Its heart of Kolkata, from starter to snacks everything made here just like a simple favour of Kolkata test. Old heritage off starter flavour mans Mitra cafe. It's located Shyam bazar more, old shop which still remain its authentic test of food as well as the price remain reasonable. Till date it used to serve tasty food to all keep in mind the flavour of old days. No flourish and no extra garnishing it's needed. Actually it's so pure flavour of North Calcutta. Till date its asset of Kolkata.
Just a few minutes walk from Allen's kitchen on Jatindra Mohan Avenue and You will be at mitra cafe. Another nostalgic journey down memory lane, old Calcutta, Colonial cuisine. The shabby marble-topped tables and green wooden benches in this tiny two-and-half-room joint is no reflection of the food at all. Check out their excellent English Brain chop ( fried goat brain or Bheja fry to today's world) with toasts ( crisp bread tosated on wood fire) , Kabiraji cutlets, Fish Fry, Motton/Chicken Kosha. The legendary chicken soup still exists in menu. You will be grateful for the meal.
YOUR RATING ON
I have gone there several times and had tried several items. Especially I like the double egg chicken roll.also their prawn cutlet is very famous.they are now trying several new items.there outlet is very clean and the workers maintain a very good hygiene. Their work are really appreciable. Also their rates though bit high, but the best thing about them is that they knows how to maintain their quality.I and my family are really fond of the place. I would recommend everyone to atleast visit there once atleast.
Heyy cool place! I liked the way the served! Pricing was completely okay! I doubted earlier with the quality but after getting served it was completely okay! Good to go with it! Damm and writing 250 cahracters is irritation me bcz there shouldn't be any restiriction to wirte!
If you are from kolkata and by chance live in north part of the city, the first two resurants you will hear the names of are Mita Cafe and Golbari. From the earlier days Mitra Cafe is serving the fast food lovers of Kolkata, and has earned a prestigious reputation. The old one beside Shyambazar 5 point crossing is still working in its peak. And from Fish Kobirazi to fish fry to Pron Cutlet all other fast foods are available here. Price is very reasonable and can be taken as cheap comparing to the high class newly built resturants. Atmosphere is typical old resturant type with basic features availble. However Mita Cafe recently is opening their resturant chains in diffeeent malls to extend their business. But the real deal is having food in the old shop. That simultaniously creates a mixture of nostalgia and authenticity of the taste of the resturant. Quality is maintained and that is the key to the business of the cafe. If you come ever in kolkata and want to feel the real taste of north kolkata then mitra cafe will never disappoint you.
This is a place where taste meets nostalgia. If you are serious about ambience then its not your place. The place is only for tha food lovers. The cutlets still carry the legacy of calcutta , which can only be read in the history books. A small outlet just beside the syambazar metro station. The famous mitra cafe is doing wonders. So visit this place to be a part of the history wonders. Service is very good. Staffs are very polite.
Its a must visit place
