**I Am Here For You**

Ok, am in a review mood today. Have already written one this morning on Christmas Carols and am writing another one now! I swear, it must have something to do with Christmas :D!!!

Anway, I'm back to my regular music reviews, which cool_tanmay was ever so impressed by ;-)!!!! Well, as usual the Main Hoon Na album did not come to me as easily as it should have done.

I had actually bought it in India and as usual was full of tension when packing. Unfortunately, when I got back to England I realised that I had left it there. After 6 desperate attempts to contact some of my relatives in India, when I finally got in touch I realised that it was actually lying in an inside pocket of my suitcase. Warning to all.....never let your mother buy your suitcase!!!

They buy them filled with all of these secret pockets etc. etc. which you never discover until a year after. My sneaky little cousin had packed the album in this pocket for me to ''save me from any hassle.''

Did a good job didn't she?!:-O

-----------

Track 1 - Main Hoon Na

-----------

The first time I heard this track I didn't think much of it. I just thought it was some of your regular bollywood filmi songs, but on my 6th attempt on listening to it, I found it quite beautiful. This is an inspirational song, which is telling someone that they are there for them. What really struck me was the 2nd verse, which I have put underneath. It is so beautiful. Sonu Nigam does a good job in this song, then again that is nothing new for Sonu Nigam. Shreya Ghosal only has a few lines, but makes the most of them. The song is very refreshing. BTW listen out for the guitar intro, it really is something!

Kehne ki ho dil mein koi baat, mujhse kaho,

Koi pal ho din ho ya ho raat, mujhse kaho,

Koi mushkil koi pareshani aaye, Tumhe lage kuch thik nahi haalaat, mujhse kaho,

Koi ho tamanaa, ya ho koi aarzoo,

Rehna kabhi na bekaraar, Main hoon na....

-----------

Track 2 - Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha

-----------

A nice bouncy track sung well by Abhijeet and Shreya Ghosal. I was going to put it in my list of Five Best Songs Of Abhijeet but space was confined. The lyrics are nice and basically mean that since I have seen you, I have no sense. This is a fun song and it is one to be enjoyed.

Rating: 90%

Track 3 - Chale Jaise Hawaiyen

-----------

I have a mixed opinion on this song. I actually used it in a dance competition once and won. The only good thing I like about this song is the 1st verse, because everyone says it describes me. Everytime it comes on, my friend Rahul points at me and goes ''Its your verse!!'' However, there are many reasons why I don't like this track. I don't know why, but I have never been a fan of Vasundhara Das, whether in Monsoon Wedding or in regular singing. I feel she is too loud, and sometimes it sounds like she puts on a voice which isn't naturally hers. In this track, she is basically screaming her heart out. KK's verse at the end doesn't help to justify the track either, it just makes it worse. Now we just have a screaming ladka and ladki. Music is nothing great.

Koi roke, koi aaye, jitna bhi mujhko samjhaaye,

Main na sunungi kabhi....Apni hi dhun mein rehti hoon,

Main pagli hoon, mein ziddi hoon....Kehte hai ye to sabhi,

Koi nahi jaana....ki armaan kya hai mera....

-----------

Track 4 - Main Hoon Na Remix

-----------

Can't say much about this track. It is definitely one you can skip on your player. Its quite amazing how some remixes manage to spoil such beautiful songs.

Rating: 22%

-----------

Track 5 - Ye Fizaen

-----------

This is another bouncy track like Track 2 and manages to catch the same likeness. The music is nice and bouncy. I don't like the intro much though. Lyrics are nice....is generally a nice track. K.K. sounds much better in this track that in Track 3. Alka Yagnik does well. I prefer the verses to the main chorus though. Also like how the ending fades out. BTW check out the track on TV, its the ending of the movie and is really good!

Track 6 - Main Hoon Na Sad

-----------

This is my favourite track of this album! I can't actually believe that it is an Anu Mallik song. The track is dominated by Abhijeet. The music is beautiful, especially the violin intro at the beginning. But the thing that touches me is the https://lyrics. They are absolutely beautiful and heartfelt. So is Abhijeet's singing. A definite must listen!

Track 7 - Gori Gori

-----------

Ok, I knew Anu Mallik just had to screw something up! Have read many review on this topic on MS and quite a few people seemed to like this track. Sorry folks, I don't!!! It was inspired by some old great songs, probably Shammi Kapoor generation. This sort of stuff can still be pulled off today if it is pulled of nicely! Not here!! Anu Mallik and K.K. trying to sound their best in one track!!! I cant bear it, I cant bear it!!! Both Sunidhi Chahuan and Shreya Ghosal are part of my favourite singers, yet in this track they were just completely wasted. Unless you like tacky, 2nd hand jazz music, you could listen to a minute or 2 of this and then skip it! Lyrics are nothing great!

