I am writing to express my worst recent experience I had at MAX hospital.
On 9th August, I visited MAX hospital for a routine consultation due to a fever. Without any test results, the doctor claimed that I might have dengue and insisted on admitting me to the emergency department until the reports were available. I was told that if the dengue test was negative, I would be discharged within 24 hours. However, I was admitted without an attendant, and the reports, which were ready by 11 PM on 9th August, were not communicated to me promptly.
From the beginning, I was very clear that I could not afford a large medical bill as I am a student, and my family is not in town. I have corporate insurance, but I was informed that I could not claim it due to not completing six months at my company. Despite this, I was not informed about my insurance status until 10th August.
During my stay, I was not updated about my diagnosis or treatment. On 10th August, around 10 PM, I requested to be discharged as I was feeling fine and was concerned about incurring unnecessary charges. However, the hospital staff was uncooperative, and I felt that I was being billed without receiving proper treatment or information.
Upon discharge, the nursing and billing staff were unsupportive. As a patient on IVs, I had to navigate the hospital alone, which I found to be highly irresponsible and unprofessional behavior.
I am seeking assistance on how to file a grievance and claim compensation for the distress and inconvenience caused by this experience. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
MARYAM HUSSAIN
