I had purchased an LG microwave oven in the last quarter of 2010, and it was pretty good and worked well for nearly 18 months, when it suddenly conked out on the 25th of August. We contacted the LG customer care at Kozhikode, Kerala on 27th August, and after multiple calls, a technician came over on 3rd September. He informed us that the circuit board was damaged, and would have to be replaced. Further, that it was not stocked in our city and would have to be brought from Kochi, 200km away. It took them 2 weeks to get the spare from Kochi, a mere 4 hour drive or train journey away.
They charged me Rs 3200 to replace the board, but we found that the pre-heating facility was not working after the repair, and called them back after 2 days. This time, we were asked to take the oven to their service centre in the city, where it has been languishing since then, while they wait for a new board to arrive magically from Kochi all over again.
I had logged into the official website of LG in India and filed a complaint regarding the tortoise paced service on 3 different occasions, and every time I get the same reply "We have forwarded you complaint to the local officials for further (in)action". Unlike other companies, LG has no mechanism for upgrading your complaint with a higher authority, and you are stuck with the canned reply till the end of time.
My earnest advice, in view of my bitter experiences, and in view of my findings on extensive searching of the web which revealed a plethora of such complaints against LG, is to totally avoid buying ANY LG product, however good it may appear.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