Kabhi kabhi kahin kahi chori chori,

Chup chup ke tum mila karo,

Pyar pyar baatein shatein kia karo....

Track 8 - Tumse Milke

-----------

Finally last, but not the least a Qawali track. These seem to be becoming more and more popular in Bollywood these days. This track has a good beat, definitely one you would tap your feet too. I don't think much of the dekho pyare, ye nazare, ye parwane, ye diwane... as it sounds rushed, but a good track all the same. Sonu Nigam sounds great in this track. I prefer the verses to the chorus though. That's just because I prefer the lyrics in the verses!

Rating: 77%

Dil To Hai Ek Kashti Jaana, Jiska Tum Saahil Ho

Dil Na Phir Kuchh Maange Jaana, Tum Agar Haasil Ho

Dil To Hai Mera Tanha Jaana, Aao Tum Mahfil Ho..

Hope you enjoyed!! I think I may take a break for a while, so have a Merry Xmas!

Signing of in my own way -

Red chillies entertainment in association with Venus produced the soundtrack album of MAIN HOON NA the film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, and Amrita Rao and directed by the chirographer _ turned _ director Farah Khan.

Main hoon na the soundtrack is a chill pill from inside out _ except main hoon na the sad version _. It?s full of life loving, youth loving and love loving.

The album opens up with the title song Main Hoon NA. The song began with a humming of a man then by a group of people followed with a nice to hear whistle then Hmmmmmmmmmm kiska hai yeh tumko?.with soft music at the background then the drum enters with the repeating of the same lyrics line. The beat stables all along the song except the parts between main https://lyrics. The whistle returns to end up the song.

By the way it was Anu Malik who composed this song and the whole album.

Javid Akhtar was on the top of a mountain when he wrote those wonderful words. The lyrics weren?t specific. They?re about confident and being there for some one you care about. A lover, a friend, a family member, or even a neighbor.

Sonu Nigam outstaded in the song. Also did Shreya Ghoshal although she performed few lines.

Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha a song speaks about how love strikes a person while he?s not aware of it. A Spanish rhythm was chosen to be composed for the song. Anu used the Spanish guitar, Spanish clapping and vocals who sang in Spanish style and he did a great great job.

Javed was still relaxing at the top of the same inspiring mountain writing the track.

Abhijeet did a good job singing the song. Had a solo at the beginning of the song and sang most of the song. But Shreya Ghoshal exceeded him in feeling the words and presented them.

K.K. and Vasundhara sang greatly the very youthful and challenging record Chale Jaise Hawaien.

Anu managed to turn up with another lovely dancing song. A rhythm like a young fellow. A beat like a horse running wild. Anu also worked the violin and the guitar in the song. Javed dipped into the core of youth and wrote the song.

The remix of Main Hoon Na gave a great chance for Anu to present his brilliant skills. Showing out the melody of main hoon na clearly without lyrics (few lines in English by Ranjeet Barat and chorus). Anu was clever taking the chance by using different musical instruments for the same musical line.

Javed was brilliant in writing a song like Ye Fizaein. A song that embrace life and look out to the future. K.K. and Alka Yagnik excelled as always performing the record. They felt it to the core. Anu used a variation of musical lines during the song.

Main hoon Na (sad version). The only sad song included in the album. It was great how Javed wrote different wonderful words to the same but slower musical lines of the title song main hoon Na. have I mentioned that Abhijeet defeated his own self. He was simply WOW.

The party (ghazal) song Gori Gori Gori Gori was made like an old night club song. It?s groovy and makes you shake your bon bon. Anu Malik who shared singing the song did a hell of dancing beat. K.K., Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan accompany Anu in the party and shook a leg for it.

The last song of the album which considers a favorite to me is Tumse Milke Dil Ka Hai Jo Haal. The track performed by the three men Sonu Nigam, Aftab Sabri, and Hashim Sabri who did a wonderful mix of voices and singing.

Javed sent to us from his holy top a great love song with unusual https://lyrics. He put too much lyrics to the song even for the vocals.

Anu as a very gifted and talented composer, he ended his collection for his day with an Indian _ modern style melody. The song began with the sound of payal and Indian drum which repeat at the beginning of the second half of the song. The whole song has a wonderful beat and apart sounded like an electronic music lines.

At whole the album was wicked.

Main Ho Na music review

SAiNatH

Director Farah Khan

Music Anu malik

Lyrics Javed Akthar

The songs of MHN are of mixed bag…It seems anu malik is fully inspired from RD Burman’s work….But overall the Album succeeds.

chale jaise hawayein

vasundra das K K

A funky type song…The tune is extremely catchy and vasundra das sings very well and she is well supported by KK.

Lyrics by Javed are naughty.

The starting tune reminds me of ARR’s thakshak song ‘mein banke savera jaak ute’.

This song should be liked by all.

gori gori

anu malik KK shreya sunidi

This song is a big letdown…Uninspiring tune with equally average singing especially by anu malik make this song a big bore.

