Sorry Mambalam Iyers-I Would Choose Another Brand
Jan 05, 2017 10:54 PM 7922 Views

Mambalam Iyers Pickle is a popular brand and does get rave reviews from a few but unfortunately my personal opinion about this brand is not very good. There is, of course, nothing wrong about the pickles but I don’t consider them on par with Mother’s Recipe, MTR, 777 or Kitchen Promise.

I have tasted almost all the pickles of Mambalam Iyers brand and would like to say that I hate their Puliyodharai paste(or powder-I am not very sure as it is a couple of years since I tasted and detested it) though onion pickle is the one I relished and consumed again and again.

Competition in the food industry being high, it is indeed a herculean task for manufacturers of pickles to bring out the best in taste, presentation and value.

With due regards to the makers as the packaging is decent and a somewhat good job has been done by way of manufacturing pickles that are popular, I would like to say that taste wise, I still think that they have a long way to go. This is my humble personal opinion as a serious foodie.

Mambalam Iyers is a trusted company For pickles. Becuase its available in good shapes.Last Week I Bought Mambalam Iyers Mango Pickle in Reliance Market. Its Costly Compared to Other pickles.I Bought 200gm Bottles for 48 Rs.But Guru Mango pickle Bottles 300gm bottles for 52.Comparing Mambalam Iyers mango pickles to other pickles, mambalam iyers product looks good.So cost is not the major problem. Most of Times Good product is more Costly than other products.so Don't worry

In My point of View Mambalam Iyers products are very tasty and neat

Really a tasty pickle

Recently after getting fed up with most of the readymade pickles available in the market, either they add too much preservatives or garlic,

I was looking for a new pickle in the net, I came across this product in Big Basket website. I decided to try out the lemon and mango pickles. It tastes like home made pickles. A 200 gm bottle cost around Rs. 45/-. and the shelf life is for one year. It tastes really good and clean.

The ingredients they use is of good quality. The packing also comes good. Now a days one doesn't get time to cut the fruits or to make pickles. So buying the right product makes our work easy. Just having these pickles with curd rice is a good option for school going kids. I really like this product.

The most delicious pickle I have ever tasted

Recently I came across this product when I was shopping online. So far I have tried the pickle products of many companies. But on some reason or other, some might come without gravy, some might be too spicy. But this particular brand tastes superb.

Even kids just love to have it with rice or uppuma or chappathi. A 200 gm bottle costs around Rs.40/-. Not much preservatives have seemed to be added to this. Also different varieties like mango, lime, kalyana pickle lots, are available. Since there is no garlic, it is pleasant to eat it. All in all it can be substituted as a side dish for many food items. Packing is also good and neat.

South ka Pickle
May 05, 2015 07:07 PM 12623 Views

Mambalam Iyer's Pickle are mostly famous in South India and are a key food item in Mallu and Tamil weddings. They have been prepared keeping in mind the taste of Indian taste-buds, which makes them spicy and tarty. These pickles are available in eight different flavors, namely Mixed vegetables, Madras Thokku, Lime, Narthagai, Mango, Tomato, Ginger, and Lime Chilli.

It isn't really possible to find them in Mumbai until you order them online or have a relative/friend paying you visit from South India. The product is readily available in the Southern states of India. The pickles are damn cheap and nicely packed in plastic packs or glass bottles.

However, sometimes the pieces of vegetables or other contents aren't really soft all the times. Some of them are a little tough. Hence I prefer either Nirlon's pickle or MTR pickle over this product. Only if you are sort of bored with the regular taste of these pickles and want a change in flavor, then you must definitely try out Mabalam Iyer's Pickle. You might like it. Also, note that the shlef life of these pickles aren't really long, because the oil that is used as a preservative is in a very less quantity. Make sure you store it in the glass bottle itself or a plastic bottle, preferably. Storing it in steel utensils might make it go acidic and spoil both the pickle as well as the utensil.
