Worst madurai experience
Mar 30, 2024 03:19 PM 286 Views (via Android App)

This was my worst experience in Madurai which was my first visit. People here are very rude. No polite speech. Beware of auto drivers. First we went to a hotel for breakfast. I think this is one of the famous hotel. It was too rush. I went inside the restroom. Staff of that hotel was standing inside. After I came out she asked for money. And I told I don't have and why should I pay. She pulled my sling bag and said you may have money inside this. And I complained to that manager. He didnt mind initially, then he said its usually happening here. I really got irritated and went away. No safety for ladies. They won't respect each other. Inside Meenakshi amman temple, auto driver asking more money. They don't respect. No proper restroom facilities. Worst experience. I don't want to go to madurai at any cost

I am really feeling sorry for God placed in Madurai. Except Meenakshi Amman temple(only temple) nothing is proper in Madurai. People are horrible and doesn't know how to talk to people. Intentional traffic issue created for tourist people. I would say if you travel by your own car best time to visit Meenakshi Amman temple is early morning 5.00 AM. Else local Auto rickshaw wale will take your wallet to empty for sure. Don't ever trust Autorickshaw drivers in Madurai.

Experience in Madurai! Shitty people!
Mar 08, 2020 05:02 PM 1818 Views (via Mobile)

Madurai is the worst place I have ever visited in my entire life. I have travelled the world but talk about Madurai, my goodness! People here are nasty, ethnocentric, orthodox, uncultured and narcissist. They cheat on tourists.., have an inflated sense of self importance who look down upon people of other culture. The only good thing is that the city is ancient with rich heritage.. Indeed a temple City with commendable architecture. But the people my goodness. They won't speak English or any other language even if they know it. The whole world would have to speak Tamil to communicate with these hooligans. They loot people.. Be it in the temple or auto or cabs. They disrespect people coming from other parts of India and keep harping about their “so-called” culture! So called literates don't even understand the line- Please give me a bottle of mineral water. They make fun of you. Day in and day out they are worshipping and beating the trumpet of their culture, dress, food and disrespect other people's culture. Bloody illiterates. Ask them about their own ancient kingdoms.. they know nothing. They disrespect and disregard ladies if they are not wearing sarees and churidaar. If they are wearing long track pants or jeans they abuse and look down upon them. What a culture my goodness! If you don't respect culture, food, dress, language and customs of other people you don't respect your own culture either. These people need to evolve. They are nasty and uncivilized. I'll never go back to Madurai (except for official purpose). Patriarchy prevails in this city. Casteism is in a virulent form in Madurai. Girls are becoming astronauts, athletes and what not. . And these people are beating trumpet of Theirso-called culture behind pallu and saree. Retard, regressive people. Also, Madurites are very much famous for honour-killing and Devadasi Pratha.. all know what happens behind Devadasi Pratha. Even the Govt. Of India is not able to stop the racket of prostitution in the name of Devadasi Pratha. Madurai is also known as a place where blood flows like water. Read-- The Hindu Newspaper.Feudal minded, barbaric savages.. These people need to evolve. In terms of culture, technology and humanity. It's 21st century! Bloody illiterates and savages Madurites in our rights-based, plural, diverse society like India where we say Atithi Devo Bhava..!

There are many tourist places in and around Madurai . Thousands of tourists visit Madurai every day to see the beauty of Madurai. It contains more than 200 stupas. Sadly, only about a quarter of the original structure survives. These include the entrance hall, courtyard, dance hall and audience hall. Old smart city Madurai
Jan 09, 2020 07:21 PM 2194 Views (via Android App)

Madurai is a well panned built smart city with a squared circumference at once. The city still remains at the same ground level. And it is situated in the south part of Tamilnadu also a district headquarters. Having one of the old airports in India. But the airport built at a somewhat moderate distance from the central city.

The old Madurai town is known as the places around the Meenakshi Amman temple which is unique and world-famous. This temple is the main attraction and landmark of south India having 4 grand temple towers ( Gopuram). More than that Tirumalai Nayakar mahal is an important place to visit which consists of gigantic pillars.

Many temples are there in and around the city like yoga Narashima temple near Yaanai malai, Inmayil Nanmai Tharuvar temple, Thiruparangundram temple ( first home of lord Muruga) and so many small temples. We can take 3 or 4 days to get complete round on visiting so many places in the Madurai region.

For enjoyment, you have an amusement park named Adhisayam theme park which one is situated above 10 km from central Madurai city

Now the city is under rush due to the construction of so many bridges and particularly the heart of the city having so many traffic changes do to a multiplex complex construction on the Periyar bus stand. Around the Meenakshi temple 4 sides completely occupied with a lot of markets and bazaars.

Every road has identical material purchasing parts like hardware, textiles, households, cooking items and agricultural items, jewelry also. After one or two years the city infrastructure will change completely. One of the bad things is there is very less number of trees inside the main town and you can feel hotter at summers. So it is very better to visit there in November and December.

Particularly inside the Meenakshi temple, the shiv linga is known as Athama linga having more divine power. The Vaigai river is always seen dried one. In the monsoon time, you can see some of the running water for 15 days. The very important festival is Chitirai Thiruvila which will increase the economy of this city into 10 times. At that time most of the traffic is blocked and let the people walk around the city.

The very important matter is a concern with food. All the time you can get a variety of food anywhere in the city. At night 2 o clock inside the fruit markets, you can taste a very cheap and tasty nonvegetarian food.

But the city is losing the good name nowadays because of the rude behavior of people. And government transportation also costs so much for intercity transportation. Auto drivers never follow the rules and their driving style is a very arrogant one. Localities are suffering very much due to the water scarcity problem. In the summertime, you can't able to take a look at the road because of the hot weather and less tress.

Madurai is an educational point also. Many schools and colleges are available inside the city itself. Madurai still having underground secret tunnel which was built in the period of the Pandya kingdom. A city that is standing and crossed many political changes and community fights.

I am going to share my worst experience on any destination I have been, till date. I had been to madurai a week back to attend my cousin sisters engagement cermony. since its my first visit, I had lot of great assumptions of a good experience, but everything turned upside down ! as everyone was tired of travelling and taking some rest at their respective rooms , I thought of going around the city. first I thought of visiting the meenakshi temple and took an auto . the auto driver charged me around 300 rupees just for about 5 kilometres ! when I questiononed him he was very rude and demanded to pay or face the consequences ! I was shocked on how locals treat others ( non madurai residents) . every encounter I had with the locals there turned to be a nightmare . everyone from shopkeepers to autodrivers even women were very rude and unfriendly . after a while I just cut short my travel and headed straight back to my hotel room and even suggested my family members not to go out as its not safe.in an another incident we took a bus to get back to bangalore from madurai as we couldn't get a train tickets booked. we booked seven seats in which two were low berths and remaining were upper berths . all the upper berths were completely sealed no ventilation at all, there wasn't even a fan ! when I complained the same to the driver and his assistant , they were very rude and asked me to adjust as they have converted an ac bus into non ac ! thats horrible ! without ventilation we travelled all the way to bangalore even after paying 600 per seat . so my humble request to people with plans of visiting madurai is, please dont go ! these people don't have basic manners and don't know how to treat people !

The entrance is through from 4 gates situated on 4 directions. All gopurams looks similar. When I was there I totally got confused from which gate to enter and from which gate to exit.

The people slang in Madurai reflects their nativity. Hoping you all to have a nice tour to madurai just as I had.
