Korean Air Reviews

Excellent!

Korean is the member of sky team. As of 27th November, Korean national can enter the US without VIsa, so the traffic between Korea and the US becomes more heavy. They fly to Alanta, Chicago, DC, Dallas( 4times weekly), LA, San Francisco, Hawaii, Seattle, New York and Las Vegas.

I flew Korean Air from San Francisco to Chiang Mai(KE024/667). I have to say that it was very much better than any airlines I have flown with. Before, I always fly with China Airlines. Korean Air just add Chiang Mai to their service on December 2007.

I paid$765 for one-ticket direct to their website. I found this deal very very cheap. At check-in counter, it was fast. The aircraft on the first leg is 777-200. The configaration in economy class was 3/3/3.

I notice that most passengers were on their ways to Mainland China by looking at their passport and their Mandarin chatting, and I was right, the cabin crew made an announcement in Mandarin Chinese many many times.

Unlike other airlines's conservative uniforms, their flight attendant's uniform is very very creative. The plane flew over Alaska and then Russia to Incheon airport. I watched 4 movies from the personal TV, so the flight seems short. There was no southeast Asian songs channel, I think they should add one.

One thing I have to mention is that I forgot to ask them for No-beef food. Thank godm they do have vegetarian food for me. The quantity of food was quite small for me. Red or White wine is served in economy class. If you were sleeping, they would put a sticky on your seat, so you can order food later when you wake up.

transit at Inchoen was fast, connecting time was better. I had more food there at the airport. On the second leg, the aircraft was 330-200. There were Thai crew, Thai in flight announcement on this flight. I was so happy they pay attention on Thai customer.

The food they served for dinner was better. However, there was no personal TV on this type of aircraft.

I will fly with them again if I have a chance to go to USA again.

Bad experience

My husband and I have recently traveled on Korean Air from Chicago to Inchean connecting to Teagu, business class and I am definitely not going to repeat that experience. The counter staff was all business, no smile, not even a courtesy "good morning." At one point the agent disappeared into the office for a good ten minutes without an explanation.

The lounge was overcrowded to the capacity and I almost got yelled at by the gate for not being in the right line ad then tripped over by a frantic looking manager who was running all over the place, making us, quite frankly, a bit nervous as to whether everything was okay. FInally, the barely understandable announcement, and were boarding half an hour later due to "technical preparations". Onboard, the staff was frigid cold and not at all polite, seemed very flustered when I asked for an extra pillow for my husband's back. The aircraft itself was rather nice, a newer 747, which was a nice surprise.

Superb!!!!

I have recently traveled to Fiji using Korean Air by Economy Class. I had travelled Mumbai-Seol and then Seol-Nadi . Pls. find my experience listed below:

1) We arrived at Mumbai Airport at 1130 p.m. to catch the flight at 3.30 a.m. for Fiji. we were supposed to change the flight at Seol and the stop over was of 4.30 hrs. When we were checking in, the check in counter person scared us by saying that the rejection rate of Fiji Visa was very high. This information proved to be baseless later on..

2) The air craft was Airbus A 330-300, a new aircraft and very well maintained. Nice ambience once you enter.

3) The Economy class sitting was not too comfortable. We were given a kit after sitting wich consisted of tooth brush, paste, socks and blind folds. The service was courteous and the cabin crew was very helpful.

4) I had requested for Indian Veg. Meal. It was very well prepared except for the return journey and the breakfast had some thing similar to Idli but was not edible.

5) The in-flight entertainment was mostly in Korean language and was a bit disappointing.

6) The take off and landing was very smooth. Transit lounge of Korean Air at Incheon Airport is also good.

7) The duty free shopping also was a good experience.

All in all, I enjoyed my journey with Korean Air.

USA to Manila via ICN: experiences can vary
Jun 27, 2007 09:57 PM7973 Views

I flew from Seattle to ICN to Manila return in coach.  The Seattle/ICN leg was a code share with Northwest and Delta both going and returning.  All flights were on 777's but there is a huge difference between their old and new equipment.  The older 777s are real cattle cars with very limited inflight entertainment, while the newer equipment is laid out better, is more comfortable, and has individual inflight entertainment with a ton of free options.

Food was edible but not much more than that.  Flight attendants appeared overworked but friendly and always smiling.

If mileage plans matter, then be very careful.  After being assured that my entire flight qualified for partner miles, I was told at check in that the ICN to Manila legs wouldn't qualify because they weren't code shares.   The SkyTeam partnership elite status is relatively without value.  Disappointing.

In short, they are Ok but you won't confuse them with the better Asian airlines.

Korean Air Business Class
Feb 09, 2004 11:12 PM7879 Views

I flew business class on KE from LAX to ICN. I was lucky enough to have a seat upstairs. It was very quiet up there, and you feel like it's your plane. The seats were a nice size and I loved the personal entertainment screens at our seat.

A nice little suprise was the window seats have thier own little compartment to stow your stuff, so you don't have to shove it under the seat in front of you, or climb over the person next to you, to get into the overhead. The lower level does not offer the compartments. We were offered the usual pre-flight beverage of mango juice or soda, and as soon as we got up in the air, we were given dinner menus.

There were 2 choices. A Korean meal and a western meal. I opted for the western entree of Sea Bass. It was presented with a small but tasty salad, and shrimp cocktail appetizer. The entree was actually pretty good for airplane food.

Throughout the meal, the staff kept offering an array of hot rolls and breads. After dinner, it was time for the inflight movie. There were 7 movies to chose from in both english and Korean. There were also several music channels to chose from. I watched part of a Harry Potter movie, and fell asleep.

I awoke to the smell of breakfast...about 6 hours later. The menu choices were again a Korean and a western entree. I was sitting next to a Korean woman who chose both the Korean entrees, so I got to see what that consisted of. The breakfast I chose was a small omlette with mushrooms and cheese. Again, hot breads and pastries were being offered as well as mango and orange juice.

When we arrived at Inchon airport, we were first off the aircraft and our luggage arrived very efficiently. I was pleased with Korean Air and would recommend it to anyone flying to Seoul.
