Lahar Namkeen is a tasty, ready to eat product, mostly available in the Railway Stations. It is packed in Alumina backed package, on which is printed the ingredients, date of production and price. The ingredients are: Besan, Wheat, Mugphali, Haldi, Onion, Garlic, Lemon and Spices, It is so tempting that you would punch a hole in the packet and start eating. In no time you will finish one packet. Without wounding the feelings of the manufacturers of Lahar Namkeen let me say that the Haldiram products are much tastier than Lahar Namkeen.Where is Lahar in Lahar Namkeen ?
Fair enough Lahar Namkeen and Haldiram. You are doing a good job for the urbanites like us. For God's sake, keep your marketing policy and strategy limited to the urban areas. Please kep yourselves aloof from the rural areas. Let the Mureewala, the Churrawala and the Mugfaliwala go to their regular customers in the rural areas. They have a face-to-face relationship with their customers and their children. Let the sound of their ring-and-mandiras announce their arrival so that their customers would be ready to come to them with ready cash. The products they sell are fresh, and always oven-fresh. There is a conditioning reflex. They are expected at a particular time mostly in the evenings.
Even at the Bajiraut Chatravas at Angul (Orissa), where I live, we expect Sadhu Bhai to come with his varieties and sit near the Kanyashram at dusk. From our house, my wife would send someone to Sadhu Bhai, if she needs Muree and/or Mugphali. Sadhu Bhai has become old. His son deals with the decoration business. He rents PA Equipment, arranges light and decorates your pandal for a reasonable fee. He has installed a telephone at his house. When Sadhu Bhai answers the phone in his typical musical accent of Angul, it is worth recording the conversation. Sadhu Bhai does not ruin rural economy, but, if Lahar Namkeen and Haldirams of Bikaner attempt to enter the rural market, they would destroy the rural economy. I am sure, they would face a stiff opposition and resistance.

- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