Its kinda party type of song but should look good on screen.

Main ho naa

sonu nigam shreya

excellent song!!!!sonu deserves award for his soulful singing

shreya is jus about ok well I was surprised and amused when I saw the film bcos it was SRK singing for Zayed ..

this song should find place among the best soundtracks of the year.

Lyrics by javed saab is the highlight of the song..

Hats off to anu malik, sonu and javed..

One of the best tracks of the yr

Tumhe jo maine Dekha

abhijet shreya

Typical R D burman song !!!! Will be interesting to see howz It picturised. Abhijeet and shreya have done their part.

Lyrics are decent…though nothing new…Could have been much batter

Yeh fizayein

KK alka

Farah khan said the idea to make this song had come from Bombay dreams…would luv to see howz it picturised..

The track is an average one…nothing special in it..A typical anu malik song…Lyrics are decent

Tumse mile dil ka

sonu sabari

Well a modern qawalli..Well sung by Sonu Nigam well supported by sabari..

the tune is awesome and is a sure hit..

picturised brilliantly and this song is supposed to be SRK’s favourite.

Catchy tune and good picturisation will do the trick.

The album also contain main ho na sad version and a remix instrumental which are passable

On the whole a average album by anu malik but what is important is it will be enjoyed by the mass

Farah enriches the songs by wonderful picturisation..

One of the better works from anu malik..

I mean getting and listening to the soundtrack of any film that stars SRK has become a must for me... an ardent SRK fan.... but u see I had become a bit wary after seeing the name Anu Malik in the music credits on some website...

Nevertheless MP3s are not difficult to acquire in a college you see... And as far as the soundtrack goes.. it goes without saying that Anu Malik has done it again..... He has created some really horrible songs for this SRK thriller.... I dont know whether Sajid Khan was in his senses when he commented that Anu's music reminds him of Panchamda....... Anyways Kehne Mein Kya Harz Hai!! Ab Nahin Bolega To Kab>> After all this is sister's debut directorial venture (and mind you not dance direction but the whole movie itself))

The Title track is the only saving grace in the whole album... Sonu is again at his best crooning meaningful lyrics again from Javed Akhtar... And Yeah Anu had to do his bit... He did it and by God he spoilt the initial of this song with choruses blabbering something in some unknown language. The female part could also have been easily trimmed off to make it perect

Which now brings us to the second track... Anu tries his luck at composing (yeah I got that right.. not copying for once) anything... This time it is a qawaali... Sabri Brothers are good with their opening lines....

The song that is really great is the sad version of the title song (I still don't understand why people make multiple copies of the same song... jus a waste of precious harddisk space u know... but I would like to add that this does not apply to this song). Abhijeet has kinda taken a liking to SRK with his only Filmfare also being in a SRK film... This guy should sing more songs...

The rest of the songs are not worth even a mention...... with Malik trying lotsa combinations like taking up a mike himself and so on...... (What I seriously think that Mr. Malik should retire after this and stop giving the public nightmares... And he should do it now .. coz this music will sell to good numbers... even tho it is bad.... but it has SRK...)

NOT Recommended for even avid SRK fans... (if u ask me that is... the guy next door has been boring me by playin this on high volume in the middle of the night... he is gonna get it from me soon if he doesnt stop... nah dont worry I won't hit him or anythin... I'll jus put my maiden collection on and allow my speakers to do the rest)

All my life is in brackets..

Anu Malik's personal best
Mar 06, 2004 07:27 PM5303 Views

After the huge success of Kal ho naa ho I was expecting something much better than KHNH's music for his next movie. But after seeing that the music was composed by Anu malik I wasn't expecting anything really great or new. But Anu Malik has proven that he has the potential to deliver some good music when required.

Anu has done some interesting things in MAIN HOON NA. Such as in the song ''Tumse milke''.It has been long since I heard anything like this. The long forgotten genre of ''qwallis'' music has been recreated beautifully. Three songs are extremly good they are ,the title track & its sad version, both are extremly good. I kept singing it for sometime now. I also like ''Tumhe jo main ne'' it is also really good and it has a feel of a mid 90's songs. The sad version of the title track is sung by Abhijeet which has good lyrics written by Javed Akthar.

Javed Akther has an equal amount of effort put in to make this album sound good as much as Anu Malik. He is absolutely perfect in the song Main hoon na and equally sentimental in the sad version.Apart from these great songs there are also few average songs.Don't get me wrong even those songs are good.''gori gori'',''Yeh fizayein''&''chale jise hawayien''are the average songs.''Gori gori '' is a typical party kind of a song with lyrics that are sung fast.''yeh fizayein''also sounds like a 90 kind of a song.''chale''song is sung by vasundra das who has sung this with a haunted feel like that of ''suraj hua madham''of K3G.

