and that's it. There is no call from them; they treat you like a bagger.

I had purchased a ''Touch Panel Caller ID Speaker Phone'' with a free Organizer. I was supplied the product, but it was with scratch mark (on The Phone) as if it has been used before. The same was reported to them and they assured me that the complain will be attended in 24 hours. I followed repeated complains but they seems to be list worried. At last I got the nos. of complain department in Delhi office some place called Gudgeon. I called there for more than 15 times in a span of 3 Days, but the amazing part is that the operator after listening to me use to transfer my line to some extension which was ideal and after holding for 5 minutes I had to disconnect, now she new my numbers she Immediately transfers me to that ideal extension. Than I stopped calling them as the cost of My Phone had already increased by over 25% and profited with vest of time and energy.

So my advice is please be careful before you purchase any product from this jumbo discount add on Mumbai Mirror, and if you do order something please do check the product properly before you are cheated, cz once you pay them there is no one who listens to you and I have my doubts about the offered Guarantee.

What is this ????
Jan 05, 2006 04:01 PM 6746 Views

Hey ppl...

What is going on ...thats what I would say if I were to comment on mumbai mirror.......Times was not expected to do this .............

Initially it was not cumpulsory to by mirror but now it has raise the paper price of Times of india by adding the crap with it...............I mean why ????????????? why ?????????????

If ppl wanna buy it keep it different......why force it..........This is really pathetic also the mirror paper is nothin but crap I mean for main Times suppilement readers its no use may be youths an gossip readers wanna take a look at it and it give a lot of ''Raddi '' as I see it...... ...........but I say keep it different and reduce the original Times of India price to its initial price....or it will surely affect the position of Times in market as I see it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats all I hav to say I really respect time some of its suppliments like ET are ground breaking but they fail to make a mark in mirror ....It wasnt at all needed or may be they could launch it as a full page 3 totally colourful an graphical and also a bit high priced say 4 or 5 bucks paper saying mumbai spice or something ...sure they will get some buyers independently.......

But with Times of india ....a big no no..........

Bombay India
Mumbai Mirror - Out to con its readers!
Nov 18, 2005 03:40 PM 7842 Views

Mumbai Mirror is one of the crappiest and most irresponsible papers I've ever come across. They run a section called ''R u in the Pic'' in their Chai-Time Section, and they promise Rs 500 worth of gift vouchers for whosoever's picture they print.

I was quite surprised to see my picture printed in that section one morning. I immediately mailed to the address mentioned, waited a couple of days, got no reply so I mailed in again, thinking maybe they didn't receive my mail. But after repeated attempts of trying to contact the email address provided, phone numbers given etc, I got no response and finally had to give up and accept the fact that I'm never going to be able to claim the prize. After a couple of days.. surprise surprise! they print the same picture, but this time, my friend is the prize winner, she too has sent in the mail.. and as expected hasn't received a response either. They are out there running a nice con game, yet printing that section, even though they have absolutely no intention of giving out prizes.. So doesn't go well with the image of the Times of India Group! Left a horrible taste in my mouth.. Makes you realize that even big companies don't really have a reputation worth trusting! Good for them they come free, coz I for one, am never gonna spend a single penny to buy their crappy paper, and am so gonna ensure none of my friends and family buy it either!

DECEPTIVE TACTICS TO BOOST SALES
Nov 09, 2005 09:56 PM 10474 Views

I have been getting the paper along with TOI. Got tempted by special offer by MM Direct to readers & paid full cash to the courier as per the offer on 16th October. No sign or feedback from them for the money paid for a 5 speaker system which was to be delivered in 15 days.

Follow up has no effect. Full story is displayed on Mirror blog as below but no effect.

Mumbai mirror Direct to Readers offer is a big Hoax to swindle money from readers & not delivering anything. There is no response from 2852885 & no delivery of 5 speaker music system even if money was paid on 16th October & delivery was promised in 15 days. The service office in Delhi does not respond as the phone number 01245187000 asks for extension which is not furnished by Mumbai Mirror & operator does not come on line & your call money is wasted.

Please do not believe in Mumbai Mirror Direct sales.. Complaints entered on their blog site is removed but no action is taken to deliver.

There is another person who has paid in first week of October but not getting response. Any solution?
