I took a walk down to lyricsworld.com today to try and find out the lyrics to a song in which I do not know the artist nor do I even know more than 4 words of the song. These lyric sites have always been helpful but I usually go to another one regularly before I check this one out. Let's talk about the site first and then I will provide you with the conclusion of my result. Was I disappointed? Hmm hmm hmm ... well let's see!

The mainpage is easy looking. It has 4 options, the logo, the title. Perfect! What else could you ask for? Everything is neat and ready for the user-friendly liking of a person.

You will be able to type a phrase or a word to find your song. What I have noticed is that if you are too specific then the site will not match anything. It will simply go to a blank blue page in which you won't be even able to tell if its searching or there wasn't anything of the such.

I wish they would put something down like ''Found No Matches'' instead of teasing me and placing this blue screen up for me. What the heck does that blue thing mean!

When you finally do find a song, it will match you to some of the websites around the net that feature the lyrics for that song you are looking to match. Its not its own database; its like a Napster. It will load all the lyrics into a database and then tell you the links to those sub databases!

As well, you can take a look at the most popular searches on lyricsworld by simply clicking the link. So far, the real slim shady is the most popular. It isn't just songs that they feature in their top 50, it also includes artists!

Overall Thoughts

Well the layout of the site is pretty good, but searching for my song was horrific! I typed in ''Baby you're all that I want'' hoping to find DJ Sammy and the song Heaven but was unlucky. The type of search engine that I want is one that tosses me results. It seems even with the neat features on the site, the accuracy component is a must and was not present. I will have to try others before this one, .... I suggest the same for you.

After reading Rosies wonderful review on this site, and her urging me to go take a look see, I decided to venture over to the site and see what all the hoopla was about.

First Impressions

My first impressions of the site was that it was a pretty ordinary site, if not bare. You are met with the blue screen that only gives you four choices as to which way you are going to go.

Choice one - Search For Music Lyrics

When I clicked on this link it took me to a page that was titled Search info and Updates which had a letter printed from a Mike Giles asking people to donate to the red cross in light of the horrific tragedy of September 11. Then at the bottom of the page it offered me several links to choose from in regards to not only the Red Cross but also to pages such as a new Yahoo Club that is set up for Lyricsworld users.

On the side bar there were lyrics search, popular searches, submit a site, about us, contact us and a link to their privacy policy. So once again, I choose lyrics search. (Even though I must confess here and now, I do not know of many songs that have lyrics that one would find on this site as I listen to opera, classical and other instrumental types of music), but felt in all fairness I would try to dig up some so that I could write about them here. So off I went to raid a friend of mines CD collection!

What I found as I tried to search

This music may or may not be what is listened to today. I know a lot of it is old music, but wanted to give this a spin. (No pun intended.)

China Grove by the Doobie Brothers was the first one I entered in, well, actually I just entered China Grove and it went straight to the one by the Doobie Brothers.

It not only listed the lyrics for China Grove but also gave me the guitar cords that go with it.

Having had success with the first one, I decided to take a shot at another.

So, feeling rather nostalgic for my teenage years with the first one, I decided to go way back to when I was a kid of about sixteen and look up an artist that I enjoyed at the time, Alice Cooper.

I punched in I’ll Never Cry and it found me nine different links, the first one being the exact one I was searching for. This one only gave the lyrics, but hey, it was a nice trip down memory lane.

Having had success with these two, I decided to punch in one more. Wanting to make it a bit different I entered Dream of the Archer which was a song that I recorded back in 1986 (when I still did have a voice that was suitable for singing.) This selection was recorded by the group Heart way back when. Now this one drew a blank. So then I tried Knights in White Satin which also drew a blank.

So you get the drift. The site does have some lyrics to music that people might like to have so they can know what the artist is saying, but all in all, it really depends on what type of music you listen to.

Popular Search

When I entered this section of the site, the first thing I got was an apology from the site owner stating that the list was an old one, and they were working on the server. (Boy that rings a bell with me.)

The top ones included artists such as Britney Spears, Eminem, Thong Song, Kid Rock, Limp Buzkit, Nsync, Mariah Carey, and three for Real Slim Shady

Overall Feeling

My overall feeling of the site is that it is easy to navigate, and does contain lyrics to songs that people may want, but did not contain most of the ones I searched for. Again, it really depends on what type of music you listen to and how popular your favorite artists are.

It is an interesting site to browse around even if you no long listen to that type of music, memories that is what I found here more than anything.

Being a singer this site caught my eye and I am surprised I am only the second one to do a review on this site.(Deena check this out)

I went to the site and again it loaded very fast and I was greeted by a simple blue and white screen which was very easy on the eyes.

The first link I seen was search for lyrics so off I went. When I clicked on this link I was taken to a page with links for the tops news, a yahoo club to join, and over 500 lyrics links.

I went to the search box and started typing away and will tell you the results I achieved.

I am a country fan among other types of music and I love an old song called ''Silver Wings'' so I typed that in and came up with 29 matches. However none were the one I wanted so I added the artist name and came up with no results. I was a little disappointed but decided to keep going so I typed in a popular song by Tanya Tucker and again no results. This may be a problem with me as I possibly did not have the titles exact even though I thought I did and decided to keep going. All the rest I typed in I found.

I looked up Moon River next and it gave me 9 matches. The Tennessee Waltz gave me 10 matches.

I decided then to try some other types of music and typed in Green River by Creedance Clearwater Revival, 5 matches there including the band I wanted.

I then tried gospel and typed in How Great Thou Art and was given only one match but it was by Elvis and on that page I found tons of his songs.

Overall I was happy with the site and I think with a little more tweaking of titles I will find the rest. For anyone that loves to sing go have a look.

Usually if I like a song and want the words I have to listen to it over and over and write them down by hand so this will be a big help in just finding them and printing them out.

Music is such a thing that whether it is a hard rock or something soothing like classical and instrumental creates lot of impact. Now there are tons of website from where you can download songs but I was not very sure you can have one website and all the lyrics on a single website.

I was very eager to read the lyrics of Eminem Songs, especially the controversial Real Slim Shady. Hence I asked one of my friend and he told there is one website where you can get all the lyrics in the world.

It’s a very simple website with a super fast search engine for https://lyrics. Its like google is for web search, not much of complications. Go to the website, and in the search just write the name of the song and then you have the lyrics ready.

What they say is, they came up with the idea of lyricsworld when major websites like https://lyrics.ch got into tangle with music companies for copyrights.

You can also submit lyrics on the website. It has not much to write about.

The search engine is so good, if you know the song and don’t know the artist no problems you will get the lyrics irrespective of the artist or the song.

As it is search engine similar to google for Lyrics doesnt have much to choose from, no categories, no artist wise distribution. ''It is like in the open jungle, just start searching by putting the keywords.''

So go ahead and lip-synch along with the song you hear.