Apart from these songs there is a remix of the title track with the line''I'll be there'' again and again. This songs is really good , the music is very energetic and it is left to Farah how she picturises this song.

My favourite song of this album is the title track. But the lyrics of my favourite is that of the sad version which goes like this....

Khoya hai paake jisne pyaar main hoon na

bachein main hoon bekarar main hoon na

koi to ho to aisa jisko apna keh sakoon

koi to ho aisa jiske dil mein reh sakoon

koi to kehta ek baar main hoon na

Khoya hai paake jisne pyaar main hoon na

bachein main hoon bekarar main hoon na

Jo bandhan doote jo apne doonde

aasa jaare phirse dooriyan

yeh kyun hota hai yeh dil rotha hai

bebas ho jathi hai yeh zamaan

apne to saare is kinaare reh gaye

ho tanha chala jo us baar main hoon na

Khoya hai paake jisne pyaar main hoon na

bachein main hoon bekarar main hoon na

jahan be mein jaaun jahan bhi mein dekhoon

saare chehre begane se hai

kabie koi tha jo mera hi tha

yeh kis se ab apsane se hai

kal zindigi ne khel khele they naye

kuch log jeete jeetke sab le gaye

phir se main aaye jiske haar main hoon na

Totally this album has captivated me for the past few days and I will humm some of the songs of this album for a long timeThis album will captivate people for some weeks to come.

Two Reasons why I want to see this movie: (Aud
Mar 04, 2004 10:47 PM6669 Views

  1. Two of my favourite actors are in this movie: None other than Naseeruddin Shah & Sushmita Sen

  2. This maybe one of Shahrukh's first movie that does not has to do with anything glamourous, (you know, dupattas, families, etc... and this movie may be similar to Yes Boss), no Kajol/Rani/Preity/Aish so that they would cry out the movie (even though they are good actresses), no Chopra/Johar/Ghai included (even though Farah Khan has worked with them) AND it has a different story to it... But I could be wrong... I don't want to see this movie badly, but I wouldn't mind if I see it... I have no great expectations to any SRK's movie since I know they turn out to be bad. (Except for Yes Boss!)

So anyways, this is an Audio Review... Music Director: Anu Malik or Maliik or Maleek or Mallik..... (lol)

First things first, Anu is not a good music director... He sucks... His songs are only good when he has copied from English to Arabian music.

Can you believe this man? Anyways on to the review:

Main Hoon Na - Sung by Sonu Nigam & Shreya Ghosal:

It starts out with some typical poppy tunes from Anu for about 10 seconds. Then a beautiful, catchy whistle comes out beating that poppy part. It is nice... That was one of the reasons why I liked that song... It's the whistling. Yet it has nothing to do with the song, it doesn't match with it. But that's alright. Then some guitar comes from the background, and Sonu's voice says:

''Hmmmm.. Kiska Hai Yeh Tumko Intezaar Main Hoon Na, Dekhlo Idhar Toh Ikbaar Main Hoon Na'' .... and so on... it's nice and simple... it's a cute song overall...

However I wished it was a solo from Sonu.... I don't know why Shreya sang this song... (What is up with this girl? Why is so many music directors hiring her? Her voice is not even that great... I mean the song from 'Jism' sucks... and she got the award for it... You want a real female playback singer? LISTEN TO ASHA BHOSLE! THE ONE AND ONLY!)

Overall, a nice simple song to listen on the radio/car... Yet the second verse kind of drags off...

Tumse Milke Dil Ka Jo Haal - Sung by Aftab Sabri, Hasim Sabri & Sonu Nigam:

A qawwali.... hmmm.... Anu is not good at making qawwalis... it's kind of corny... you mighta wanna skip this song... The Sabri bros. were not good... Sonu may be embarrased for singing this song... it's not great.

Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha - Sung by Abhijeet & Shreya Ghosal:

Is it me? or Anu is putting a lot of pauses in his songs? Abhijeet by far is the worse singer... next to Kumar Sanu. Sounds like one of those old 70s songs that went bad and straight into karoke! Annoying spanish and arabian music that's aint great... KUCH KHAAS NAHIN.... (Seems like Anu copied this also!)

Gori Gori - Anu Malik, Kay Kay, Shreya Ghosal, Sunidhi Chauhan:

Tsk, tsk, tsk...... It's just .... omg... too bad...

Chale jaise hawaien - Kay Kay & Vasundhara Das:

Tries to be like those hyped Indian songs... But it sounds like an old Paki song... more like pop music... Not good.

Main Hoon Naa (Sad) - Abhijeet:

Hmmm.. maybe SRK dies in this one too! Lol.... It sounds like a Jatin-Lalit version with all the ahhhhh, slow percussions and violins crying (ahem.. like Mohabbetein).... Abhijeet once again ruins it.

