Momo?s Point
Chinese & Tibetan Food Plaza
If Delhi had more and more of coffee joints, quality momo serving outlets and beer bars it would be even more wonderful place to live in?.
Momo?s Point.I first ate here almost 4 years back and am now a regular. It is a small place. Situated in one of the back lanes of Kamla Nagar, the entrance to MP is quite filthy and yet one would find a long queue waiting outside. Definitely there has to be some magic inside this place or why else would young people from the nearby hip colleges of delhi university flock outside MP. Once inside I warrant all you momo freaks that this place is nothing less than cool. Inside is a different. This extremely small basement plaza oozes with youth and happiness. There is so much activity within this tiny place that one would never like to leave. Though not fancy and not at all located at the very cleanest of the places this Chinese & Tibetan food plaza happens to very popular.
I love n relish chicken momos. At one point of time I was nearly addicted to them. For this reason I have always been looking out for outlets in delhi serving quality momos. Well MP is one of those places where my search to tantalize and satiate my taste buds came to an end. MP serves excellent food at reasonable prices. The crowd here is very goodand the place is almost full most of the times resulting in long queues outside. MP is a popular hangout for DU students.
Since at a stones throw from MP is the Hansraj College (one of the best when it comes to crowd), besides not far are colleges like KMC,Stephens,Hindu and others??oops I almost forgot to mention Miranda House, one can easily make out what kind of crowd puller is MP. Besides MP attracts dozens and scores of north east students. All this makes the confines of the MP basement a lively place to be in at any given point of the day. This is one place where one can leave all the inhibitions behind and speak your mind while savoring the food.
My friend and I were at MP 4 years back. It was my first time while he was a regular there. We ordered chicken momos ( always prefer steamed)and fruit beer. While we waited for dishes there was so much else to do. Besides kool music being played in the background we could also watch television??.but nah we decided to watch other things! ( I bet u get it). Most orders here are taken quickly and the food arrives faster.
Our dish was very nice and I really liked the service. There was no need to shout as the waiters were at a hands distance and attentive. ( many in Delhi have these weird habit of shouting to place their order). While in my successive visits I have ordered different dishes I have also kept an eye on what other guys n gals have been ordering. Prawn Manchurian n chilly is kinda popular in here. Many of the beginners try out with the regular chowmein?the quantity is huge whichever type you order. Also popular are chicken Szechwan style and chicken hongkong. (seriously the reminder of these dishes makes me drool at the moment). The prices are pocket friendly keeping the students need. However at these prices the food is really nice. I would highly recommend it. I always keep going back in there whenever I am at KN.
Some of the regular dishes @ MP are:-
Steamed momos, prawn chowmein, chicken thukpa, prawn chilly, chicken hongkong.
Also I would like to mention where else in Delhi can one find essentially good momos. In fact at South extension one can find the most delicious momos. Two nepali guys ( probably students) sell the home cooked momos on a cycle! These two chaps can be seen standing just outside the multi shopping mall at the south ex-II.
Six months back for more than three months I was a regular there. Certainly they serve the best I have ever eaten, also the momos are fresh and limited in quantity. The momos were so good that I had a sort of addiction for them. I am not sure if the two guys still stand there or have moved but in case any of you readers do get a chance try them out.
The reason why I started my review with a very weird sentence is explained now. With more such outlets serving beer, momos, coffee, etc, more and more people would venture outside their homes, thus contribiting heavily towards raising the social parameters. With more social life in the city more happiness wud creep in.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
