Lush Opens Store In Canada

A long time ago I had Meuniere's Disease, (an infection of the inner ear). I thought it had gone, but when I had helicobactera it came back. I have been very dizzy for weeks.

I hadn't been out of the house for so long, the first day, I felt a bit better, my husband asked me to have lunch with him down town.

After her parked the car, he went to put some money in the meter. I thought I would walk to the corner, and wait for him. While I was standing on the corner I looked up and saw a Lush Shop sign.

The store was on Government Street, (our nicest street, down town). I started to run towards the shop, and because of my one eye, I didn't see a pole. I hurt my good eye! By then my husband had caught up to me, and he helped me go into the shop.

I Went Into The Store

He handed me a handkerchief, to stop my eye from tearing, and when my eye was clear, and I could see, a sales lady, who had her face covered in a green Lush mask, had her face close to mine, and asked if she could help me with anything.

She an my husband helped me walk around the store, and I was appalled at the prices. For example, one large Bollywood Bath Ballistic, (90 grams), cost $6.00 CAD, when I can buy 3, the same size for $1.00 at the Dollar Store. It may not have coconut powder, or ginger & orange oil in it, but still, I think it was very over priced.

All Lush products are hand made, but in Victoria there are a lot of bath products that are hand made, and cheaper.

Suddenly I saw on a rack, a row of SOLID SHAMPOO BARS. Each cost $8.50, but there was a sale. If I bought two I would pay $8.00 and receive a free tin to hold the shampoo in.

I use Pantine shampoo and Pantine conditioner, that costs me about $9.00. I decided I didn't want to be a Lush virgin any more, so I decided to buy the solid shampoo.

The Shampoo

The shampoo is round and about ½ inch thick. It weighs 55grams.

I smelt the soap, and can tell you that I would never buy the Soak & Float, because it smells vile.

I did like the smell of the blue bar, (Seanik), but it has seaweed in it and I'm allergic to that.

I decided to buy the Irresistible Bliss, (it's pink) and the Karma Komba, (it's green).

What's in the Shampoo

The Irresistible Bliss is for people who have normal hair, (not dry or frizzy), and I was buying this for my daughter. It has sodium Lauryl, Cocomide DEA, Citrus amara, Jasminum and Gardina extracts. To me it smelled like a variety of roses.

I have curly hair that sometimes gets so curly it tangles. Karman Komba was made for hair like mine. It has Sodium Lauryl, Cocmide DEA, Gardena & Jasmine extracts and patchouli, lemon grass, orange, pine, lavender oils,

Applying It

Thank goodness the sales lady with the green face told me how to use it. If she hadn't I would have used too much.

You wet your hair, and run the bar through it once. Then you massage it into your hair, and rinse it out.

I was very nervous when I was rubbing it in, because it didn't make a lot of foam. I guess that's why I didn't have to rinse it so long to get it out of my hair.

Then

I towel dried it, and I used my fingers like a comb, (I never use a brush or a comb on my hair).

I didn't run any ice through it or use cold water as a last rinse, because I wanted to see what would happen.

I did bend over and crunched my hair, (that helps it get curly). When I did that I realized my hair didn't have any scent in it.

When It Was Dry

I had wavy curls, it didn't tangle or frizz. My hair was very shiny and looked extremely healthy.

My Conclusion

I have been using this shampoo for three weeks and it looks almost new. I have no idea how long a bar will last but when it's through, I'll be going back to buy some more shampoo.