Yeh Fizayein - Kay Kay & Alka Yagnik:

Lol.. sounds like Rekha's & Amitabh's ''YEH KAHAN AAGAIYAI HUM'' lol... at the beginning....

It's alright.... may grow onto you.. but not moi.

Main Hoon Na (Remix) - Ranjit Barot:

It is more of an instrumental than remix.... not good....

Ha ha.. turns out that I only like ONE SONG! The title songs are the only ones that are used in trailers anyways.. lol... (and by the way, the trailers aren't great either, Zayed Khan looks like a crazy loon with the long hair!)

So Whaaat ?

The aptly titled movie really makes me believe in how they all propagating the I am the best theory of SRK, any ways got hold of some time, a net connection and this CD which courtesy of T-Series contains 8 tracks of total 40 mins of music.

Music by: Anu Malik

Lyrics: Javed Akhtar

#1::Main Hoon Naa…. (Sonu Nigam & Shreya Ghoshal)

The title song seems to be the best of the lot, as its simple and will very easily appeal people like young buzzards and teens especially, sung well & mostly by Sonu Nigam with l’I bit of Shreya Ghoshal as well, the song as I said is a melodious one with less usage of heavy rhythms instead you can listen to congos and bongos accompanied with a nice chorus.

#2::Tumse milke dilka jo haal….(Sonu Nigam and Sabri Bros.)

The song is a fast modern combo of qawwalli and light music, the rhythms and music also represent the same with Tabla taking the centrestage with bit of DJ voiceover and modern tunes in background. Sonu has sung this well and same is with Sabri bros. For the qawwalli part. Though the song doesn’t give Sonu much scope to explore his voice pitch & seems like a normal routine affair sometimes.

#3::Tumhe maine jo dekha….(Abhijeet & Shreya Ghoshal)

This is boring stuff from the outset, seems like we are hearing a Abhijeet album (if you are aware of his albums), routine song with irritating music and simply sung by both of them, btw the music used seems like the one of 70s.

#4::Gori Gori….(Anu Malik, KK, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan)

This seems like fun song and must be during some college party of prom night in the movie and the visual in the CD also made me think this, Listen it..dance a bit and enjoy it but forget it after, Just for your info you can hear Anu Malik in this (If you thought I wrongly typed his name above).

#5::Chale jaise hawaien….(K.K.,Vasundhara Das)

This is a fast arrogant song, by arrogant well one can easily feel the mood represented by the song, seems like this song is to introduce the school girl and boy i.e Amrita Rao and Zayed Khan, I make this assumption on the basis of inlaycard in the CD. (mind you I haven’t seen the trailor of this one as yet), The song is perhaps the first one using heavy rhythms and total western instrumentation. OK song overall.

#6::Main Hoon Naa….(Abhijeet)

This is a situational song and is not as good as the original also you will feel a different feel altogether as the voice now comprises of Abhijeet and not Sonu Nigam, I think this might be on SRK, my assumption on this would be like Sushmita might have rejected his love proposal or might be loving some one or might be…Oh ok I would stop here…Ok song has to have a visual with it.

#7::Ye Fizaein….(KK & Alka Yagnik)

This is a happy song and for the first time brings in Alka Yagnik into our ears, seems like a routine song but I think it can grow as it did with me, My assumption on this well seems to be like everything is going well in the School with love in students and teachers as well…A Feel Good Song in feel good factor.

#8::Main Hoon Naa….(By Ranjit Barot)

Simply a remix and seems like a background tone that will remain all the time in the movie, Ranjit Barot (known for Vande Mataram 2 after A.R.Rahman) has done it well and one can listen it again & 1 more time again.

MHN seems like a SRK movie, it is Farah Khan’s debut venture as a director (coz she is a renowned choreographer), the movie also feature Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao. The movie falls on the theatres …uummmm ….I dunno when.

Cticize’s Quote:: “Anu Malik seems to have gone no further and not behind either, it seems to be ok affair but I expected much better from Javed Akhtar who could have done somewhat better with lyrics, overall the music might give shadows of Anu Malik’s other score from “Ishq Vishk”.

Main Hoon Na- Music- Its a khichdi alright!

Yes its out already! And yes, I bought the CD after just listening to one song in parts. :) And no, I don't completely regret it. And no, I don't exactly feel really good about buying it too. LOL. Does that give you an idea of what's going to follow in this review? If not, Read on! (If you do, still READ ON! Or else....evil grin)

The music is by .....Anu Malik (NO! I didn't know that before buying the CD!!)

# Main Hoon Na- Its sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. Sonu sounds nice, as usual. Shreya sounds really sweet .The promos are on air, and I liked the music and the song. But the actual song has those trademark Anu Malik features. The song is mixed with those unneccessary bits of instrumental 'noise' LOL, and someone(s) :D who goes tu...ru..turu.... and ''coombaya...!!!!!! What does that mean? And not to forget the garnishing of the perfectly hindi song with english words! But if you meditate, calm down, filter the song virtually in the mind of all its unneccessary components, its actually a nice song. A quite sweet song. Lyrics are the usual mushy stuff:

Kiska hai yeh tumko intezaar main hoon na

Dekh lo idhar to ek baar main hoon na

Khamosh kyun ho jo bhi kehna hai kaho

Dil chahe jitna, pyar utna maang lo,

tumko milega utna pyaar main hoon na!

I really like the whistling in the background! lol! This IS THE BEST song of the bunch. You will like listening to it.

#Tumse Milke Dil Ka Hai Jo Haal

Beats are kind of like those energetic bhangra ones, but actually the song resembles qawwalis ..i guess..., you could like the song after hearing it twice or thrice. Actually, its one of the better songs of the album. Sonu Nigam is the singer again. But once again, Anu Malik puts in English words like 'wassup' and 'check that' which are meaningless!! It gives the song a 'wannabe cool' feel. LOL, as if english words could give the song a 'feel cool' factor.

Uggh! And to my horror, Anu malik pops in and out of the song, saying 'rumtararum'

I dunno...I get an inkling that this review is going to cause a sharp decline in the album sale...lol

Tumse Milke dil ka hai jo haal kya kahein

Ho gaya hai kaisa yeh kamaal kya kahein

(Too many instruments in this one too)

#Tumhe Jo maine dekha

Abhijeet sounds good. I wonder why he doesnt sing in more movies.

The song...sounds too much like a mid 90's song, not neccessarily bad, but you feel as though you have heard the song earlier. But, I guess thats a given in an A.M. composition!!

Not much else to say about this one.

Tumhe jo maine socha

Tumhe jo maine maana

Tumhe jo maine dekha

Tumhe jo maine jaana

Jo hosh tha..Woh to gaya

Its not bad on the ears....mainly because of Abhijeet's voice.

# Gori Gori- Sung by K.K, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan and....Anu Malik!!

You must have heard the eternal question regarding the chicken and the egg? That will have to move from its spot of being the biggest mystery in the world. The question now, is, why does Anu Malik sing? Why? Do u have an answer? I guess not so I better move on.

The song starts with English rap...yet again!

Then it tries to be a catchy 'its the time to disco' kind of song, and ends miserably. Its mediocre at best.

Gori gori gori gori gori gori

Kabhi Kabhi Kahin kahin kahin chori chori

and yak yak yak yak......

# Chale Jaise Hawaein

Sung by KK and Vasundhara Das, the same duo from Its the time to disco, it fails to even register on your memory. Its an average song. Complete with the 'wassup's.

Chale jaise Hawaein sanan sanan

ude jaise parinde gagan gagan

wo..woh..oo...

LOL!

Vasundhara sounds terribly scary!

# Main Hoon Na (sad version)- This one is not sung by Sonu Nigam, even though the 'normal' version is. Abhijeet doesn't disappoint. At all! Its a nice song....unlike the KHNH sad version.

Khoya hai pakar jisne pyaar main hoon na

Bechain main hoon, bekaraar main hoon na

Koi to ho aisa jisko apna keh sakoon

Koi to ho aisa jiske dil mein reh sakoon

Koi to kehta ek baar main hoon na

#Ye Fizayein

KK and Alka Yagnik this time.

The excess instrumental noise is BACK!!

Pretty OK song. Nothing special about it. The usual hindi movie feel good song lol.

I don't like KK much...

Ye fizaein

sun lo gayein

zindagi hain haseen.....

and so on and on and on...

I will compare this one with a KHNH song again, with Kuchh to hua hai. That one really makes you feel happy ...this one is nothing compared to it.

Now I understand that Shankar Ehsaan Loy's average is other people's magnum opus-es! LOL

# Main Hoon NA- REMIX

(yet another version of the title track!!)

English sentences at the start. Don't sound bad like the earlier mentioned songs..because atleast this time, we get complete sentences and not words!

Its the same main track with funkier beats and sentences like 'I'll be theeeeerreeee...'' But funkier and 'not bad' do not neccessarily mean good. Alteast not in this case. Its Passable. U turn the cd player on, it plays n passes, and you dont even notice.

So basically, only the first 3 songs and the sad version of the title track is good in the album. Rest are atleast not worth spending 125 bucks on 'em. Buy a cassette, if you want to. I bought the CD because...of my craze for anything related to Shahrukh.

You can buy the CD if you want to, but don't tell me I didn't warn you! Just get the 1st 3 and the sad version(mp3..) somehow, and you dont need the rest.

Lol, I've saved the songs on my computer, now I'll go to the shopkeeper and try to convince him to gimme atleast a 50 back from the 125 I paid him!. LOL, try maarne mein koi tax thode hee lagta hai, right?

p.s. I guess my views differ A LOT from tanmoychak's revu on the same album, but I'm surprised to see that nikamma112's and my opinion is completely the same! wow! And I didnt even read his review before writing this! LOL.

This was just a random piece of information for those who wish to increase their general knowledge.

The Javed-Sonu-Abhijeet Magic
Mar 01, 2004 09:36 AM7090 Views

Javed Akhtar and Sonu Nigam churns out magic that has become evident with both getting their Filmfares' just recently. That was with Shankar Ehsaan Loy joining the gang. But earlier this team did magic with Anu Malik in the team too ( Rem Refugee), and so do they do it again, in Main Hoon Na

The album has as many as eight songs. A Jazzy comic book look of the jacket of the album is perhaps the most unique thing one sees in a current album. But then it is not about just looking good, it is about feeling good too.

Main Hoon Na's title track makes you feel good. Sonu works magic as always with Javed Akhtar's lyrics, and Anu Malik's tune. The song is well penned, and obviously gives the impression that SRK is again playing that ''I am for all'' type of character ( now how many more, such Mr.Khan? but as long as they entertain it is good). But the song is really soothing to the ears. With Shreya Ghosal also lending her voice to it. Sweet melody as one can associate with Anu Malik, and if anything but again I wud repeat Lyrical Treat.

But for me, the best song in the album, is the second track. Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha ( ABhijeet and Shreya). Now Abhijeet sings well for SRK, and he sings well anyway I guess. Very underused perhaps. this song is one of the peppy bests, and surely the best in the album. It is a fast paced number, that won't really hit the discos', but it is a bathroom singers' delight. Some numbers make you feel dance infront of your mirror and Tumhe jo maine dekha is one such number.

Youthful, and promises to be picturised in a grand manner. This is surely the song to watch out for. And Abhijeet performs with full gutso. The music is treat to ears and not at all loud.

Talking of other songs, there are nothing great about them, so would not mention them in details. But one thing is for sure, that the songs are pleasing to the ears, and I feel audience may like them on screen because the movie promises to be a grand affair

May be because of this reason, the sequences of the songs feature on the album jacket, to poupularise the colorful aspect of the film. KK features in two songs, and he sounds good in yeh faizayen.

Sonu features in one qwaali, where the second antara is very good. But then it is also Mr. Akhtar who writes it so well.

The sad versions of the title tracks are mostly good. This one is not an exception and is renderd by Abhijeet

In all, Main Hoon Na, is not a bad purchase, and promises to be a chartbuster, because the album would be promoted heavily.

Though for Sonu Nigam this performance is becoming a routine affair- He is performing very well, for the last three years- the clear winner is Abhijeet.

We want to see more of him. He is singing and making people sway..that is it.

Main Hoon Na- for melody, soft, little dance....

Of Raj, Shah Rukh And Goats ...
Feb 29, 2004 04:44 PM17283 Views

The first step to success in Bollywood is the screen name - Raj.

I should be given a Nobel Prize. The benevolent soul I am, I still haven't sued Shah Rukh Khan. In each and every movie of his, he uses my name and converts into a French name by rolling the R's as the French do.

''Heyheyhey, I am Rrrrrraj, n-n-n-naam to suna hoga, haan?''

But there is a limit to tolerance. While I enjoyed the SRK flicks wherein he fed pigeons and stole beer, or for that matter, played the violin with a sweater around his neck, I couldn't tolerate what happened last year.

The movie was Chalte Chalte and SRK was as usual, named Raj. I don't know why, but he decided that instead of belonging to Class: Mammalia, he would rather be an example of Class: Amphibia. Which is why he started jumping in the fields to the jiggy beat of 'Tum Burrak Nama Nama Nama'. It was indeed the last straw and I couldn't see my name being insulted any further. I warned him that I will kill Karan Johar if he continues to use my name and so, Shah Rukh used the name Aman for Kal Ho Na Ho.

I guess that some chap called Aman may have warned SRK now because in his latest flick, Shah Rukh has used a unique name - 'Na'. After all, the film is titled Mein Hoon Na(My name is Na)!

---------------------------------------

I don't know whether the frog community of India took objection at SRK mimicking them, but this time, Shah Rukh has decided that he would rather be a goat. After all, according to the title, if somebody asks him, ''Kaun hai na?'' he would reply, ''Me-me-me-me-me-me-me-me-me-main!''

---------------------------------------

Yet, in spite of the goats connection, I love the title. As Shah Rukh reminds his detractors that he still very much there, the title reminds me of the phrase I tell this girl in my class who laments that she is single. ''You want someone? Mein hoon na!''

After flying in the air as she choreographed 'Woh ladki hai kahan', Farah Khan has decided to handle the directorial reins with Main Hoon Na, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Boman Irani, Naseerudin Shah, Kabir Bedi, Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao and Suniel Shetty.

Don't be decieved by the promos which promise a laugh-a-minute riot with a 30 year old man going back to school for the true premise of the story is much deeper. Shah Rukh plays Major Ramprasad Sharma (Golmaal, anyone?) who enrols as a student in the school where Amrita Rao studies to protect her. The beautiful damsel is in danger as she is the daughter of another army official (Kabir Bedi). Contrary to popular opinion, Zayed Khan does NOT play SRK's brother in this flick. The role was first offered to Hrithik Roshan, who had to opt out when the film got delayed due to SRK's back problems.

The preview pictures promise a lot, with Sunil Shetty playing a Physics professor, with a getup which reminds me of Professor Severus Snape of Harry Potter fame. And teaching Physics is certainly not about getting physical, for Shetty is actually a terrorist. The director has not spared efforts to scream above the roof tops that her film will be SRK's greatest hit, but then, do you expect a director to say that her own film is not good? However great (or horrible) the film may be, I wish Farah Khan, Suniel Shetty and Anu Malik, in particular, would shut up for the moment and let their work (or the lack of it) do the talking when the film releases, come April. If you are wondering what Anu Malik has said, sample this quote.

''Farah Khan's brother Sajid Khan told me that my music reminds him of the late R D Burman.''

Anu Malik ... R D Burman - II? That sounds even funnier than Tusshar Kapoor being in a love triangle featuring two girls!

------------------------------------

Main Hoon Na, the title track, which is already on television nowadays is a great track. The mild piece of guitaring at the beginning is a straight lift from the guitaring at the beginning of the title song of 'Ishq Vishk' (which was incidently set to tune by Anu Malik himself). But, post the copying and pasting, this song makes for great listening. Don't go by the promos which have Sonu Nigam crooning. Nigam sings the song quite well, but the piece de resistance is undoubtedly Shreya Ghosal. I didn't think much of her voice in Devdas, but after two scintillating songs in Bipasha's Jism (pun intended!), she has improved greatly. Her voice is melodious, playful and yet, controlled. Brilliant! The lyrics are impressive as well and the title track is a winner.

Rating: 9/10.

Tumse Milke Dilka Jo Haal is a qawali, a forgotten genre of music in today's films. I just wish that Malik wouldn't try to combine the qawali with genres like pop, rap, rock, added to Aftab Sabri and Hashim Sabri screaming at the top of their voices. Oh, I even forgot that Sonu Nigam, in this song, has a characteristic ''Haye'' before each line, which is reminiscent of the way Karan Johar says ''Haye'' on seeing Shah Rukh! Yet, this song appeals in parts, that is, in the parts, when the qawali sticks to being one, and doesn't venture into the other genres. Javed Akhtar's lyrics are praiseworthy.

Rating: 6.5/10.

Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha is a number which Shah Rukh breaks into while Sushmita Sen teaches Chemistry! The music is nothing to crow about, and sounds quite familiar to say the truth. The saving grace however are the singers. Abhijeet has always sung well while singing for Shah Rukh (Yes Boss, Asoka, Chalte Chalte), while Shreya Ghosal endorses BPL. In other words, she is better than the best!

Rating: 7/10.

Gori Gori is where Anu Malik yields the mic himself, along with Shreya Ghosal and Sunidhi Chauhan. The number is quite obviously 'inspired' by a Shammi Kapoor number. You can almost expect to hear Rafi Saab's voice, but when Malik sings instead in his voice which sounds like Nana Patekar having a sore throat, screaming meaningless lyrics, the result is disaster.

Rating: 4.5/10.

Chale Jaise Hawaein is an upbeat number, sung by KK and the husky Vasundhara Das. However, yours truly not being a great fan of female singers who put on a husky voice to sound male, I didn't like this number.

Rating: 4/10.

Main Hoon Na (sad version) is where sanity is restored. This version is sung by Abhijeet and his voice is amazingly controlled. Add to that some great music from Malik and great lyrics from Javed saab and you have a winner!

Rating: 9/10.

Yeh Fizaein is a song I am looking forward to see on the silver screen. The reason? It features Boman Irani aka Dr. J. Asthana of Munnabhai MBBS dancing in tandem with Shah Rukh, Sushmita and Zayed! The music is decent and KK and Alka Yagnik are in fine form, though one misses Shreya.

Rating: 6.5/10.

Main Hoon Na (Remix) is the Sooraj Barjatya version of the title track. A great track is mixed with absurd rap pieces, ludicrous beats and instruments that seem to have gone wrong. Add to that the constant trumpeting which reminds me of the wedding songs in Barjatya's Hum Aapke Hai Kaun. Remix ne original ko (Sooraj) Barbaad Kiya!

Rating: 3/10.

All in all, the track boats of two great numbers and 2-3 hummable ones, which might be enhanced on screen, if the choreographer turned director does her job well. Buy the album as soon as possible because it is reported that Maneka Gandhi wants to ban this film as it insults goats ... Me-me-me-me-me-me-me ... !!!
